This car has so many things going for it. So many things I look for in a car such as good visibility, low center of gravity, hatchback... But the thing that absolutely sold me on this, is the fact that it still has an AUX Jack. I can finally listen to my old CD's and Cassette tapes again!
Or you could transfer them to a flash drive and play through the USB port. That is what I did with my CD collection for my 2019 Impreza. I got the base, which did not have a CD player. When I got my car, the Premium trim did have a CD player, but I think it is no longer available. I really like my Impreza, but do wish I had moved up the the Premium trim, which had better shocks, a CD player, and heated seats and mirrors, but wasnt that much more expensive.
I’m glad you enjoy that, and I will plan to continue. I’ve also started measuring tread depth on my snow driving videos. I should have included that on regular reviews a long time ago haha. 😂
Just saw your reply from the RS review about this Base trim video and had to watch this completely. I really appreciate the highlight of differences, especially with the interior. Thank you so much!
I was between the Crosstrek basic and this one, they are so a like ! even the touch screen is double wish I don't mind at all because is touch and still looks modern and big, I choose Impreza base model and I LOVE IT !

I just picked up one at Downtown Subaru of Oakland for only $21,290, thanks to their Black Friday sale! 3.9% APR for 60 months ..can't beat that deal in today's market.
I’m picking up my base model in red on Thursday 😂. My wife drives the 23 model. For the price you can’t beat it. The only thing I don’t like is the screen freezes sometimes.
I really appreciate that! 🙂 Honestly, I wouldn’t say I’m embarrassed of my first year of videos, but IMO they started getting noticeable better around 7/23 when I took the next step in learning some better basic editing. 😂
There's been a big push to get people to stop looking down at their phones while driving and laws passed about distracted driving. At the same time carmakers are doing away with physical buttons forcing us to look down at touchscreens while driving. 🤦♀ It's asinine.
Just bought one for my daughter, base model with alloy wheels. This car is so much better than the 2021 she had, sedan. It's got great linear acceleration and it's just intuitive as hell. The MPG is great and it's slick! I have a Subaru 2017 outback 3.6r and that's great but this car is awesome for my daughter!
I bought my 2017 certified pre-ownde and have driven it 122K miles. Pretty much only routine maintenance like brakes, ball joints and bearings, mostly around the 90K mark. It's always been reliable and with a set of Michelan Cross Climate 2 tires, this car just delivers in the snow! I'm getting another one, this time a Wilderness.
Great reviewer! Ive put in a deposit for a gray, base one today! My spouse went to test drive a Crosstrek yesterday but endend up taking a black RS home. What a nice car! Wow! Id be happy with my base one 😉
I like physical buttons for the HVAC, but I would rather have the split screen than the giant touch screen! It's a base model for me. Besides thats more in my price range anyway.
Please do a Sport trim when you can! Your reviews are insanely in depth and show me absolutely everything I want to see, while being concise and moving along fast enough to not get bored. NO one else has this kind of content anywhere, love to see if for the Sport

I’m surprised this isn’t a bigger seller but I think Subaru needs to market it better. I was aware of the Crosstrek but ultimately went for a Mazda Cx-30 but this car wasn’t even on my radar. I would have considered it because of its low price and simplicity while still having AWD.
I have the same car same year. You have to half gas it then slowly step into the pedal as your accelerating. You’ll shave a second atleast off your 0-60
Nice review. Didn't watch full video yet but debating between this and Crosstrek. Would you say the Crosstrek rides better since more suspension travel (2024 models)? I want a cushy, soft ride in these bad roads in Alberta Canada :)
Definitely test drive both! 🙂 The CT had over 3” extra ground clearance, but as far as actual suspension travel I don’t know how different or similar they are, if that makes sense. Also wheel size and tire sidewall will make a big difference. The more sidewall the cushier the ride! 🙂
Subaru knows how to do simple base model cars correctly. The Civic and Mazda3 are also very good choices but more expensive, especially if you want a hatchback.
I don’t know what’s up with Subaru against having a descent size knob on their radio. People have been asking about that for so many years but they never did anything about it.
Dollar for dollar, it’s the best thing out there. It’s like the Glock of the auto world… not the best at any one thing, but overall a great piece, maybe the best all around compact car especially if you live where it snows.
I find it interesting that for a car with no spare tire it has the jack and lug wrench. Personally I’d have to get a spare and figure out how to integrate it into the back.
