Skateboard deck comparison - 8.5 vs 9.75 - Which is best for the Old Guy?

Trying out my son's 8.5 inch popsicle deck vs. my 9.75 egg shape deck. Which one will win in a head to head shootout? I am leaning hard in one direction!

It’s interesting these deck sizes because I feel like the 8.62” Cardiel is my perfect size. As long as the trucks are 159s and I’ve got larger 54-56 mm wheels I’m solid and yet agile. But that’s what we want. Stability and agility.

Yea, that 9.75 is just too wide. I have small feet and can't always feel the edge of the board to know exactly where my feet are where I can on the 8.5 and I just feel better overall on that narrower board. There is also a lot of leverage on that wide board that really exaggerates any misplacement of your feet. I am looking to get one soon and will either go 8.5 or 8.6, we'll see what the local shop has.
