I am a Czech guy and I prefer Czech Republic over Czechia. Today everything has to be simple and short, I am not a fan of that ...
Honestly, it's not a big deal over here. People have been used to saying Czech Republic for decades, Czechia still sounds like a novelty to many people.
Plus, Czechia is technically only part of the whole country (kinda like Holland vs Netherlands). There's also Moravia and Silesia, which is where Ostrava happens to be, so the locals are more than happy with calling it by the longer name. :)
