Life is not still It marches relentlessly onwards With the single mindedness of a destructive child Hell-bent on breaking something, anything. Life is not still It throbs and pulsates With the timeless rhythm of an ancient drum, Insisting that we dance even on weary, aching feet. Life is not still But sometimes it sleeps, like the seed of a delicate flower Cocooned in the earth beneath a blanket of snow. Life is not still. It crashes and heaves and retreats and crashes again onto the shore Leaving a messy tangle of flotsam in its wake. Life is not still. But there is stillness to be found In hidden pockets and secret corners. And in that stillness, crouching in the darkness, awaiting discovery, is Joy. ❤
@@k3n.clothtales Thank you for this, your poem is one to keep. I had a thought - the poem you couldn't read to the camera because of copyright laws - could you have filmed the page and included it in the video? That way it can't be classed as a performance. Also, many writers do say in their books that their work can be used for performances /other. Does YT have a blanket ban to cover every possibility? I hope you're surviving the strong winds and heavy rain , you're more south westerly than here, so probably more affected than I am. Time for a sachet cappuccino and then get down to the household chores. Keep safe. UK. E♥️
Your poem put tears in my eyes. That was really so lovely and meaningful. I’m proud of you for showing yourself to us in that way. Your poetry, your words, are safe with us.
I have to mention, every time I go into my bedroom and see all my cats asleep on my bed, I greet them with "Hello lovely people " :D The poem resonated with me, beautiful and thought provoking. I love seeing Stella with the skitties. Now I have to give up writing as I have a cat in my face demanding attention. Thank you so much for sharing, Kathryn
Dear Kathryn, thank you so much for your work, feelings and poem! Life is not still! And in present circumstances I hope life will go on! Not only the show… Thanks for your kindness, wisdom and optimism! It is badly necessary now!
Hello Kathryn 😊 I watch wonky Wednesday and slow stitch Monday videos but I have found these Park (Home) Life Friday visits are my favorite. A variety of goodness. Slow journaling will be a wonderful journey with you. Have a lovely weekend. Thank you for sharing your life, talents, struggles and wisdom with us all. Blessings 🤗
Your poem is just lovely, thank you for sharing it! I too am a big fan of Mary Oliver and dance around like a gleeful child when I see snowflakes coming down. Your resilience and poise inspires me so, and I look forward to every post you gift us with❤
This was such a joy to wake up to. Thank you. I could listen to you all day and know that every time I will hear and see something that helps me. And in the midst of it all, there is always a LOL moment. Today’s moment was “don’t eat yellow snow”! That might just be my theme for the day. Thanks so much Kathryn. You are special. ❤
“There is joy”… goosebumps when you said that. True true true. It is always there and slowly comes out to envelope us. Thank you especially this morning for making me hear that
Life is not still is beautiful and heartfelt in every way. The takeaway is you find joy and beauty if you look. Emotions do need to be dealt with but dealing with them takes time. Every day gets a little bit better even when the new “Rockies” show up. You are doing beautifully. ❤️ to you dear Kathryn ! As your mug says YOU GOT THIS!
Kathryn, as always, I loved this video! You are such a dear, transparent woman! I feel as though I know you and I can't wait for your next video to be posted. I had to log in on my PC so that I could tell you how much I loved your poem. It really touched my heart. We all have the painful times in our lives, but I loved how joy was discovered in the end! Sometimes we have to look farther for it, but it is there in one form or another. I'm so grateful for this channel that you created so that we have a support community to lift us up! Hugs to you! ❤❤❤
I never want one of your videos to end! Getting to know you has been a joy! Your poem captured so many of the emotions of simply living and being present. May we all find the "still" and the "life" in our days
Hello dear Kathryn ❤ I loved being able to share your first snow with you and Stella!!! It's always magical! Your new kitchen shelf looks terrific! Your friend's art exibition is so beautiful and your poem is very moving. It's always a special time spent with you. ❤ ❤ ❤
Thank you, Kathryn, for all the beautiful and real parts of your life and your self that you share with us here! I admire your generosity and courage for doing so. You lifted my spirits a notch this morning which was just enough. And I found some extra enjoyment in drawing leaves outdoors, playing with my darling cat, and doing a little crochet practice trying my hand at copying the linen stitch which you expertly demonstrated. I loved your poem that you shared, not in a judging way, but for the internal explanation and use of words. I used to do that, write poetry, years ago. I liked what you said about using it as an alternate way to investigate one's own inner landscape. Sometimes stream of consciousness journaling is so direct and personal, for me, that I end up destroying it in time rather than leave it to be read by others should something happen to me... especially if I'm being critical of others. Anyway, I loved the snowy walk with you and Stella. Hugs from a Southern California friend💖☮️😸🧶🎨🍁🌲🐾
Dear Kathryn, I smiled, giggled inwardly, and finally cried silently in my throat as I went with you to the see the exhibition, round your cuffs in crochet, into the snow-sprinkled woodland with Stella, and then home again to see the changes you had made and to hear your plans and your poem. Sending hugs.
