Currently watching at 3:30, but aren't you supposed to pivot into blue white with p5 oltec p6 petrify? Or at least consider it? What is the reasoning behind picking 3 red cards first pick then ignore the rest of the boosters till draft ends? I understand ignoring stuff like UG
He's very very high on izzet aggro, probably saw enough solid enough early great cards for that and forced. But yeah considering the pivot might have been really nice
Forcing after 3 great pics. Tempo format and r/u is busted in terms of tempo. Also BO1 increasing the effectiveness of agro = the nuts.... I actually hate watching nummy and these guys force this, makes drafting it impossible since everyone is mimicking. Also gives the illusion that u/r is open a lo lot when its actually the opposite. But due to them mostly showing good drafts they will more then likely be in a good color , hence all the b/r bo1 draft videos from everyone and their mother. That being said he started off with best two blue c/u and it wasn't really a force... but yes in b03 staying open especially to a top 3 deck like blue white would be the way to go at a pro tour where you know all drafters have nearly the same skill level. Yeah when you see the two best white commons in a row P1P5 and P6, you should probably take those over Volatile Wanderglyph and Inverted Iceberg. Pack 2 and 3 would've been much better too, basically UW one drop flying tribal with a bunch of one and two mana equipments.
I've always wanted to do a draft where I just let the timer run out and let it randomly choose my cards and see if I can make it work. But every time I decided to do that I open a major bomb and decide "screw that!"
This deck is to win on turn ~8. If the opponent manages to play 4/5 dinosaur - that's it, there are no removals. So I feel like the format is a bit broken in that sense.
Bored by all of these Blue-Red, Blue-White decks full of 1 & 2 mana drop tbh. Everyone is playing these and this limited format turned into the worst one I have ever played.
It is really annoying and it really feels like one of the worst limited every played, I think it's mostly a problem of the best of 1 format? I don't know, I haven't been able to play paper Best of 3 Ixalan limited... But yes on Arena Bo1 it's like the worst I've ever played so far (started playing Arena limited on AFR).
I personally like it, I mean worst ever seems like a stretch, Capenna wasn’t that long ago. Gruul is 3rd place in archetypes so at least 4 colors are playable. 1/2 the archetypes play really strong and the other half you can make work with the right cards.
30s later he does say it probably was better. He just wanted to go off whit the ship. One could maybe make the argument that it is better to spend the mana going wide. but I don't see that being the case
i dont know so far i always did green blue explore and i splashed white once for the rare that just makes ur nicanzill end as a 20/21 xD i have way more success with simic so far
You have to fight over basically all of the explore cards with people that are in other colors because explore is just generically good in any deck and most of them are fairly efficient creatures. UG CAN work really well if you get a good draft, but without getting some very specific cards, UG just kinda sucks.
I mean if you have Nicanzil it’s on rails, but you just have to get the right cards. I’ve seen it be unbeatable and I’ve seen it just never get going. So you have to make sure you have the payoffs and enablers in good proportions, and I think that turns some people off. Same reason why some people don’t like drafting sac decks. The proportions are a balancing act.

Agreed. Can we please get more formats where you dont look at cards in 2 of the 5 colors and go "nah these colors just arent good enough to draft."

There were three Akawali's in the packs. They boss these aggro decks, try it.

Maybe Im crazy, but theres no way im passing pick 5 Cloud Guard for Volatile Wanderglyph when my only red cards are Tomb Raider and Pick Ax.

My buddies and I did a draft the other day and my god is Orzhov vampires a sick deck. I 3-0’d and took first with it.
can't take signpost uncommon P1P2 and still refuses to admit this format is trashy

i dont know why people dislike simic, as long as u have nicanzill its just amazing
