- Another updated video with the latest data. Also there're statistical adjustments to Opera, Firefox and Safari numbers thanks to the additional data sources. This should reflect browsers market share with much better accuracy than my previous video. Timeline of worldwide desktop web browsers popularity from 1996 to 2022. Data sources: aggregated statistics from OneStat, LiveInternet, TheCounter, SimilarWeb, Wikimedia, W3Counter and StatCounter.
As always, your feedback is welcome.

I kept my notifications in for this channel hoping one day it would come back, and sure enough it did! Welcome back!
Thank you!
Same!
Ill never give up Firefox....my favorite browser forever
Does it still work with adblock? I had always issues with that so i switched to brave browser some years ago.
@@smarttoaster9552 yeah, both on PC and mobile, love it for that
One of the shittiest
@@P4rtysan OK, thx, i ll try
Just wanted to write that I use firefox. I thought I was alone with that
Welcome back Data Is Beautiful! You've been missed!
My friend you finally came back ❤️❤️❤️. This time please be consistent forever and make us happy to show more data videos
Idk, I’m guessing if they left it was for good reason (which honestly any reason is good enough) I’m just happy a good thing is back for as long as it is here 🥰💜
@@Punkanova he had a double whammy of graduate school and a new child.
It'll be interesting to see what the % will be next year when Chrome drops support for Manifest V2 extensions (this will impact adblockers)
Probably couple of % shift.
Google already pre-emptively sabotaged the competition. Since Edge is Chromium-based, Firefox was the real danger. Google donated a big wedge of money to Mozilla in exchange for seats on their board, then immediately hijacked the board and kicked all the open source people out, then salted malware into Firefox which forced people to "upgrade" to Quantum whether they wanted to or not, which incorporates Chromium control. Google has been planning to destroy ad-blocking for 10+ years.
I haven't heard about this. I'll drop Chrome the second it tries to mess with my adblocker.
Something tells me while the percentage WILL shift, there won't be THAT big of a difference. I feel as if a lot of people use chrome as it is, without adblockers. Those people won't care. But people like me have already started shifting to firefox. I am currently using both Chrome and Firefox.
I didn't even know about that. Def will go back to firefox, I'm not sure why I switched in the first place. I think I needed chrome specifically for something, then just stuck with it. It wasn't because I thought it was "better". I actually made it look and function like firefox.
I remember at one time the Opera browser was very popular in Russia. Everyone I went to at the time had Opera installed.
Yeah, in 2007 i even thought, that opera = internet xD (Internet has just been connected to our home)
I am so old, I remember when we all started using Netscape, then switched to using IE, then to Safari, then everyone switched to Firefox, then absolutely everyone to Chrome, and then finally everyone avoiding using Edge even when Windows tried to make you switch--even after Windows basically turned it into Chrome.
Lets go firefox! 2023 will be the year of the browser change. Chrome manifest V2 going away and everyday people getting more serious about their privacy will do away with most Chrome based browsers, such as Chrome, Edge, and Opera. Firefox has better support than ever making the switch seamless. We will see massive headlines about Firefox in 2023, for good reasons.
@nooba yerba noo Probably. But the people that do, the most vocal percentage, will be the one's making the headlines. Once "most people" learn that ad blockers no longer work, they will either continue to not care or learn what to do.
Awesome visualization! Keep up the awesome work.
Edge is actually much better organized than chrome these days. Feels faster as well.
It's getting better, I agree.
I missed the uploads! Welcome back! 🔥
I've never used it before, but kudos to Opera for hanging in there that whole time!
I'm excited to see what type of data videos you'll do next! I'm wondering what you haven't done yet...
Thank you for your skills and knowledge in doing this. So good to see an upload from you.
You're finally back! Thank you for your return.
Welcome back my friend
Hope you stay as long as its possible from now on ^^
Back to back videos from data is beautiful. CRAZY!!!
I expect Firefox to grow in market share in 2023, but not overtake anybody yet
No way. It's already been trending down for the last decade. It had its run though.
@@qman66 Chrome extensions are set to expire soon

welcome back bruv , i thought you were gone for good
Finally you are back! I love your videos!
Excellent video, don't stop 😁
Another one so quickly. Lucky us! Thank you. 😁
Glad you are back. You were very missed.
It used to drive me crazy when I would try to fix some sort of technical problem involving the internet on my computer, and people who didn't really want to help me would just say switch to Firefox when I said my browser was internet explorer.
It's been so long. Welcome back!
Wow, Opera is always on the chart!
Legend.
I like how Opera, though at the bottom, never truly fell off the list. It has some dedicated supporters, and I've recently started using their GX browser and fell in love with it.
Core audience is strong.
i like opera. i don´t use it as my main brwoser (thats firefox) but it has some really nice features (like integrated vpn) that are useful
Best browser for tablet for me
Welcome back! We missed you!
These videos are so mesmerizing🙌🏼
Agree
Thank you, IE, for your service. It wasn't the best at times (who am I kidding, it was the worst), but at the very least, you had our backs whenever we wanted to download Chrome.
I was waiting a new video hopefully
Thanks a lot for your job)
yes, another video! 🥰
Love that your back friend
There is no really big difference between browsers because most of them use Google as the search engine but they have different themes and more
Thank you so much we missed you
Glad to see you backed! :)
Welcome back you were missed.
I love that owl, it's so cute!
Also, I never knew using Opera was that uncommon, pretty interesting
thank u for coming back bae
You finally upload!
