Since then, Lance has been on the roster as the third-string quarterback behind our unquestionable starter Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush. So far, Lance hasn’t had the chance to show what he’s capable of on the field. But what if I told you that there’s rumored interest coming from Miami, who’s in need of a quarterback after Tua Tagovailoa’s injury?
That’s right, Tua suffered another concussion, and his future is in question. Because of that, the Dolphins are exploring options to strengthen their QB position. And that’s where some fans-and even parts of the media-are speculating: Could the Miami Dolphins be interested in Trey Lance? But hold on, this idea is far from becoming reality just yet.
Lance, despite having great potential, has yet to prove himself in the NFL, and there are serious doubts about whether he would be the best choice for Miami, which already has Skylar Thompson starting until Tua returns. Thompson, by the way, played well in last year’s playoffs and has earned the confidence of head coach Mike McDaniel. The Dolphins also have Tim Boyle on the roster, although he hasn’t been much of a factor in the league.
Now, what makes this possible trade even more interesting is the fact that McDaniel was on the 49ers' coaching staff when Lance was drafted. Could that connection help Trey get a shot in Miami?
