MG just keeps holding the 2 on 1 on Jake's right arm and doing the same butterfly sweep to get the back. Its amazing how he imposes his game on someone without needing to change up. LOL ~ Obviously Steven Segal taught MG well.
is anyone else in awe at how marcelo pulled the same sweep consistently through the video, and even the same back set up with the trapped arm and rnc? im sure if it was anyone else, jake wouldve been able to stuff it after getting caught with it, but marcelo just imposed his will
How awesome was that roll at the end? Very, very nice. What a great opportunity. I hope to be in your shoes one day. I loved the city video shots too. Miss my NYC (some times). Thanks Budo Jake. This is the first time I see any Marcelo Garcia video. I'm about to start some serious studies of his technique thanks to this upload.
I was just re-watching the Braulio episode and Braulio credits Marcelo for that straight arm lock as he explains the details to Jake. Marcelo is a amazing! Thanks Budovideos!
This is a great video jake! Its so easy to learn so much from marcelo just talking to him much less getting owned on the mat. Makes me want to go see him again soon.
Seriously, thanks for making these. I've become a fan of so many BJJ guys and people like Erik Paulson because of the personal tales and the showing of their grappling prowess. Thanks so much! New fan of Marcelo Garcia now.
I really dig the moments from 11:45 to 13:40...For some strange reason, it's why I understand his Jiu Jitsu... Thank you Budo Jake for asking the questions... Thank you Marcelo Garcia for answering them :)
I dont know what level Budo Jake is and have not seen him roll this is the 1st episode that I have watched (subscribing btw) but it does not matter MG is just amazing. Absoutely the most well rounded BJJ player out there right now. It will be a sad day when he decides it time to start having kids and quites competing. I would love to live close to NYC just to go train w/him every once in a while would be an honor. His students are privilged.
Notice at the subway station when the host is wearing a jiu jitsu jacket and Marcelo didn't? Marcelo is the best yet he is the most humble grappler alive dosen't like to show off... He is the true badass in disguise!
for all you that even notice the "you know what I mean?" its sad because your missing all the knowledge this man is layin' down. I was so hooked on the interview I barely noticed until I read the comments. Maybe one of the best rolled up episodes so far!!!
I love the roll at the end. when Marcelo pulls his head back, lol the look of defeat in the victims face, thats the most satisfying part of the role, I feel like i would have toyed with him at that moment to get more joy, like pretending and allowing to drop his head a few times, or just leaving it open to hear moans and grunts, lol, love this video. Please revisit Marcelo and make more videos, (ive seen this years back but watching it again in 2022 now)
funny, how they finish talking about the grip. during the roll I was trying to break his technique down and all I came up with that was out of the ordinary was The Grip and how he must go for it 100% and then take what he gets from it (obviously with vicious execution and skill)
i always try to sweep from butterfly and the opponent some how manages to put his foot down !!! with locking the arm Marcelo style this would definitely help :)

Marcelo is a clinical genius, fascinating to watch and is a big reason why i took up jiu jitsu. Thank you my man.
His elbow escape is so slick. Marcelo you are the man. Humble best smile and worlds nice jujitsu guy.
MG just keeps holding the 2 on 1 on Jake's right arm and doing the same butterfly sweep to get the back. Its amazing how he imposes his game on someone without needing to change up. LOL ~ Obviously Steven Segal taught MG well.
THAT WAS A MASSACRE!
lol yes it was
I read the word MASSAGE!
19:55 it's so beautiful to see how he uses the bait of removing a hook to trap the arm
is anyone else in awe at how marcelo pulled the same sweep consistently through the video, and even the same back set up with the trapped arm and rnc? im sure if it was anyone else, jake wouldve been able to stuff it after getting caught with it, but marcelo just imposed his will
yes marcelo, we know what you mean :D
This episode (Part 1 & 2) was like a seminar! Thanks so much for this!
This is gold 😍😍
My favorite part is seeing how much fun Jake is having while Marcelo runs a clinic on him. I'd have a perma grin too, when I wasn't getting choked.
Marcelo Garcia is OBVIOUSLY a wizard.
Absolute BAD ASS and supremely humble in his teaching.
How awesome was that roll at the end? Very, very nice. What a great opportunity. I hope to be in your shoes one day. I loved the city video shots too. Miss my NYC (some times). Thanks Budo Jake. This is the first time I see any Marcelo Garcia video. I'm about to start some serious studies of his technique thanks to this upload.
i was just thinking the same thing !
His control with just butterfly and the small detail with catching arm once you try to post is amazing.
That was awesome, the roll was amazing to watch!
his butterfly sweeps look effortless
I was just re-watching the Braulio episode and Braulio credits Marcelo for that straight arm lock as he explains the details to Jake.
Marcelo is a amazing! Thanks Budovideos!
You can't feign this level of humbleness. This man is the real deal.
This is a great video jake! Its so easy to learn so much from marcelo just talking to him much less getting owned on the mat. Makes me want to go see him again soon.

