Dude I was gonna replace it with a $1000 Fractal FM3 but I really dont need too......This thing is serious! I mean it's not like play an arena loud but man Ill tell you with a mic'd PA, this thing could pass for alot of other amps if you didnt see it. The other thing I like is I also play bass and a hollowbody acoustic, which this amp can run! You cant find that in any other amp.
Ive been playing peddles for years and I have been playing the Spark for 6 months. I love the Spark it is just incredible. How can you beat that. Over the years I have spent thousands on peddles, yet all in one for $250 and I can get the same sound and it doesnt take up all the room. But if fairness I love having the peddles for quick changes. I wish the Spark would make a que list, this way I could set up an entire set list and go from one song to the next with a foot switch
I'm still using my old Korg AX-1000G processor. I just added a BOSS GE-7 EQ pedal and a Lekato looper. The Korg does looping but only allows up to an 8 second loop.
Hi Allen, I always look forward to watching your videos. You entertain me and give me some great information. Your honest videos about the spark gave me inspiration to buy one. I've had it since August and I use it everyday. Now I can jam with Tony Iommi, Jimmy Page, Alex Lifeson and David Gilmore. I also enjoyed your "Video Production" videos. Keep up the good work.
Great video Alan. The spark pedals sound pretty dang awesome. As a beginner guitarist, I like how the sound is already dialed in. I do not understand the real pedals yet
I’m on the same page as you bro. The simplicity is what’s all about. I guess if you were in a band do live shows the pedals would be a lot cooler but I’m not so.
It actually sounded fairly close on UA-cam. Modeling has come a long way. I just changed out a very heavy amp and pretty massive pedal board for a Line 6 Pod Go and a powercab 112. Sounds great and much less heavy
@@GearGasms yeah. That’s another advantage. Now my rig is silent. I dont use super high gain but still it’s nice not to deal with it. I created a pedal board with the Pod go and a few of my favorite pedals.
@@GearGasms I’ve seen a few videos comparing the amp modeling, but this was a first for actually effects. I’m sure will see a few videos pop up now doing the same lol.
Excellent, as usual! Great stuff! You know what? You should do a shootout on the new Yamaha THR30II vs the Spark. That would be awesome! I would like to see who wins that one. For me, IMHO, Spark, best portable amp out there. I know some people would beg to differ. Thank you for posting this.
I did one against the THR10. I have to buy everything I use on my channel full retail so I only buy what I’m actually going to use in my regular life. Thanks!
@ 11:35 "Let's jump right up to the Muff." That's always a good idea, Alan. But back to the comment, this is a really great video for me, since the closest things I have to any of the amps and effects in the Spark is a Digitech RP-1000, a Death Metal pedal, and an OCD clone, which actually sounds pretty awesome. The models in the RP-1000 have always sounded very close to what they were designed to emulate, and it's good to know that the Spark does just about as good a job. Now, back to the video, or I'll never get past 11:37! 😂 [EDIT] Sorry, I don’t agree - it’s impossible to have “too much muff.” It is, however, possible to have too much furburger. 😂
I was gonna buy a spark for christmas, that or a yamaha THR30 mk2. I watched so many videos I went dizzy, but in the end I decided I liked the spark's pretty GUI better, and I prefer the styling of the spark - more like a traditional amp. BUT ... I bought the THR30 ! Why ? Well ... for all the bells and whistles of the spark (and they are nice), I just couldn't live with the bottom line sound of the spark. It just sounds muddy, unfocused and like there's a blanket over it - kinda muffled like it's playing from up someone's gary glitter. The THR30 sounds like I expect an amp to sound, in fact it could use a little more bottom end lol. I hated the price, but in the end no matter how many pretty things the spark has and no matter how much cheaper it is, I had to go with that bottom line sound, 'cos if that ain't right then everything else doesn't really matter much. I will probably buy a spark, but not 'till I get offered a cheap one. I think they will flood ebay in a year or so, and I can wait. Cheers dude !
@@GearGasms I almost went for the 10 but I thought what the hell - it's christmas and I'm the only one round here who's likely to get me anything good, so I went for the 30. and a new wireless system on 5.8gig, which works really well. The more I use the THR30, the more I like it :)
I haven’t bought a Spark yet, but I’m close,I was pleasantly surprised , The Spark ⚡️ sounded great toe to toe with pedals,, and I happen to like the 3D pedal interface on this, similar to IRig amplitude and GarageBand I’m a visual person and I like it pretty and simple,,and I do have a soft spot for strippers especially when I hear Metallica , anyway another plus 👍video for this amp , thanks Alan
I like my Spark40 too much! I got amp wax for its tolex.... LOL "That's what I like about delays; it takes your mistake and slaps you in the face with it over and over again"....
I have pedals that, on their own, cost as much as the Spark 40. You get a huge variety of sounds out of this amp. If it lasts, well worth the price. For quick change practice, it is excellent. And no cables and daisy chains to drive you nuts! 👍😎🎸🇳🇿💥 (Thanks for posting.)
I have a THR30ii on the way, but I have a strong feeling I'll end up getting this too at some point. I got the Yamaha because I'm sure it will have at least slightly better sound, and for the wireless convenience. However, at the price point the Spark comes in at, it's almost a no brainer purchase. All of those pedals and effects, and the thing barely costs more than a bluetooth speaker! I have a strong feeling that I'll be getting bored of the Yamaha quick, and will be picking this up to experiment with. I'm digging the extra features that they keep updating too, like the jam along stuff. I know this thing is crippled by the bass heavy speaker with it's silly bass port, but I'm thinking I can overlook that. Does anyone here have a THR amp and the Spark? Can you share your thoughts on them? Thank you so much!
I’m loving my Spark but I got the short end of the stick with the shitty 2 prong power cord. I desperately want a three prong, who do ya gotta blow to get one. Not that that’s happening but seriously I don’t mind paying for it but I’m met with crickets when I ask on the Instagram pages. Anybody have a clue ?
Hi - I swapped out a toshiba laptop replacement power cord and no more hum for me. If If ind the link, i will out it in the chat - about $15-20 on Amazon
@@GearGasms WAIT,,,I was going to bring my Les Paul with the Peter Green mod and munch on your fungi !!... I guess we'll just have to jam sober bro!!! 😆 🤣 😂

This video is a waist of time the spark is made for affordability the pedal board your using easily cost the same as if not more then the amp. The amp was never made for giging and what it does it is doing better then the fender version and the Yamaha version. Its not perfect but its not supposed to be its for modeling

Yes sometimes the old stuff is still good!
I think they are very close. The real peddles had a slightly richer sound. The spark did great.
Yeah it kept up well!

I REALLY hope that Positive Grid comes out with a foot switcher. I have seen some guy has done it on his own which switches between patches.
They'd have to tighten up the delay between switching them though too!
I wish they would add a preamp block with an EQ in a firmware update.....