Another wonderful Friday . Thank you Kathryn . We all love your cloth tales, wonky Wednesdays and now journaling. I have been foraging on beaches and preparing my journal. Old book from a charity shop which will become, with your guidance, a wonderful cloth tale. I don’t know the words to show you how much your cloth tales have made to my life this year. Finding rusty items while out wandering brings smiles and thoughts of how they will be used.
Kathryn your poem really resonated with me as I am going though a challenging life journey, the words are so heartfelt and personal to you, thank you for sharing it. The crochet around your cuffs is lovely and set the sleeve's off nicely. Stella is such a joy to see bless her. Thank you so much Kathryn for what you do and for being you, you are a very special person, take care ♥️xx
Lovely poem and even more meaningful knowing the words are from your heart and experience. Rarely do people reach through the internet and gather my trust , but dear Kathryn, you are a rare and precious soul. A friend and loved one to so many of us, thank you for allowing us to know you and learn from you - not just about stitching and journaling, but about how to gently and mindfully walk this Earth and how to start embracing and loving ourselves more each day. Stay gold.
Oohh goosebumps as you read your poem, thank you again for the lovely journey you took all who tuned in through the snow and all else to then be safely back in your cosy, warm and magical home. All you teach, show and speak about makes for a beautiful evening in. Slow stitching as I watched tonight, from my heart I thank you for your beautiful and heartwarming channel. 💖
Life is not still, truer words have never been spoken! You are amazing in so many ways, stitching, thinking, writing, reading and always doing, I am thankful you have the resolve and strenth to share your journey with us. The snowy walk was similar to the kind of snow we usually get where I live, fleeting, here in the today gone tomorrow. Your small home is so tidy and organized, I have been in the my home for more than 20 years and I have so much stuff! I am inspired to purge, recyle and donate, much easier said than done, when I'd rather be stitching! Thanks again for the inspiratin
Dearest Kathryn...your poem went straight to my heart! So beautiful. I hope you'll share more of your poetry with us. I too have never wanted to sit down for a cuppa tea with someone so much in my life. I'm afraid we'd witter on until the wee hours of the morning! Looking forward to the journaling process. Stay warm! Hugs!
The art exhibition was glorious to see! I loved the printing with cloth on cloth and the one in the cafe "Life on the Edge?" was just amazing. I would never have been able to see this without your video. Thank you so much.
Beautiful poem, K3n, Brava! It brought to mind a verse I use at work sometimes: The tide recedes, but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand. The sun goes down but gentle warmth still lingers on the land. The music stops and yet it lingers on in sweet refrain. For every joy that passes something beautiful remains.
Sometimes when I’m feeling apprehensive about doing a task either big or small, I think of how brave and inspiring you are to me. I say to myself, “Come on Katherine get on with it”. It helps me to move forward. Thank you for sharing so much of your life. It has helped me greatly. Piece, Linda
Thank you for allowing us into your mind and sole. Poetry is so personal and revealing, it can expose one to the core. Yet despite the depths of sadness there is always hope, and you have that. You are inspirational. You have picked yourself up and are moving forward and finding joy in nature, your animals, friends and community and in your creativity. Sending love and hugs and a happy smile 😊 to wrap around you. ❤
Thank you for sharing your beautiful poem. I used to dabble at poetry but could never find the courage to share it with anyone. So I truly admire you for sending such thoughtful words out into the world for all of us to savor.
