  • Today we go back to 2005 for Throwback Thursday when Graeme took the Eclipse Spyder for a Test Drive.
It wasn't an Evo but a halo car nonetheless.

I love my Eclipse. I've had it for 2 years now without an issue. It's a shame Mitsubishi mainly makes soccer mom cars now.

Hey you still have the 4g eclipse. Thinking of getting one so I went to UA-cam for opinions. Is it been reliable? Good for daily driving? Thanks in advance.

@@Mudsquadofficial It didn't give me any issues until about 130,000 miles when it started burning oil so I traded it for a newer car. As for handling and daily driving the long hood and rather large turning circle of the Eclipse meant I hit curbs more often than I would like to admit. The 3.8l engine gave me plenty of torque and that is mainly what I miss about it. Mitsubishis from that era also have terrible paint. The coating flakes off and the color underneath is damaged quickly. I spent a lot of money getting that fixed.
I looked at listing and a seller near me wants almost 7,000 for a 2006 Eclipse gs (4-banger) with 156,000 miles on it. If prices are similar in your area I strongly recommend against getting one. Don't get me wrong, I loved the time I had with my Eclipse, but you can get a better used car.

Omg. In my area there's a 3.8 in great condition with about 56000 miles for $6500. But thanks for the info 🤝🏻

Bumped into this vid as I was reminiscing about the past. And it makes me sad.
"Mitsubishi's future... much brighter than when we started."
I do wonder sometimes, what if MMNA/USDM cars ever made it to other markets - would it have done better? Americans, in particular, are a finnicky lot. In the 4th Gen Eclipse, we got the best N/A engine to ever be dropped into a Mitsubishi. Arguably the best FF M/T as well. Yes, it was hefty - but it was solid and spacious. It wasn't AWD, so not as good from a dig, but it was quick from a roll (it'll even get a jump on a stock Evo, if you time the shifts correctly). Ride is softer, but it was also planted.
    And it's still extremely reliable.
It really was the best of both worlds. A fast, fun car you can drive everyday. But, as we know, the world cares more about fancy marketing, what they hear from others, and the bells and whistles, than solid engineering. Buying a car just isn't about buying a "car" anymore. It's about buying the best Ikea living room on four wheels. And therefore Mitsubishis are just "shit" these days.
But, for those who still have their Eclipses, Evos, Ralliarts, 3000GTs, Galants, Pajeros, etc. --- kudos to you. You know what you've got. And that's what matters.

Robot Dib runs along another tube arm. Robot Dib makes a huge leap and grunts as he grabs onto an opening in the wall. After he pulls himself up, he sees Gaz standing there, growling.

Robot Dib had now reaching an opening in the wall which was VERY close to the outside...but Gaz was standing there, growling. Somehow he'd reached the top before he had!

As he considers himself to be still an Invader, he continues to wear the standard uniform a red-tunic like garment with three black stripes and a triangular pink collar and sleeves, black boots, leggings, and gloves. His PAK is light gray and pink spots.

Good review, not sure what you were on about with the whole shifter/clutch thing. Never had that issue with my '07
