It's amazing how Maya was the most realistic, misunderstood, troubled and sad character whose experienced a lot of hardships - yet majority of the time no one believes her. Riley was the most unrealistic, fantastical thinking, optimistic, and idealistic character - yet everybody follows her. So Riley gets the happy family, the boy, the great friends, the great brother, and the great uncle. Maya gets a manipulative friendship, a manipulative crush, a father that left, a father that appeared out of nowhere, a mother who leaves all her parenting to the Matthews, a guys she likes who picks her best friend over her, and people who believe she's not being herself. Wow, they deserve whatever they got huh. 🙄🙄🙄 (I'm just glad Maya and Shawn both got happy endings from each other. That's the only good thing that happened in season 3 I swear.)
I haven't seen many episodes of this show but for what I get from these videos and the comment section is that Maya kinda reminds me of Sam from Icarly. I don't know who Shawn is but I'm glad Maya got a happy ending even if I prefer Maya with Lucas.
the problem was that they didn't stick to letting Lucas and Maya figure out how to become a real couple and what it really means to date someone that you like and force Riley back to create a love triangle just because she was the main character. It would have been better if they let Riley discover with us (the audience) how the struggles and good parts of a newly couple would look like and then let her find someone that suits her more and let us see how she takes all she learned from Lucas and Maya and make her own experiences what it's like to date someone and be together with someone you have deeper feelings. Letting Lucas and Maya discover what they really meant for each other and realizing that it is the right thing to do would have been a way bigger character development for Riley and it would have shown that sometimes you just have to look a little longer to find the right one but if you find the right one it was worth the wait. It would have been the better lesson because in boy meets world we had the love at first sight love story and now we could have gotten the search for something special and not forcing her to stick to the first guy she showed interest in.

Gmw is forever in BMW shadow. But the one thing gmw was pushing was the message "people change people", so it shocked me when Lucas and maya weren't end game. Because the whole motif people change people. And riley and Lucas in the end only seemed to get together because of their forced "parallel" to cory and topanga. I think it would have been far more influential to see a more realistic end to the triangle, because riley didn't even like all aspects of Lucas, she only liked the good. But maya liked all of him, bad and good.