I crochet the same way you do and when people tell me I am doing it wrong I want to tell them that actually they are the one doing it wrong. I taught myself to crochet from a book in the 80's. It was great fun watching Stella play in the snow. Loved your poem, you are so brave to share your life with us, thank you.❤
Thank you K3N...... The serendipity of it all..... It all falls into place as it was meant to be. I didn't know but there you were and are. Our friend who brings and gives and shares in our invisible circles. So precious like you knew us from before.
I love the mishmash too Kathryn and your teaching of crochet makes me want to have a go. The star piece is your poem it's just beautiful and has a lovely flow to it. "Joy " sitting crouched in the corner is a brilliant image that you have created!!! Well done! After the devastion wrecked by Pandora opening the forbidden box "Hope" remained - shining a small light. This is a tricky season we are entering and your creativity will carry you along to the shores of 2025 and the new projects. Big love from Scotland as always ❤
Maria is an incredible artist. I love how she does so many different techniques but yet they are all her style. The printed one that looked like a city map was my favorite, it was just so unique. The video and your poem were wonderful. Park Home Life videos are my favorite, thank you for sharing your life with us, you are a very unique person.
What a beautiful and moving poem Kathryn! I'll copy it in my journal of beautiful words, phrases and poems. I've been collecting poems and phrases since I was a teenager, about 60 years! It's not a big collection though. I love what you call the mish-mash of life. I can so much relate to it! I'm still trying to understand it. You've said it beautifully, life is a journey of discovery, and joy is somewhere to be found every day. Thank you for the visit to the gallery. Thank you for the walk with Stella. It's amazing you've had snow before us here in Kingston, Ontario! Thank you for sharing this very special poem! ❤
Thank you for reading your poem to us and taking us with you for a walk in the snow. I don't get snow where I live and have only been in falling snow a few times in my life. ❤
as this year winds down i am looking forward to all the things you will share and we will make next year - i am grateful to have found this space - thank you
Everything in this visit was something of great interest to me. I had to book mark it in my crochet folder, and book mark it in home décor, as your valance was so beautiful and the arrangement on the shelf just accented beautifully all the aspects in the valance with the colors, themes, and natural aspects. It inspired me to consider more ways I can work with the places in my décor where I have commercial items that have no story. A book mark for the slow stitch file to remind me to come back to study your valance. I know what you mean about the glee of the first snow. Sometimes the grand kids are here then, to cover for me. We don't get enough of it to be tiresome. Finally, thanks again for letting us tag along to the art exhibition. My favorite was the same one you liked with the colors. Your poem was the cherry on top, and pleased you were willing to share it with us, as it was beautiful expression of my feelings as well. Warm hug.
I loved Maria’s show, so much green, and that is my favorite color! Especially liked the wall hanging at the entrance. We don’t much snow in central Texas, so happy to see onscreen.
My day has been lifted with this lovely visit-eo, Kathryn. I'm all in for your 'mish mash' and hope your weeks give back to you, all the pleasure you share with us.
Thank you Katherine for another wonderful glimpse into your world. As a Nth Queensland resident, absolutely loved the snowy woodland walk & the exhibition. Your poem resonates with how many of us journey through our lives. The shelf is a very handy addition. Look forward to the next episode.❤
Thank you for sharing....Park Home Life" the 'mish mash" , all the wonderful stitching ,up and coming journalling and perhaps more of your words/poetry,in the forthcoming year?.We'll be with you, for absolutely everything!! Bucket loads of inspiration. Janine x
This was such a lovely episode Kathryn. As much as I enjoy the stitching videos, the home life ones have become a fav. Wishing you a pleasant week with lots of tea and warm hands and feet. A hot water bottle is always a good idea when feeling chilly I find.
Let me chime in as another hold-like-a-knife crocheter😊 Feels as natural as breathing. 💚 Thank-you, Kathryn, for sharing your snowy day with us. There is that certain light, isn't there? Here in the mountains my walks are on cross-country skis. Winter can be so beautiful. I really enjoyed seeing the exhibition. I loved your poem.
