I love the sound tests and in fact, one of my key frustrations with other UA-cam channel hosts is when they go on and on about how great-sounding an amplifier is, or a pair of speakers, a pair of headphones, etc, while NOT providing any sort of sound test and even though, yes, sound tests have all sorts of issues regarding file compression, recording limitations, playback limitations on viewers' amps, various headphones, or speaker setups, etc, they still give one a sense of the tonality, clarity, etc. of a particular product, so they are essential and fun. Frankly, there are too many keyboard critics on UA-cam that don't now how to have fun anymore if they understood that basic concept in the first place. So, summing up, keep up the great work, Utilitarian TV, and ignore the humourless whiners out there. :)
Mart. FYI. before I gave you the cassette deck it had new belts and pinch rollers on both wells and was completely stripped and serviced.. You can connect the stable platter CD player and the deck up via a mono 2.5mm audio cable. (might be 3.5mm), I can't remember off the top of my head. I have found the remote, if you want it? You know how to get in touch. Nice to see you are actually using it. just tell the haters where to go!.... We all love a sound test. Don't we?
To my ears, both tape decks sounded great with the Marantz beating the Pioneer by a hair, but honestly, either one would bring a lot of musical enjoyment to a music/media/living room. :)
Hey, since you already have a "Marantz" cassette deck...& they're all obsolete now anyways...wanna part with that Pioneer?!? 🤷🏼♂️😅 Just kidding ol' buddy, (kinda of) keep up the great work. 💯
The Pioneer has noticeably worse wow and flutter than the Marantz even though they have the same spec on paper in that respect. It's probably time for a belt change and maybe new pinch rollers in the Pioneer. The big advantage of Dolby C and S is that they're specifically designed to combat tape saturation (as well as providing excellent noise reduction), so a decent Type I tape with Dolby C or S will sound very similar to a Type IV tape. My blueprinted Teac V-1050 is flat from 20Hz to 20kHz within 1dB with a humble TDK FE Type I tape when using Dolby C. The same tape sounds awful without it.
I had that Pioneer good tape deck it's unfair to compare to double with a single tape deck.. Pioneer probably made the best tape decks.. They were all single.
Marantz more audiophile machines ,pioneer more disco ⚽ But the amps are another category i have a pioneer from the 90s av the sound it's fantastic Time to listen selling england by the pound The amp its 16 kg 😂
We all love a 'sound test' and we all know its not audiophile level but its fun as is the whole channel, keep it up mate!
