What is a 16 year old girl doing in downtown Minneapolis at midnight? Her parents belong in jail.

I don't know what people expect the police to do in a situation like this. Even if they had 10 cops on every city block, they couldn't possibly listen in on EVERY conversation. And the conservatives I see whining in the comment section wouldn't want them to be doing that anyway, because it would be an invasion of privacy. So If it's impossible to tackle all of these sporadic events before they escalate, do you really think there's any way for these crimes to be stopped in the moment before they occur? The only way this could've been prevented is if an officer was already in a vehicle with it idling at exactly the right place at exactly the right time, and had the reaction time of a superhuman. They're either in their cars at the steering wheel, or on the streets keeping an ear open for potential conflicts. They can't do both, y'all. The police aren't the primary solution to crime. They're just a means of ensured consequences for perpetrators.
Stop blaming the funding of the police for crime, and start focusing on the community that raised people who make decisions like this. This BS isn't going to stop until communities start taking responsibility for themselves and do what they need to do to prevent the behavior and mentalities that lead to crime before it precipitates into something like this. If anything, the community should be apologizing to the police department for having to deal with this BS.