Sunday with Kathryn. So peaceful...love the mish mash, as you called it. A hint of sadness touched my inner self but I didn't let it overcome my morning. Your trust in us all is beautiful. Can we feel like we are friends when in fact we may never meet? My personal answer is "yes". We need this common thread we are feeling telling us that no matter what trials we are facing or navigating there is always a special person that we feel connection with in some way. We have formed a kind and caring community and you have never faulted. You are a lovely soul. Thank you
Hello k3n and fur babies. Loved the artist exhibit, your walk, the crochet, and the beautifully poignant poem. Life ebbs and flows in ways we will never know the end or the detours. Beauty and joy can always be found in the vastness of darkness or hidden beneath our feet. I love poetry as well and thought I'd write a book one day....that was 20 years ago and it is still not near completion but the title is "A Butterfly Emerges". Maybe before I reach 70 I'll get that off my bucket list. Have a marvelous weekend. LJ in the heat of NM but high dessert.
Thank you for sharing your poem. I began learning to crochet last night with the assistance of my friend Linda, so it was amusing to see you crochet mending your sweater. The window dressing and shelf looks fab, I am always in need of additional display space. You do so inspire. ❤
Such a lovely episode Kathryn, I'm enjoying the "mish mash" as you call it. I'm glad you overcame your diffidence and read out your beautiful and heartfelt poem, Life is not still. Whilst it is clearly a measure of how you feel about your life over recent months, I could so identify with it, as I'm sure could many of your other subscribers. Thank you for sharing 🤗
Thank you so much for this lovely video and for reading your wonderful poem. I enjoy doing lots of different craft but crochet has always passed me by … until now. I really liked the crochet pattern you demonstrated and will be playing this video over and over while I practise. Can’t wait yo shrink a few jumpers! Thank you for being you ❤
Dear Kathryn, Thank you for showing the snow. I live in St. Augustine, Florida and only get to experience it when and if I travel north all day to the mountains. I always enjoy your videos and I'm finally getting the hang of some of the stitches. I love the feeling I get when I hand stitch. I think of my female ancestors and often feel a closeness to them as I sew. I have several pieces my Greatmother made and my Great Aunt. I get to sleep under a quilt they made together when it's cool enough. I love what you do and you are a beautiful being.
Very pretty. I have been embroiderying on my sleeves and stitching flowers now i need to crochet my sleeves too. You are a teacher with a calming voice❤ good instructions.
Your poem is beautiful, thank you so much for sharing it with us. I feel such a deep connection with you as a dear friend. I’m so grateful that we’ve met. Warmest hugs to you, and your dear fur-friends ❤
Your videos NEVER disappoint- always such a gentle joy to watch & listen to you.I had started writing down words that spoke to me for whatever reason a few years ago and then later found out it's a thing- common place books. It is a very lovely thing to keep & I look forward to watching you journalling words next year. ThankU for another lovely, warm, genuine & interesting video ❤
Kathryn, your poem is truly wonderful. You inspired me to stitch again and go far beyond anything I did before; now I think you may be coaxing my words out of hiding, too. Thank you ❤❤❤
I want to start by saying that if you crochet funny then so do I 😀 I hold my hook the same way you do, and tension with my little finger on the left hand. I really do enjoy these videos, little snippets into your life. Your poem resonated with me. “Life is not still” “ there is joy” I felt it in my bones when you read it, and that is exactly how I want to feel when I hear poetry. I am an on again off again journal person. I think that just like other arts journaling is a way to get out of your head and into your hands. A way to let the words out.
Lovley again, Kathryn. I took my dog to the lake for a dip. I noticed a rag in the mud and pulled it out to take home and throw in the bin. It was all stained from the rocks and full of holes. A year ago, I would have said "yuck", instead, I could see all the potential for a terrific sewing project . Deliciously grungy 😅 I'm converted forever !!!
