Great vlog! Best weather is generally September through early November and late April through May. Summer is foggy and winter usually (and hopefully) rainy. San Francisco has changed dramatically in my lifetime and is now a place of extreme wealth with pockets of poverty. It used to be basically a middle class city. Although now retired to Palm Springs, I am a native who has walked the streets for over 50 years. The homelessness has been a problem since the Reagan years when the state mental hospitals were closed and has only gotten worse with the rising prices of rents that make it impossible to find cheap housing anywhere which is further exacerbated by the rise of the drug culture. The Tenderloin has been a neighborhood to avoid for as long as I can remember. As in any city, if one is careful there are many fantastic things to see and experience so don't listen to news casters. I similarly was told to avoid Rio de Janeiro and am so happy I visited. I was careful and had a fantastic experience. Love your wonderful family and looking forward to future travels. Stay safe, treasure these memories that will last a lifetime and again thanks so much for taking us along. As a native Californian I do have to tell you that I love Maine.

There are tons of very unique stuff to explore in San Francisco if you have the time. Artwork, stairs, houses (the Victorian Ladies), ethnic neighborhoods, and Golden Gate Park itself.
But, as we Northern Californians know, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.", Mark Twain,.

When Allison and I moved to Seattle from LA 11 years ago, we were not willing to let the dogs fly, so we rented an RV from CruiseAmerica and drove up the Pacific Coast Highway. When we drove the RV over the bridge, the two of us were both choked up and crying as we drove over the bridge. Two crazy people who grew up 11000 miles away in South Africa driving an RV over the Golden Gate Bridge! Who woulda thunk it?! We still talk about it as one of our all-time bucket-list trips!

Hi Y'all, Thank you for helping me relive some great memories. Golden Gate Park had a Cross-Section of the Cables used in the bridge, up close, they look massive Cory! There were also signs that said "Don't Eat the Squirrels" - I kid you not. We actually camped in a City block-sized "campground" in town next to the Freeway. I think progress got that one... I was amazed when you showed the Fisherman's Wharf sign and didn't stop to eat - What?! Thank you with all my heart for the sacrifices of You and all our amazing Veterans and your families. Your girls are becoming young ladies right before our eyes!

Having grown up 70 miles or so north of SF in Bodega Bay, rust is a constant. The fog is straight off the ocean surface carrying that salt with it. For future visits bring a sander, cordless if you can, and Krylon spray paint. The Krylon holds tough against the rust. Use heavy grit sandpaper so the Krylon has a better grip and you're good to go.
Also, for future plans, mid-summer through late fall is the worst time as the fog is ever-present during those times.
And remember, Mark Twain once said "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."
    Have fun!

Fantastic video! The plants all up and down the coast of California is called " Ice Plant'. It is great ground cover, so prevents erosion. It can handle heat & cold. Doesn't need watering as it gathers moisture from the fog and sea spray. The salt doesn't effect it. Yes your right, San Francisco is such a unique place. Such an interesting history & culture. Can you imagine living on Lombardy Street. Alcatraz is an amazing place to visit. You need to come back to ride the cable cars and go to the cable car museum. Too many amazing places to see in San Francisco. You will have to come back...

Thanks for the military shout out!
My dad signed into the US Navy in his hometown of SAN FRANCISCO ❤️
My ancestors family members worked on the GOLDEN GATE Bridge. (The “I thought it would be taller” was priceless!)
I believe it was Mark Twain who said:
“The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.”
After he retired from the Navy, we settled back in the “Bay Area”! I worked in the “city”, all our family live/lived there. My dear cousin was SGT in the SFPD , was killed in the line of duty on Van Ness st.
Lastly, I met my Navy ‘‘honey’ in Alameda (across the bay from SF) and continued the Navy adventure!
Sorry you missed Coit Tower! It looks like a Fire Hose and is dedicated to firemen. You did well though on a lot of highlights !