OMG, why so few people use firefox.. really strange.
It had its moment.
people changed to brave browser.
Welcome back!
HE CAME BACK OMGGG ❤️
Epic video!
Feedback! (You asked for it!) It is a very interesting video. However if you were able to go back further in time (Netscape was not the first browser and was released in 1994) it would be even more interesting. 😃
You are back!
Firefox is so underrated... Sad to see Firefox fall down like this.
Yay u uploaded again!
fr bro
BACK TO BACK YOU ARE INSANE!
Bro you are back
Welcome back :D
After 2 years ❤️
Damn what an unexpected comeback! 😄
Ah yes time to binge all the new videos!! I love the background songs you use. Cmon brave browser gogo!!
Edit: Genuinely surprised it didn't place, the creator of Firefox created it.
Hope you enjoy!
Don't burn yourself out trying to catch up! I don't need a video every day, but I'll definitely watch them!
Idk man.. it's starting to bother me knowing there're dozens of videos with outdated numbers.
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial if it's not burnout to do it, have at it then! As always, very interesting content. I'll watch every update!
nice update!
Thanks!
Welcome back
Return of the legend
I have been using Opera, but I can't imagine its market share is so low. I hope that opera can increase its market share in the future.
There're people in comments here who were looking for at least one Opera user :)
I used to use Opera back around 2010, but jumped ship when they changed browser engines. Currently using Vivaldi, which has some of the old Opera people working on it.
right now i switched from chrome to opera, it's not as resource efficient as chrome but it uses less which is perfect for my old pc
hey welcome back!!!! :)
Thanks!
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial ciao from Italy!
Omg!!! I almost unsubbed cuz it had been so long 😭 Welcome back!!!
Idk why I prefer the other music u use but welcome back in anyway
Yep, another one is epic!
OMG YOU’RE BACK
Good sir
He's back
We've all missed you!
welcome back!
Look who's back!
Now that is beautiful!
Welcome back, you are our king! :)
UPD: Congrats on becoming a father!
Thank you!
I'd love to see if you could update the product logos in your videos, when the product changes it, to see the logo history and compare it to the proportion of the usage. For example the old EdgeHTML based Edge with the shown old logo was poor and the new Chromium based with with the new logo caused the success of Edge in 2020 :)
Noted!
youre back!!!!
When the world needed him most, he came back
Please make more videos!
Imagine being that guy who's still using Netscape in 2012...
We all love you so much!!!!!
i dont think people realize how better edge is to chrome, which is usually how it is when a revamp happens
I hope you understand Chrome and Edge are based on the same Chromium...they are the same program just skinned differently.
@@AndrewPL5 based on chromium is true. "Same program with different skin" is bullshit.
Edge all the way! I didn't use it when it first came out because it was pretty clunky and not very good, but once they switched to chromium-based, it improved drastically and is my browser of choice. Windows tends to release clunky things at first and eventually get it right. Like how I'll eventually switch to Windows 11 when the start menu can have recent programs turned off without leaving a huge gap in your start menu with no purpose!
@@apfelschorle1988 okay, so how is it a completely different program? Again, I use both. They look and feel the same, menus are the same, settings are the same, and they preform basically the same, updates are the same.
@russialol seriously? Lol ok I'll wait.
Brave browser 👍
Switched from Edge to Firefox, best decision of my life.
WELCOME BACK
YOU ARE BACK??????
I like using forks of Firefox that are a little less bloated. But that depends on Firefox continuing to compete
I love your videos, but are you sure you haven't forgotten about the Brave Browser?
Currently under 1%
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial oh okay 😳 Thanks 🧡
Doesn't it identify itself as Chrome? (For privacy reasons.)
Does "chrome" include other browsers based on chrome (with the obvious exception of edge)? I'm curious if Opera and IE is really more popular than brave browser
Chromium based forks not included here. Brave is under 1% now.
That was my question. I use Brave and Gener8 which are both chromium based.
Love the dino touch 😚🤌
Whatever happened to Netscape Navigator ? Started off as the leader in the 90's and then quickly fizzled to IE. I remember using it mostly when the internet took off.
Microsoft started to embed its browser into the Windows.
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial explorer sucked. IE got better
I'm currently using Min browser. It's not so popular & doesn't have any extensions BUT it's much more lightweight than Firefox & Firefox-based browsers. Not using Chrome anymore because it eats up a LOT of RAM. Sometimes I used Waterfox as an alternative to Firefox.
Everyone should switch to Brave for data privacy!!!
You are back 🥹
IE in 2002 : I own the world!!
Chrome in 2009 : Hold my beer.
I've been using Opera for 20 years. And this is the first time i realize that.
Maybe I'm an outlier, I'm still Chromium compatible and get to use all the extensions, but very much prefer the privacy of the Brave browser.
I'd love to see a version of this where it takes the alternate chromium browsers into account and not just google chrome. I have a feeling those numbers might be too small to even show up here, but most people I talk to either got Vivaldi, Brave, Firefox or just plain Chromium. It's rare I find people that actively use Google Chrome itself unless they're forced by the company they work for.
Welcome back i'm missed you..and i try make videos like you.. please help me..
I thought for sure Mozilla would've lasted longer than Netscape Navigator because I'd actually heard of Mozilla before, and I was just a wee child for its entire existence.
beautiful
Opera user since 2017!
Always I am used to use Chrome but, when I was a child, I used Firefox.
