As someone who'd assisted with some aspects of Anomaly many years ago, Old World Addon does actually look really cool, and I'm keen to try it out. For me, my favourite aspects of Anomaly are the in-game encyclopedia (a LOT of Western mods lacked this at the time), the stability, the general polish, and so on. It was kinda gritty, but not so gritty compared to hardcore mods in general. Highly customizable for all sorts of experiences. That said, what I'm really looking for at the moment is that freeplay sandbox environment, while having more stuff than Call of Chernobyl, while still feeling close to SoC and similar games from the OG series. Thank you for covering this modpack despite base Anomaly not being your cup of tea --- your review was most helpful. I actually haven't played Forgotten Zone yet, but tried Custom and Redux, and I'm gonna be honest, Old World has got me burned out recently, while I did try OWA Custom and Redux, they felt pretty much identical, both having their differences of course. And while this is by no means criticizing the mod or its premise, but there just isn't much to OWA after a while, after a week of me geeking this mod, getting the legendary status, topping the leaderboard, getting millions of Rubles, I eventually got burned out, so If I were to replay OWA, I'd try Forgotten Zone first. I await OWA's update with great anticipation.
People hype up Anomaly and GAMMA but I feel the same that they're not really STALKER. Yeah they're highly customizable but why go through tweaking a bunch of settings when I can just play the modpacks that actually play like STALKER without the need for extra tweaks.
When I play Gamma, I’m not looking to play Stalker, I’m looking to play Gamma. I like the setting and feel of Stalker a lot but the gameplay of Gamma appeals to me more. I get both in Gamma
I agree 100% on your thoughts about vanilla Anomaly, it's so SO bad I ended up downloading more than 10 fixes and quality of life updates to make it less annoying. Look, I wanted to like it, but I just couldn't, having to grind a lot just to buy a new weapon or repair a heavily damaged one is not my cup of tea. Then I learned about Old World and loved it, I loved the OG games, especially Call of Prypiat, so this was incredible, can't wait for the new update.
Thanks for showing this mod, I didn't know about it. I can't enjoy very much Anomaly or Gamma due to my low PC specs, so I'd rather enjoy these kinds of experiences 👽✨
Good video! I’ve played and finished the original trilogy so many times that I can’t get much enjoyment out of it anymore, but that’s not the case with Anomaly. I’ve always liked the idea of sandbox games (akin to kenshi, zomboid or rimworld fr example) because they offer so many options for roleplaying and setting your own objectives and challenges. You can create your own story and keep building on it, giving you an insane replay value that can be expanded even more with mods. That’s why i prefer playing Anomaly over STALKER in my opinion. Hope you can keep doing videos man, is really cool!
9:41 honestly i really share your opinion on anomaly. I've came back many tines to soc or even clear sky. Yet I've never appreciated anomaly. Since it honestly feels like overglorified mimicry of stalker. It destroys in my opinion the principles of stalker (fair combat, immersion while remaining grounded in the game world, story) and just mashes it into something.. Generic. I'll try old world and give it a chance. I have high hopes honestly. And I've never liked the anomaly modpacks also. They felt.. Without color honestly, something that you'd find on steam as an early access. Play for an hour. And never turn it on again. What I'm trying to say is that stalker is an experience. You play it and you get instantly sucked into the world, it doesn't need over-the-top graphics. Mechanics. Fancy animations. All it needs is to hook you in, and nothing more.
Primitive gameplay at its finest with Old World Addon. I suppose it varies from people to people, but in my experiences with Anomaly or Gamma, I can stomach for few game sessions before I call it quits. OWA just keeps me going on it. You would think that faster pacing, faster gameplay, and simplified mechanics would bore you faster, but I end up covering more than what I would have with former two. And hot take; I'll take OWA's simple graphics over the realistic approach other mods go for. Visual clarity is of a big importance to me as a gamer. I feel like lighting is what contributes a lot here as well, heck, good lighting can make or break how game looks to the eye.
The Forgotten Zone modpack you linked in the description seems really interesting. Would you reccomend giving it a go? I love Call of the Zone (with the community addon), it's my favorite freeplay mod and Forgotten Zone looks like it might be up my alley.

I have one defense for Anomaly vanilla. The economy (As far as I know) was so expensive in general mostly because the game is meant to be played for weeks, if not months to finish the storyline. I do understand that part, as it would be kinda weird to play for one single day a game meant for weeks of gameplay and just have the exoskeleton and most of the strongest weapons, so it works fine by me. PD: F off GAMMA.
