Hello everyone! I have noticed that a lot of you have questions about the winch install and or equipment on the truck. I will be making a video soon to address these questions, thank you for hanging in there!
Absolutely excellent. Best step-by-step video for LX570 winch install that I’ve seen. Workmanship & attention to detail are 100%. Please post more on your LX rig (including aftermarket skidplates).
Also thank you for a quality video. I was able to get my bumper off and winch mounted in the below freezing temps in about 90 mins. Just have to finish the fairlead install and put the bumper cover back on.
Nice setup and good job on the video. Only bummer I think is loosing some of that factory crash protection. I would have been nice to see the winch plate reuse some of that crashbar. Now I wished I had a Land Cruiser. Haha
Yes I'm definitely with you on the crash bar structure loss. I looked at the other manufacturers around the world and only Asfir had something along the idea of crash protection, but availability was an issue and so was the communication with the seller (They are located in Israel)
I know this is old but when doing a hidden winch you should opt for a wireless clutch winch like the WARN Platinum line. Then you don’t need to reach in and turn your clutch lever.
What winch plate are you using ? and where did you buy it, I have a 2018 land cruiser i want to do this to Thank you and this is the best how to video I have seen ever, very good video sir
Thank you kindly for the good words as this is my first video and I know we can do better in the future. The winch plate is made by Trail Tailor and available on their website.
Thank you for posting this informative video, I was wondering where did you buy and what brand is your skid plate? I have a 2013 LX and the bottom plate is quite rusty and would like to upgrade for rock protection since I do light off roading. Keep up the good work.
Do you know the exact measurements of the winches mount? And also, if you khow if it is possible to and how to make the mount myself could you show me the link to the instruction manual or somethink alike? Thank you.
The rims are OEM Toyota Tundra Rock Warrior edition manufactured between 2010 -13 and are 17" They are very popular among 100 and 200 series Land Cruiser owners and pretty hard to find for reasonable $$$. Tires are Good Year Wrangler Duratracks in size 285 / 70 /17 without any spacers.
The 2 fairleads stacked together work well and Yes I had tested this set up multiple times. If anything it helps to keep the bumper firmly in place as it lost the crash bar behind it during installation process.
Great explanation of the install. I have the same mount waiting for a time I can install it. I see that you sandwiched the bumper plastic between the mount and the outside fairlead. I was told the fairlead mounts directly to the mount and the bumper is cut out around the fairlead, so it sits lose around the fairlead. I was thinking of doing the same thing you did but wasn't sure if the bumper would be affected or stressed when winching. Have you been able to test it out yet? That's one reason I have held off from mounting. Once you cut the hole bigger than the fairlead then there is no going back and you have to find a way to put trim around the plastic to make it look right.
How thick was the fairlead you used as a spacer? I am almost done with my mount and have an extra 1.5” thick fairlead but it is odd shaped. The one you used was very compact and looked like maybe 1” thick.
Hi there, Can you please tell me if you had enough cable length to reach up to the battery for connection. Also, do you like this winch or would you recommend something different , also, what did use use to slide the control box ove to the left, so theres 3 question i hope you can answer for me Thank you very much
Thank you for asking and here are the answers: - Yes there is more than enough length of the cable to reach the battery terminals. - I really like the Smittybilt X20 winch and had one on my old 100 series for 5 years without any issues. Used it for recovery at least 20 times for myself and my friends vehicles and loved the fact that it was Ip68 waterproof and had the option of wired if need be and for convenience wireless controller. - The control box had to be moved to the left mainly because there is a vertical bracket near the center of the radiator support in the way. I used one original mount for the box and fabricated a second one to keep the box leveled and firmly mounted.
I can't remember the exact manufacturer as it was a left over from another project in my garage, but it was aluminum made, 3/4" thick and a perfect match to the one that came with the winch. Given the abount of room there even a 1" thick would work well too.
I am not going to defend the product that is not made by me, but there is absolutely nothing flimsy about this !! That is a one stout and heavy steel and is well put together. I have successfully pulled another 6000 lbs rig out of a ditch and it worked like a charm. In person you would change your mind about that.

Still waiting for that video you promised.
Your installation instruction video is the only good one on UA-cam

The best explanation I've ever heard.
Well done!
Now I want a 570
Thanks for the detailed breakdown of the front bumper and winch install.
Had to do some front end repair on my 2009 LX570, I 've watched this video at least 10 times! Very informative and well done. Thank you!
You are quite welcome !!

Thank you for this tutorial!
My pleasure!
Please do a walkthrough video of your Lexus! It looks great!
Darn good explaining you have a knack for this

Super clean look.
👍Yes Sir, that was the target
Thanks for making this video!
How does removal of the factory crash bar affect insurance?
I know this is an older video, but what mounting bracket did you use. I have a 2011 LX and am having trouble finding one.
Great video. What rims and wheel size are running?
What winch plate are you using ? and where did you buy it, I have a 2018 land cruiser i want to do this to Thank you and this is the best how to video I have seen ever, very good video sir

Thank you for the video. I have a couple of questions- what rims size & offset and tyres are you running?

Interesting that you stacked two fairleads. Any issues while winching?

Hi, can you tell me what winch mount this is?
@@osamaqarni4534 trail tailor hidden winch mount
How do you adjust the free spool lever? Can you stick your arm in there without removing the grill or bumper?
Once I open up the hood, I can reach behind the grill. I hope this helps!
It does! Thanks
Where do you get the winch cradle? Who is the supplier?
Trail-tailor.com
Will this fit in a 2009 lx570?
Yes it will.

hi i will like to know where did you buy your winch mount
Trailtailor.com has the winch mount
Do you have a second battery?
No second battery, when the winch is used the engine is running and the alternator helps with electric power drain.
What is the model fairlead that you used in addition to the smittybilt one?
I can't remember the exact manufacturer as it was a left over from another project in my garage, but it was aluminum made, 3/4" thick and a perfect match to the one that came with the winch.

Can't remember as it was a left over from another project
Any suggestion for 2017 model?
The install is pretty much the same the only difference is the front bumper
very good winch, but that holder and 3 bolt-on each side mount are not gonna take even 3K lb of bulling force they look v ery flimsy to me

Where are you buy this winch? And price
The winch was about $650.00 and purchased from 4wheelparts.com
Do you have a link or the model for the hidden winch mount itself? Trying to purchase for my 2011 LX570