I enjoyed this small peek into Marcelo's Jiu-Jitsu world.
Seriously, thanks for making these. I've become a fan of so many BJJ guys and people like Erik Paulson because of the personal tales and the showing of their grappling prowess.

After every demonstation he seems really pleased he could show you . Class.

Best one yet I think!

I enjoyed that vid very much, Garcia is phenomenal.
I really dig the moments from 11:45 to 13:40...For some strange reason, it's why I understand his Jiu Jitsu... Thank you Budo Jake for asking the questions... Thank you Marcelo Garcia for answering them :)
Marcelo is a BEAST
fastest hour of my life. thanks jake and marcelo
Marcelo is the man no doubt. The guy just takes you apart and grins at you the entire time.
I was so happy to see part 2 was uploaded after part 1 ended!
Marcelo's sweeps are absolutely unbelievable...
I've watched that 2 on 1 arm control back take.... at least 20x. Great video!
wow! that arm drag to back from butterfly was sweet!!!
His sweep to back takes look so effortless. Literally makes everyone who rolls with him look like a white belt.
Marcelo is my favourite.
Marcelo is sssssuuuuucccchhh a beast with that 2-on-1 control.
The amount of pressure Marcelo is capable of putting on a person is nuts.
That last roll was beautiful. I would smile just as much when I'd get demolished too.
Marcelo is just amazing =) Tanks for the video
Marcelo makes a lot of people look like a white belt
Fantastic thanks
Blown away. He's a master
Very inspiring. Keep up the good work

Marcelo Garcia fera dos feras, Jiu Jitsu afiado, com um jogo muito difícil de se superar, show de bola.

Wonderful video. Thanks for doing these episodes!! very interesting interviews :)

I know what you mean, Marcelo! Truly inspirational.
2 of his students trained at my school...guys were awesome
for all you that even notice the "you know what I mean?" its sad because your missing all the knowledge this man is layin' down. I was so hooked on the interview I barely noticed until I read the comments. Maybe one of the best rolled up episodes so far!!!

ferrrrrrrkkkk marcelo's a beasssssst
I love the roll at the end. when Marcelo pulls his head back, lol the look of defeat in the victims face, thats the most satisfying part of the role, I feel like i would have toyed with him at that moment to get more joy, like pretending and allowing to drop his head a few times, or just leaving it open to hear moans and grunts, lol, love this video. Out of ALL the rolled episodes. I don't think I've seen Jake get tapped out that many times in one round.
Old martial arts saying: "There are no advanced moves, its only the basics mastered". He is the living truth in that saying
absolute monster
one of my favorite episodes. the other three include gokor chivichyans, erik paulsons, & draculino
You know whatamean
You should do one with Shaolin or Renzo too. I would love to see that.
Ever notice Marcelo says "you know what I mean" at the end of every sentence? Great video regardless!
To just be as awesome as Marcelo, for just one day. What a day it would be... I would roll for 24 straight hours.
Not only is he a great Jiu Jitsu player , he's a very good person.
funny, how they finish talking about the grip. during the roll I was trying to break his technique down and all I came up with that was out of the ordinary was The Grip and how he must go for it 100% and then take what he gets from it (obviously with vicious execution and skill)
that defense soap add
marcelo garcia is very nice dude
Thanks, Marcelino.
insane level between black belts
i always try to sweep from butterfly and the opponent some how manages to put his foot down !!! with locking the arm Marcelo style this would definitely help :)
I would realy love to see an episode of rener and ryron gracie at the gracie academy in california.
this rocks.
I love you, Marcelo!!! "Yunowhaimea...n???"
You sure love your shoyoroll gears
Budo Jake: Proof that fancy gear doesn't make you a better grappler.
DEM BACK TAKES THOUGH.
this guy is a damn ninja
What a sweetheart
MG o melhor....
haha.....Thats funny! I Agree!
what is that submission marcelo garcia demonstrates to jake?