I've been playing Old World Custom which is a small-ish pack centered around Old World Addon. It's actually my first time playing Anomaly so I didn't want to jump into all that the other packs are
I love this mod. Only one thing is a bit frustrating, i have a permanent microstuttering, like every 500ms. I have locked my fps at 120, and the lower i set the limit, the better it gets. At a cap of 60fps the Microstutter disappears. I can see that on the frametime graph, the line gets perfectly flat and consistent. The strange thing is also, i play Old World redux too, and there is no microstutter, not at all. Standart Anomaly 1.52+1.53 also run perfect. I searched the internet for a solution, some say it could be a problem with the a-life simulation. Nothing works. And choose a 60fps cap on a 240Hz Display are not really fluid :/
Old World has its fair share of issues with me as well, when playing Beerman's addon, my frame rate goes to absolute shit when firing guns. OWA redux runs poorly despite my rig running EFP (almost) fine.
a little off topic but im gonna miss the way stalker was before STALKER 2 i have a feeling alot of modders and the community in general is gonna move to the new game, ik i can always come back to the og games and old mods but I feel like a little bit of that old stalker feel will be gone for me although im loving stalker 2 itself.
I think they did a good job retaining the OG feel in stalker 2. It's not exactly the same of course but for me it's close enough. I'm gonna stick to watching old stalker videos but playing the new one lol.
Meh i think it will be a long time until stalker 2 truly replaces the mods. Stalker 2 AI is god awful and a-life 2.0 simply doesn't exist with them literally spawning 30 meters behind you. While it has potential the game should have been in development for at least another year and as a 14 year stalker fan it's pretty disappointing so far in my 30+ hour playthrough.
my biggest issue with old world is it's decision to strip out ammo crafting while keeping some of anomaly's clunkier features like having to pay for workbenches You should try CoC with the ported DoctorX quests & mechanics - I think someone has guides for it with Improved weapon pack
Do you mean IWP instead because I haven't checked for COC, but there is a Call of The Zone (COTZ) port for IWP (and I'm pretty sure most of those mods were originally made for COC)
@@In_The_Base specifically "Call of the Zone Quests and Mechanics for IWP (Indev 6.2)" There's the standalone CoZ, but this addon for IWP tries to add a lot of the cool features of CoZ to IWP - a lil suggestion after hearing the want for more questing for default CoC/IWP
I couldn't agree with you more on the anomaly portiton, even after puting hundreds of mods on top of it the end experience winds up being thin, the only time I actually started enjoying anomaly was with anthology, yet as it continues to be a buggy mess I dont have high hopes for my future with it
I wish there was a mod that made anomaly look like soc but kept the new mechanics and balancing. I love how anomaly feels as an imsim, but it visually looks so grey and lacks the surrealism soc had
old world looks like its the mod i've been looking for but there is a slight problem, stalker anomaly is on version 1.5.3 and old world is on 1.5.2, would it still work or do we just wait for an update?
Me an intellectual, with an install of gamma, efp, old world, dark signal, and several installs of shoc and cop with translated russian mods... God help me I have a several SSD's dedicated to playing stalker and only stalker.
First of al li watched the whole video in 1.25 speed without subs.😎 Second of all, we have indeed gone full circle as the original stalker before it came out was playtested and people thought it was too borring as you walked around and explored and grind and did nothing of interest, it was a survival game and this is exactly what stalker 2 and anomaly are like. We need to go back at how stalker was like half life 2 with more complex mechanics and exploration and quests, we need to start popularizing stalker story mods, better than anomaly if you ask me.
Radiophobia 3 does this pretty good without forcing in any artificial difficulty, It's a standalone overhaul mod for SOC that makes it look amazing without being system demanding, does a little work on the ai and gunplay, and adds some new systems and quests
I have a question. Is there a reason why you don't play the new game? Don't get me wrong, I will definitely try this mod, it's exactly what I like. I just can't stop searching for artifacts in HOC... For now.
@LoneWolfFromEast Aside from the suboptimal rig I have, my disk is full of stuff and I don't have space for it,even after removing as many files as I can, I still need 60 more gigs.

@@CptVityaz Even as a person who can run it, I'm searching for some Stalker experience to fill my time until S2 is fixed, because right now, unfortunately, the experience is underwhelming.
