The halcyon days of the 80s, where you paid £3.00 to see a band like the Chameleons and can still remember the utter magnificence of the evening nearly 40 years later.
Perfect end to the week. Hearing about a new album. Saw the photos of Mark and Kirk in a studio and thought what a pair of songwriting gems right there both with golden voices n'all.
Great to see Mark’s excitement about new material, nothing more depressing for a musician than constantly knocking out old material, great to reflect on the past but not live in it!
Most bands will have a few breaks from recording and playing gigs, back in the late 70s/80s we were so spoilt with bands playing gigs around the uk, i did regret not seeing The Smiths, but in 2000, i got the Strip ( acoustic album) + 2 new tracks Road to San Remo & Indian
Why does it matter if the songs go on you tube before the album is out? It doesn't make a blind bit of difference in this day and age. People who want to buy the album will buy it and watch the you tube clips...
@@JOHNROBBofficial Anything he puts out is good. I take no issue with that. It's just the repetitive setlists only drawing from the first three albums, even when it was ChameleonsVox and not the Chameleons. It's just getting old for me to see the same old songs. I am seeing a show this summer and I'm excited because they will be playing all of the secondary songs from Strange times.
I saw the chameleons 3 Times ( 24 years ago) the sound was amazing + 2 new songs It didn't bother me about them recording new material because they ain't a band like U2, Mark burgess is a great song writer whose work is original with surreal melodies
What an excellent debut Script Of The Bridge Was. The Chameleons , Comsat Angels & The Sound were the 3 great bands of the 80's that many missed.
Add Sad Lovers & Giants.
Woo! First new Chameleons album in 23 years!! Literally CANT wait!

Big thanks John for putting me onto this band 👍
If you're watching this in 2090 or something , congratulations on your absolutely impeccable taste. From one who witnessed it!
Excellent interview... cant wait to hear the new songs...

Curious to hear the rest of the new album.....
That looks like my kitchen, Artex ceiling and oak print cabinets.

It will be about time that they play songs post 1987. Mark seems stuck in the 80's with Chameleons song choices for the live shows.
he's recording a new album - sounds good from what I've heard...

Without John and Dave it doesn't make sense. But hey, You have to make a living.
New song is very average compared to their earlier material.
