- BEARTOOTH PASS IS OPEN!!! JULY 22, 2022!!
Sit back and enjoy a fast paced drive on Beartooth Highway shortly after it opened for the second time this season. A beautiful alpine snowscape awaits you.
This is a sped up drive of Beartooth Highway. It is still kinda long but it's hard to cut anything out because Beartooth Highway is so Awesome.
This video was shot on June 10th, 2022 a few days before the 100 year flood on the 13th of June. At present (July 10th 2022) Beartooth Highway is closed on the Red Lodge side due to landslides and roads being washed out but you can access the highway through Sunlight basin and go up as far as the Beartooth Basin Ski area. Remember to stop at the Top of the World Store and Cooke City while you travel there.

Loved the video and the music... Hell yeah 👍👍👍
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video
Just drove the Beartooth Highway from Cooke City to Red Lodge (MT) on June 11, 2024. Your video captures the experience extraordinarily well. There’s nothing likely actually driving it. Will never forget the intense focus required to overcome my unadulterated fear of dropping into the abyss from 10,000 feet. Maneuvering the narrow lane, poor visibility due to snow piles and blind curves, and traffic from oncoming oversized vehicles were all part of the experience. Not for the faint of heart but definitely something to experience at least once in a lifetime.
AWESOME! congratulations on a successful drive. I gotta say sometimes the oncoming traffic is the biggest danger. I am so glad that you worked through your fear and did it. And you are right, it is something that a person needs to experience. 😊
This July, it has been 26 years since my honeymoon there, while the wife may be long gone, the memories of that area and it’s unmatched Beauty have stayed with me every day. I long to go back someday as that area kept part of me
26 years is a long time, I hope that you make it a priority to return. To sit on the summit and look around onto all the surrounding mountain ranges is both inspiring and humbling.
Been there twice... First time July 2015 with my dog while working on a project in Big Sky.... I loved it so much I drove all the way back from Tucson Arizona to take my father there a year later... Best road trip ever!!! Thank you for sharing your footage.
Thank you for watching! It is an awesome highway. I go up as often as I can and each time is a new experience.
Bravo! Thanks for sharing. I'm doing that ride this year in late June from Red Lodge to Cooke City, then in to Yellowstone. :)
Great! I hope that you have an awesome ride.
My first time over Beartooth from Red Lodge to Cooke City was June 15th (my wife's birthday so easy to remember) way back in the 80's. Similar amount of snow pack as you just experienced but it was snowing that day and they closed the highway. We were already well on our way so we just kept pluggin' along. Finally got to Cooke City and the clerk in the general store comes out and goes crazy, couldn't believe we just came over the pass in the snowstorm (we were young, we didn't know any better). Driving a Mercury Capri. LOL! I still have pictures in an old photo album to prove it.
I try to describe the incredible beauty of Beartooth to friends and I just can't find the words to do it justice. Your video sure does. I am going to forward this to a few folks, let them see for themselves. Your recent Harley ride video was cool too, the one where you turned off Beartooth onto Chief Joseph highway. That road is also a must see for anyone that loves Beartooth.
It is a beautiful area. I never get tired of going up there. The pass was reopened yesterday and we took the jeep up to see the repairs. My husband has a similar story about going over the pass for the first time in the 80's in a car and in a snowstorm.
I was on a Hotshot crew out of SoCal in ‘88. We left Yellowstone by way of Cooke(d) City on the Beartioth. Even with all the smoke, this was one of the mots beautiful drives I have ever been on.
Thank you!
It is an amazing Highway. I remember those fires in YNP. They were horrible. Thank you for fighting them.
Someday. Missed last year, rv trouble. Maybe 0this year, 2024. Watched a lot of Bear Tooth videos, this one shows more scenery. One of the best. Thank you. Just heightens my desire to make that ride.
Thank you, I love the Beartooths and hope you get a chance to make the ride. I recently made another video, this time without snow after they reopen on July 22, 2022. if you are interested. ua-cam.com/video/M0iUc7tEzTE/v-deo.html. Thank you for watching.
I did watch it. It was fantastic. You do an amazing job. Thank you
The last time we were there was July 4, 2020, the videos are still on my phone. Absolutely Gorgeous drive, one of the best in the lower 48. Thank you for sharing!!
I am glad that you liked the video. I love it there, The drive is amazing no matter how many times I go up there.
Thank you so much!
Glad you liked the Video, Thank you for watching
awesome content
Thank you, I am glad you like the video
Nice Thank you.
Once at a pull off a guy asked me where the nearest store was to get ice for his cooler. I told him to use snow. Showed him my big cooler with lunch meat, cokes, etc. with my fish tank tubing leading out through a little hole in my floor board for drainage. " Snow...never thought of that " he said. (silly me I thought everyone knew about that...but I was wrong ) Pay for ice...or use free snow...pick one
I have used snow a lot, in comes in handy for a lot of things when ice or water isn't around.
@@loristravels Sure does
I did with a friend the Bear Tooth Rally on the MC over the pass to Cody in 2005 nice ride wish you were on a Bike! Nice Video!!!!!
Thank you! We ride Beartooth pass often. I do have a video from last year that I posted on my channel. We hope to do another video when they open the Highway back up after the flooding washed away roads and bridges.
I am planning a trip in 2023. When I try to scope out my drive in google maps, it is showing that you can't go all the way from Cooke City to Red Lodge. Has the bridge been repaired and can you drive all the way through now? Great video!
Beartooth Highway is closed seasonally from late sept/early Oct to Memorial day. (estimated opening date) Sometimes later depending on weather and it can be closed again periodically due to snow. Once open again for the summer season, barring any new natural disasters, you can travel from cooke City to Red Lodge with no problem. Depending on your plans I would shoot for mid June being the earliest, July and August are the best weather wise.
Ghostbusters! that cracked me up! Them there hill be haunted!!!!! Lol!
I wish I would have seen it sooner, It would be so cool to have a Ghostbusters car.
Totally ruined this road since I drove it back in 2013,just drove it June of 2021.
The Beartooth Highway is a constant work in progress but the scenery is always awesome
Been there a few times. Last time was 2019 on an Electra Glide (amazing, but cold) We're headed back this summer with my mother in law 🙌 Your choice of music is spot on!!!
@@sherrypersinger7056 Hope you guys have an awesome trip!
What’s different about the road now?
@@evilwhitey98 Th first time i drove the road it was for car and light trucks only and that was back in 2013,now you can drive or pull anything, took all the fun out of driving it plus its not a good road for bicycles to be on and now they are on it also.
