I love the stealthily datatagged mirrors on the Blade, that was done by a real tradesman. If you squint you can hardly see the half inch high writing right across them.
This bbb cannot com out quick enough I'm so freaking excited for what's to come
I am still rocking a 1996 fireblade myself so im a bit biased in this one 😎 as far as cheap upgrades go, sc44 or sc50 calipers and mc will be a nice upgrade and slap right on!
Also raising the forks 5mm through the trippleclamps will turn it into a cornering monster! and is free !
Do you have any experience with rear YSS shock? Is it any good?
@@denyB18 Yes they are good shocks for the price, and are a solid option if your stock suspension is dead.

I think the exup valve is seized in the closed position. I had that same problem on my fzr1000r
Or vacuum rubber is cracked
Had the same issue on my fzr600r ashes ago , 150psi through every hole I could see in the carbs did it xD
@@LushmanGB So at one point I had a full exhaust with no Exup but the servo motor was still there, I unplugged it and it did exactly this plugged it back in perfect again,
As a german i have to mention that bavaria is the biggest state by size but only second in residents after north rhine-westphalia ;-) apart from that i love the BBB series

Please do all the maintenance on these bikes, grease everything, clutches shocks springs chains get them on dyno all set up (do everything). And add a nice pipe to each at the end and ride them then, enjoy! And do this pleeeease 🙏🙏🙏
I had exact year and colour as this many moons ago. A couple things I found are. Exup valve if removed and not jetted will not rev. Even with jetting there is huge hole in power around 6k. Only true fix is full exhaust system. They are very sensitive to silencers. As a master tech at Honda and spending many hrs on dyno experimenting I found best performance to be a stage 2 dyno jet, std headers with exup valve in place and a mildly restricted silencer. With a full bore open silencer the power curve sucked as these engines like a bit of back pressure. I eventually had head ported and forged pistons fitted but piston slap from pistons due to being forged and clearances needed made me take engine out and drop in yzf1000. I would check coil packs and ignition connectors as these are also prone to water ingress. Love the channel.

Looking forward to watching the latest BudgetBikeBattle. Two legends. I became a fan back when you matched the Suzuki S RAD vs Kawasaki ZX7R. I had a 96 ZX7R and the bike was amazing. I compare the 90’s to early 2000’s sport bikes to classic muscle cars. Before tech took over. No rider modes. Just Carbs and fun for miles!👍
Always wanted a YZF750, still do seeing this. Reminds me of my FZR600R Foxeye, loved that bugger.

@@Jason.cbr1000rr from what I remember the blade was faster but my mate was a much quicker rider than me anyway. I just preferred the look of the Fireblade, especially the foxeye

Just bought two old bikes from auction. -97 fireblade and -99 cbr600f, both in very nice condition. To be honest the blades rear shock feels kind of soft but it’s not that bouncy. Still love the old fireblade, feels like home after 15 years without a bike.

I remember on those old bikes, to judge how much fuel you have, you just had to open the fuel cap and have a gander.
Firstly... such a good selection of 2 90's bikes.

Love it, best BBB since SRAD/ZX7R! My bet on the Blade handling, it's not just the shock...with a kangaroo throttle and dodgy rear end feel, the swingarm bearings are FUBAR....

My 98 Blade rear shock was already tired with 15k miles on it so not surprised Statham is having issues.
I lost it at the intro, and cant wait for the commentary from garage when he once again will tell you that you al bought crap xD
I'm sure those yzfs had problems with the exup valve,worth researching.
My brother had two of those blades,well made, reliable bikes,rear shock has always been gash though😅
They're pretty clean for being such old bikes. Maybe not functionally but they look nice.