I love your cozy home. Each time you add something new it gets cozier. I picture myself sitting at your little table and having a good cup of tea and some good conversation! Your poem was beautiful! Funny, recently I've been thinking of reading some poetry and now I'll look into the book you mentioned. Looking forward to the next park life video. Thank you, Kathryn. ❤
Love your videos. So glad you are moving forward in your life and giving all of us permission to do the same. You are such a beautiful treasure sweet Kathryn ❤
Your poem is lovely along with all the other things you show us. I started teaching my 10 year old grandson cross stitch last week it was another way of him exercising his thumbs 😂 he actually got into the flow and although he didn’t finish what he was doing he has just messaged to say he wants to do the other cross stitch at home by himself. He leads such a busy life it’s always about finding time
Life is not still
It marches relentlessly onwards
With the single mindedness of a
destructive child
Hell-bent on breaking something,
anything.
Life is not still
It throbs and pulsates
With the timeless rhythm of an
ancient drum,
Insisting that we dance even on
weary, aching feet.
Life is not still
But sometimes it sleeps, like the seed of
a delicate flower
Cocooned in the earth beneath a blanket
of snow.
Life is not still.
It crashes and heaves and retreats and crashes again
onto the shore
Leaving a messy tangle of flotsam
in its wake.
Life is not still.
But there is stillness to be found
In hidden pockets and
secret corners.
And in that stillness,
crouching in the darkness,
awaiting discovery,
is Joy. ❤

You've said it beautifully, life is a journey of discovery, and joy is somewhere to be found every day. Thank you for the visit to the gallery. Thank you for the walk with Stella. It's amazing you've had snow before us here in Kingston, Ontario! Thank you for sharing this very special poem! ❤
Thank you for sharing your beautiful poem with us.
Love the poem. Thanks for recommending it. And your own poem. Wow!
Such fun to see Stella going loopy in the snow.
Loved your poem - thank you for sharing xx
Thank you for reading your poem to us and taking us with you for a walk in the snow. I don't get snow where I live and have only been in falling snow a few times in my life. ❤
as this year winds down i am looking forward to all the things you will share and we will make next year - i am grateful to have found this space - thank you
Thank you for sharing your lovely poem. So nice
What a beautiful exhibition. Thank you for sharing … Take care, stay warm 😘
Beautiful poem ! Thank you for sharing......
Kathryn you made me cry - it resonated. Keep it up girlie. You doin' good. Thank you.
I love your poem, thank you for taking the risk to share it.
Lovely poem, Kathryn. I am going to write it down and re-read it often. Thank you for sharing it with us.

What a beautiful poem, thank you for reading it ❤
Thank you Katherine for another wonderful glimpse into your world.
Thank you
Thank you Maureen, yes I think we are friends who have never met ❤️
Beautiful poem. Very moving knowing your journey. Thank you so much for sharing 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your poem. It resonated with me on many levels.
That was lovely....again...thank you for sharing a mish mash of ....'You'🤗 xx
So enjoy watching your channel. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. You are an inspiration to so many.
Thank you ❤❤❤
Lots of love Wendy, it makes me so happy to hear that ❤️
I want to start by saying that if you crochet funny then so do I 😀 I hold my hook the same way you do, and tension with my little finger on the left hand.
Yes. Out of your head and into your hands is a lovely way to put it ❤️
Beautiful poem, I enjoyed this video. I love your kitchen window treatment, the shelf is a great idea.
Buried treasure 😁❤️
Your poem is wonderful and so personal that I think it would resonate with most everyone. Thank you for sharing. ❣🦋
Your poem is lovely….inspiring and thoughtful like everything else you share with us. Look forward to all of it. 🥰
Thank you for taking me on a walk in the snow ❄️😍❄️
I really love your poem 💚
I love your cozy home. Each time you add something new it gets cozier. I picture myself sitting at your little table and having a good cup of tea and some good conversation! Your poem was beautiful! Funny, recently I've been thinking of reading some poetry and now I'll look into the book you mentioned. Looking forward to the next park life video. Thank you, Kathryn. ❤
Thanks, we love watching you make your new home and the lovely walks with Stella. We went to your exhibition in Shaftesbury and very much enjoyed it.
Thank you so much ❤️
Love your poem😊 And will be looking forward to the whole journal series!
He leads such a busy life it’s always about finding time
I think your poem is beautiful. ❤