I like the look of the 24 but I bought the 23 because of the traditional parking brake, no start/stop, physical A/C controls and an actual spare tire. If you are going to get the new model I would go for the RS for the bigger engine. Problem is the price of the RS is creeping up on a base model WRX which is more powerful and sportier looking for the same price. You just don’t quite get the fuel economy of the Impreza.
I agree, sounds like you made the right choice for you! 🙂 I’ve seen some RS models on the lot for low 30’s, at that point the potential buyer should absolutely be considering the WRX, lol.
Test road an Impreza five years ago. I took it on a real test drive, Interstate highway, mountain roads etc. It was all noise and no go (CVT), the suspension was harsh, and interior space was cramped. I bought a Mazda 6 instead. There was no comparison in the ride, acceleration (6 speed seamless AT) mileage 39mpg hwy) and it cost $4,000 less. I had a 2001 Legacy Outback that was great, the AWD never left me stranded in our yearly 250+ inches of snow. If you’re not a first responder in the snow-belt Subaru’s don’t make sense. You will pay more for the AWD upfront, and then have higher maintenance costs, plus pay at the pump. Although, If it had a manual transmission it would tempt me.
Just recently replaced my 2014 Impreza with this model. It is a great car so far, and was as affordably priced as you can get. But the horn is beyond wimpy. I drive the freeways of southeast Michigan and I need to be heard when the monster trucks inevitably blow into my lane (73.6% of traffic here consists of law abiding citizens and their beloved behemoths ). Forget physical knobs, give me a decent horn, Subaru.
Thanks for sharing and mentioning your noticed concern with the car! I don’t have any experience doing this, but I know at least the WRX/STI community (maybe because those use to be built off of the Impreza platform) would upgrade their hi/low horns with Hellahorns. Just a thought! 🧐🤔
Great thorough review! I'm curious about the handling/ride quality compared to the RS trim with the 'sport tuned suspension'. Any big noticeable difference, or is it pretty similar to the base? Also, do you think the ground clearance is a potential concern for potholes/dips/speed bumps? Mostly for just city/highway driving
Honestly, I can’t tell a difference in the suspension tightness. They all feel the same to me (including the Sport trim I drove today). They could technically claim “sport tuned suspension” with as little as 1% stiffer ride, I’m not sure the true difference, but it’s subtle enough I can’t tell. But overall this generation feels better than the last. Personally, I don’t think I would want an Impreza with 5.1” ground clearance and the 18” wheels. I’d rather have 16’s, maybe aftermarket for the look and 2” extra sidewall for the capability. If money wasn’t a concern I would choose the Crosstrek, but I live near the country and like excessive ground clearance lol.
Lol, you’re right. I believe this was the only new Impreza video that I forgot to mention/show it. I don’t believe any of this new generation include a spare anymore. 😢
Thanks for the review. What are your driving impressions of the Impreza Base on the highway? Both in terms of general noise and merging in at a slightly slower acceleration (compared to the RS)?
The Base is awesome, and overall the feel basically the same to me while driving them, other than the acceleration. I mostly drive at altitude so I personally definitely prefer the larger 2.5 engine. But I know it’s not for everyone and depending on your driving demands may not be necessary. Best of luck! 🙂
I have BSM on both of my daily drivers and honestly I wouldn’t want to go back. It’s obviously not needed, but if it avoids a single accident it likely paid for itself. Just my 2 cents. 🙂🤷♂️
I would imagine if you can fit the same size diameter donut wheel/tire in the cut out on any vehicle you should be just fine! If it specifically fits on this new generation I’m unsure of. I would think so because even the Crosstrek use to come with a spare. I know that my uncertainty in fitment isn’t necessarily helpful, lol… 🤷♂️😅
Too bad they didnt make the 2.5 L engine standard. That would make the lower trims a great value. As it is, to get the 2.5L you have to get an RS. The RS is still a decent value if you can find one without the moonroof/Bose option, but a loaded one at 32k with the moonroof/Bose is too expensive.
i just bought one of these 2 weeks ago and most of your review i agree with, cept 1 part, you and the other reviewers seem disappointed with the power, i trade in a 2016 Nissan Sentra SV and i can tell you my Impreza would kick my Sentra's ass !! but the Nissan had a 1.8 and though not a big jump the Boxer 2.0 has a lot more torque, the specs say i went from 130HP in the Nissan to 152HP in the Subaru, and 128 ft.lb torque in the Nissan and 145 ft.lb torque in the Subaru, so i guess it depends on what you come out of
If you are going to show the window sticker, please hold the camera there long enough so folks can see what is on the vehicle. Please give the government crash ratings for the vehicles you review. It is important.
