I said it on the Warren Haynes and Joe Bonamassa video and I'll say it here... I genuinely think this is one of the greatest pieces of music of all time for stoners.
@7:48 for me, this is one of the best blues-rock shred phrases I've ever heard and the squeal to end was PERFECT. Eric always seems like he's wrestling with the guitar, trying to push himself each time. Sometimes it works to perfection, sometimes not, but when it does it's something to behold. He's always raising the bar.
@3:05 when Joe looks at Eric and says 'That's bad-ass!' ... As a musician, it's hard to fathom that someone like Joe can be influenced/impressed by ANYONE, yet here we are.
Hes old school, he cant help it haha. Hes a junkie like me. Thank your blessed stars that this monster is still alive. For selfish reasons, stay clean and out of prison, Eric, the world needs YOU!
Let's get a band with Eric Gales, Rob Trujillo, Fred Durst and any drummers anyone can think of who wears 3/4 shorts... actually, that'd probably be a terrible idea, but never mind haha!!
Agreed, this is legendary stuff. Can you imagine seeing this by yourself. You'd be telling the tale of the great Joe-Eric battle at sea til the day the three ya on a casket
@Boyer Matthews I have seen Bonanamassa live and I have seen Gales live. I have not seen them live together, which is probably why I am still around to write this. I'm not sure anyone who actually saw this in-person lived to tell about it. Lol.
The raised third is a natural in the Phrygian Mode... nothing different about it. Don't make it unnecessarily complicated:) Joe is sticking with more with the minor pentatonic... but that is what makes it so universal:)
I told Eric about Joe in 2008 in Memphis when son and I were helping him with his early website, he had never heard of Joe. So I had a vision that one day they would get together on the same stage and maybe also in the studio, 13 years later it has come to pass. Eric's new release will be out later this year, probably last quarter. It is produced by Joe and he guests on some of the songs. I can't wait for it but I will wait for it, should be epic
It was such an epic moment to be standing about 10 feet away from them on the boat and watching this amazing back and forth. Much respect. So glad I went on this blues cruise.
There aren't enough thumbs up to give this performance what it deserves! There are my guys! Frampton is the cause of my music taste plug in play loud! I found Joe a few years ago and my soul jumped! There is actually music from my childhood being made TODAY!!!! WISH I'd found Joe so many many years ago! I felt like i was in desert for many years music wise!
Y'all I don't know how you feeling, but I got some whiskey down my throat listening to some blues and I'll be honest this is Clapton and Jimi doing what they do best!!!
Yeah, Joe was playing to the style of Eric, for the most part. Its nuts, because I've heard Gales do the same shit to other top of the heap players (Josh Smith, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, etc but never saw someone do it to him. Kudos to Joe! But @7:47, Gales strings together one of the nastiest 15secs licks I've ever heard. Either way we view this, its a full blown masterpiece of the highest level. Joe really brought his A-game here and so did Gales. Were all so lucky to have seen this. Edit: plus, hes playing in a phrygian mode, so as long as Joe's somewhat dialed in on the position it makes it much easier than many think. So a top tier pro can pull off shit like that. Joe is a hell of a musician, either way.
My sweet lord Jesus Christ! INFREAKINSANE guitar solo “duel”/jam! This will go down as one of the best! Joe is my all-time fave Blues-Rock guitarist, and Eric Gales is up there too on my top heroes, and this performance is my fave from them by far. I had a chance to watch Joe live in Manila in 2012, and it’s my fave concert so far. When Joe was about to leave the venue, I jumped the fence (with the other fans) to have a photo with him taken by the official event photographer who promised he would send us a copy of the pics but he never did! (I hope he sees this and sends us a copy) I was wearing a Dream Theater t-shirt and Joe noticed and said, “Cool shirt, great taste in music.” I flashed a big smile and we shook hands! Definitely my fave moment! Much love and respect to Joe, Eric, and all the Blues greats and players! 💯🔥🎸❤️
This is one of my favorite songs of Joe's and I love it every time I hear it...! OMG, I had to listen to it twice because of that epic Duel of the Guitar Solos between Joe and Eric...Fantastic guitar...!This was a great performance by everyone involved...🥰🥰🥰

I’ve never heard joe go full out like this. I guess it took him finally coming up against someone at his skill level. It’s nice to see what he’s really capable of every once in a while.
I've been fortunate to see Joe cut heads with many players over the years. He always has another gear if needed. Eric is one of the few that can truly hang with him. I saw him trade licks on acoustic with Monty Montgomery who believe it or not can shred blues if necessary. He not only surprised me but Joe had a wow moment.
It's so fun when you get to see two incredibly talented people who respect the hell out of each other create something together and have a blast doing it.

Wow...Joe is in my top ten players..period. Eric Gates, YOU are way good. I can't think of watching 2 masters of the 6 string that was any more fun than this..what a treat!!! Thanx guys!!!!
Eric in this performance makes me think of what might have been if Hendrix had gone on to play with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. His lick at 7:13 was so musical and yet so absolutely ripping at the same time. Of course, Joe smoked as well. My favorite Joe moments are 5:45 - 5:55 and 6:24 - 6:51.