The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill👍
So some interesting info from a resident that lived about 8 minutes from Baker Beach. Sunny weather starts in September- goes - through May. Then your in CA coastal fog season. Crime is high around tourist areas unfortunately. Locals ride busses, motorcycles, bikes, walk, etc. SF is very compact and easy to live in without a car. Which is why Uber and lyft basically started here. Pacifica is by far the worst regarding fog days.
The coolest free tour you can do is the cable car cable house. Look it up its a hidden treasure and super cool. 👍

LOL! I lived in Pacifica for 22 years! I liked the weather even less than in SF, where I was born. However, that's where the houses we could afford were. (I was still with my ex at the time.)
So, they're calling it the "San Francisco" RV park now?? What a laugh. Yeah..the rust. We fought it a mile away up on the hill where we lived. Cars had the bottoms of their doors rust out, trunk lids, etc. It's known as "coastside cancer."
Sorry Mazzetti's was closed--hope you tried again the next day. Yummy!
And yes, the erosion along that whole stretch of shoreline is happening really fast. There were two apartment buildings further north of there that had to be condemned and torn down. (Never should have been built in the first place!)
And it looks like you were at Baker Beach, just west of the GG Bridge...careful there...the far east end of that beach is not family friendly: it's "clothing optional." :-O (IMO, never warm enought for that out there, but to each their own--looks like no one else was there who thought it was warm enough, either! LOL!)
The multi-colored houses are "relatively" new...and it's due to an influx of people from other places in the world. When I was growing up in the 50s and 60s, it was known as "The White City," and that referred to the color of the houses, not the people. It was rare to see a house painted any other color.
My dad told that back in his bachelor days (1920s), Lombard street was actually a 2-way street! Can you imagine!? And...it's the famous touristy street, but Vermont street between 20th and 22nd streets is actually more cooked. But it's across town in a neighborhood known as Potrero Hill, a much more working-class area; no glam.
Wow--Fisherman's Wharf has certainly changed! There used to be a high-class restaurant on that corner that now appears to sport an Applebee's!
But--you'll have to come back again. There's still Coit Tower, and Golden Gate Park, historic Mission Dolores, and of course, you missed the cable cars on this trip...so sad...

I used to go to Frisco in the 70s. It was better back then. We used to go to Fisherman's Wharf we ate at a restaurant called DiMaggio's, Joe DiMaggio owned it. it was a good time

It is a beautiful place! And we couldn't believe how much of the beach had eroded away! And we didn't know about the nude end of the beach but apparently it was too cold the day we were there so it wasn't an issue! 😂 I can't imagine the 2 way Lombard Street! Thank you so much for watching and all the information!

Thank you for your positivity and showing San Francisco in the best light you could. It’s a beautiful city and hope one day it returns to its grandeur. Your shots of the bridge were amazing and different than any shot I’ve seen. Thank you for your service Corey and yes unfortunately the sacrifices are taken for granted by too many nowadays but we are thankful.

We were in SF in 2005 and stayed at that RV park on that front row overlooking the cliff and the ocean. We paid $65/night; it was the most we ever paid for a campsite. We explored the city using BART.

"The Streets of San Francisco" and "Nash Bridges" for TV "What's Up, Doc?" for movies in addition to "Bullit", etc.

I grew up in San Francisco its always foggy lol. Re: crime we grew up learning to lock our doors and hide our valuables in the car like you said that’s what comes with living in a city. I am surprised that you didn’t check out all the military history in SF.
Now I live 2 hours away now and take for granted that its right there but never visit. Thank you for your videos and reminding me why I love that city need to get back there.
I totally remember TGIF and just started streaming Family Matters :) My favorite San Francisco movies are Mrs. Doubtfire and the Presidio with Mark Harmon, Meg Ryan and Sean Connery ( I like it for the scenery and I was on set for some of the filming my mom worked on base as a civilian).
Have a great rest of your trip!

You showed us a wonderful trip, wondering how you felt about the crime and homeless population in San Fran. In one spot when you were looking at the painted ladies, it looked like there was a tent city across from them. You made me think about it, but I don't know if I could visit a city with so many problems. Love your videos. This one made me think about a lot of my preconceptions of CA, some good, some bad.

When I was a kid we went down Lthe windiest road in the world there in San Francisco in a 1974 chevy station wagon. We took a bicycle ride down the wharf and got a great lesson from the driver.

When I saw you guys were heading to San Francisco I was going to warn you don't leave anything in your car visible.. but I remember your videos are actually behind today's date.. but you've been in my backyard.. i pretty much grew up on Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz Beach.. We also like Pacifica and still go there.. But we no longer go anywhere near San Francisco it's become extremely high crime due to politics.. and it's hard to even breathe by Pier 39.. The stink from homeless is horrendous.. So glad you guys are safe and had fun.. TV shows.. The Streets of San Francisco.. McMillan & Wife.. Monk.. I'm pretty sure the first two I mentioned you're too young to know..
