I played a chord today that I don't know the name of but sounded nice. It's the index finger on the 1st fret of the E string and that's it. Very simple but sounds nice. What chord is it?

cool! that's actually a variation of an F chord - Fadd9. It does sound nice! and some ppl use it as an easier version of the F chord at first.

@@PierreHacheMusic cool thanks so much! I looked at the few chord charts I could find and it wasn't listed. I alternated it with the C chord and it gave a really nice effect.
I think I also did the C simultaneously with the Fadd9 and it made another cool sounding note. I'm away from my uke now so can't try it out to confirm but if so, I'm not sure what that chord is called either 😆
Also, is there a name for when you quickly toggle back and forth between notes or chords while playing. I know on the flute, it's called a trill but not sure what it's called on ukulele.
Sorry for all the questions! Thanks!

Unfortunately the 2020 is *not* a D 7 - though it makes a great substitution for one.
Obviously you’re not alone in misnaming it, but if this is a D7 then 0003 is an Am7.

Hey dave! Thanks for your comment! It's what you'd call a rootless voicing - it has all the notes for D7, except the D! F#, A and C. Ask any jazz musician and they'll tell you you don't need that root! ;) also, try it in a song with D7, you'll see it sounds great. But yes it's also like an F# chord - depends on the context. so great point! if you do the barred voicing (2223) then you'd add the root on the first string. also cool. And yes! technically 0003 IS a voicing of Am7.