You’re right. Sometimes I post the videos before the dealership publicly posts the car on their site so I don’t have access to the clean online window sticker as a picture that can be found when you follow the link in the description. I’ll try to include more of those or a better quality when I film. Also some of these new cars aren’t crash test rated yet, at least on the window sticker. But I’m sure this is a 5 star rated and a top safety pick, just like the last gen. 🙂
This thing needs crank windows, a CD player, a manual transmission, buttons....all that stuff was better. I really don't understand whats happening to cars.
The less equipment the cheaper is going to cost to maintain, wish you could delete the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, heard to many bad things about it.A pass for me.
Was really thinking about getting this as a first Subaru ever. Went to test drive it but it was so bland and boring I'll have to pass. Seems cheap compared to others in the class.
There is not a single person on God’s green Earth that does not prefer physical buttons. Yet, we continue getting weird screens and cumbersome menus. Why is that?
@AutomotiveAnonymous208 thanks for the reply. Engineers shut communicate with sales people about what the CUSTOMER wants and needs. In my opinion as an automotive service advisor. Customers sure communicate with us
Picking one of these up tomorrow in magnetite gray metallic. You didn't mention that there is no spare tire. Also, the gas mileage is worse than its predecessor. I asked the salesman why the spare was omitted and he said it was for better gas mileage. Really? Something that weighs about 40 pounds? What a crock. Obviously not a deal breaker for me (daughter, actually) but important details nonetheless for the unwary.
Since you were talking about the door pocket needing to be extended. Let's talk about SOA not including the coinbox for the fuse door. I imported one from japan for my 2015 impreza. I know everyone pays with card now but I still pay with cash. And having a coin pocket is great. 66170VA000VH is the part number if anyone cares. Also i don't like having all my options in the infonav. Prolly store my snacks back there with a bong when I go visit some friends.
Thats a really good one! I’ve seen those on Amazon but haven’t bought one myself. A lot of the Mazdas I’ve driven/review offer the coin storage with their fuse box. Thanks for watching and providing the part number! 🙂

How many key fobs does it come with?
At least two. 🙂
No SPARE?
Nope, not on this new generation. 😢
Yeah I agree. Here's a can of fix a flat Goodluck 😅
not bad for a daily, even with snow!
Not bad at all! 😎

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 Thanks for the info. Enjoy your videos.
It feels under powered with the 2.0 motor. Ask for the 2.5 motor instead.
It’s not under power at all
The color is very beautiful but there is not this colour in the choice for the base Impreza 2024... It's weird!..
Yeah, it does looks great in person!
Now i know how looks the best car in the world until 23k dollars 😮
Just need the Sport now and you're done with the 2024 Imprezza.
That’s right! Thanks for following along so closely! “Gotta catch ‘em all” haha. 🙂
This thing needs crank windows, a CD player, a manual transmission, buttons....all that stuff was better. I really don't understand whats happening to cars.
I absolutely agree! Basically keep it the last gen, but add the 2.5 boxer as standard and the LED headlights. 🤷♂️😎
The less equipment the cheaper is going to cost to maintain, wish you could delete the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, heard to many bad things about it.A pass for me.
World need Impreza WRX TR hatchback with both manual transmission and manual parking brake!
Not WRX TR sedan!
It’s all about… the base. 😂
Lol 😎
Was really thinking about getting this as a first Subaru ever. Went to test drive it but it was so bland and boring I'll have to pass. Seems cheap compared to others in the class.
Yeah, I get that! They are worth their price in safety and its AWD capability, but at the expense of feeling like a nicer car lol.
#500!
Get this car for 14k....have that eyesight garbage removed...remove tje center screens and replace with a older console with buttons for all features
Did you just say CD player? 😂
Lol…🤫
There is not a single person on God’s green Earth that does not prefer physical buttons. Yet, we continue getting weird screens and cumbersome menus. Why is that?
I ask myself that same question everyday lol.
No spare tire??? Pass.
It’s unfortunate these lost that in the new generation.
Congrats on the new ride! Yeah, I don’t think that’s the real reason lol. Oops I didn’t realize I forgot to mention it. Thanks for watching. 🙂
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 still a well done vid. thanks.
Thank you! I’ve also done the other two trim levels of the new Impreza as well incase you’re interested to see the differences. 🙂
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 thanks. will check em out.
Cost-cutting reason