I personally enjoy hard but rewarding games (Like dark souls) so I thought of giving GAMMA and Anomaly a try. After giving them both a try for a while I slowly realized that I couldn’t be less interested in the experience those 2 mods could offer me that I dropped them both in the end. I would make like 2 pages of how I disliked stuff in both but it all breaks down to making everything from the original games be completely overcomplicated, unrewarding and unsatisfactory, while also making it extremely time consuming, or “””””””REALISTIC”””””” as the description of this mods says, so basically: You want to have a radioactive artifact? You need a container that also degrades. You got wounded by a bite or a bullet? You can’t see jack shit now because of the “Pain” and blood effects and you got to go into a huge process in order to heal and all of that probably in mid battle where the very advanced NPCs of stalker will rush your ass and make you die of lead poisoning from the number of bullets they’re gonna give you to eat. You went into a fight? NPCs aside from bandits are bullets sponges that can take your 12 gauge bullets, eat them and then spit them out like The Terminator in the 3rd movie. You want to loot a dead NPC? Enjoy the broken weapons then :D! Very realistic all of them can use broken weapons like nothing while for me using a broken weapon means seeing the jamming animation all the time and turning an assault rifle into a slide action!!! very realistic!!!! You want to get better gear? Good luck because you may take like 2 to 3 hours to finish the mission you were assigned only to get paid like 8k roubles and a decent weapon costs like 26 thousand roubles, you gotta waste like 15 thousand more in medication, another 10 into food and other gear and good luck trying to repair someone else’s gun because you will need a whole set of things to do it. And a long Et cetera. None of that feels like something fun or realistic, also that don’t feel like stalker (except for the broken weapons and the bullet sponge part), it feels like an overcomplicated masochistic version of what stalker really is and don’t get me wrong, if somebody likes that it’s ok but I really can’t find any point if dealing with all that bullshit while also not having an actual main objective than to do all of that all the time. Personally for me your recommendation felt like a gold bar coming right from the sky, so I will give it a try when I get some free time, thanks!!!
I understand your opinion on Anomaly/Gamma (and I respect it), but just so you know: Gamma, for exemple, is highly customizable. In the settings you can easily boost the rewards for quests, the weapons condition when looted, reduce the ennemies HP, etc... You can even disable Anomaly's economy! Yes, those modpacks are "by default" super grindy and a pain in the a** when it comes to progression, but it all can be easily tweaked. Should you give it a second chance, you might find a certain appeal to it!

my biggest issue with old world is it's decision to strip out ammo crafting while keeping some of anomaly's clunkier features like having to pay for workbenches
You should try CoC with the ported DoctorX quests & mechanics - I think someone has guides for it with Improved weapon pack
Do you mean IWP instead because I haven't checked for COC, but there is a Call of The Zone (COTZ) port for IWP (and I'm pretty sure most of those mods were originally made for COC)
@@In_The_Base specifically "Call of the Zone Quests and Mechanics for IWP (Indev 6.2)"
There's the standalone CoZ, but this addon for IWP tries to add a lot of the cool features of CoZ to IWP - a lil suggestion after hearing the want for more questing for default CoC/IWP
Yeah i agree GAMMA is PEAK stalker
Fuck no. Shadow Of Chernobyl still is, and always will be. Double so with AMK 1.4.1
I couldn't agree with you more on the anomaly portiton, even after puting hundreds of mods on top of it the end experience winds up being thin, the only time I actually started enjoying anomaly was with anthology, yet as it continues to be a buggy mess I dont have high hopes for my future with it
Are you running all those modpacks in the description at the same time?
Nope, I'm playing vanilla Old World, I provided the links of those modpacks for those who wanna try them out.
this fire!
Thank you so much pardner!
@@CptVityaz Keep making more S.T.A.L.K.E.R Content!
@Raine096 Old World is in fact compatible with Anomaly 1.5.3
Me an intellectual, with an install of gamma, efp, old world, dark signal, and several installs of shoc and cop with translated russian mods... God help me I have a several SSD's dedicated to playing stalker and only stalker.
@TalsetFireSeed So relatable I swear
How dare you not like GAMMA grrr
tushkano horde be upon ye!
First of al li watched the whole video in 1.25 speed without subs.😎
Second of all, we have indeed gone full circle as the original stalker before it came out was playtested and people thought it was too borring as you walked around and explored and grind and did nothing of interest, it was a survival game and this is exactly what stalker 2 and anomaly are like. We need to go back at how stalker was like half life 2 with more complex mechanics and exploration and quests, we need to start popularizing stalker story mods, better than anomaly if you ask me.
any mods like efp but without the hardcore tedium , just want good graphics/animation and gunplay (like gunslinger)
Try improved weapon pack for call of chernoby
@@Mleuf1024 i have that one just havent installed thx
Radiophobia 3 does this pretty good without forcing in any artificial difficulty, It's a standalone overhaul mod for SOC that makes it look amazing without being system demanding, does a little work on the ai and gunplay, and adds some new systems and quests
@@gumbywithagun4293 i wanna try it but the reviews kinda scare me(update while radiophobia is hard the gunplay alone more than makes up for it)
@@gumbywithagun4293ua-cam.com/video/w5WOaTBj6y8/v-deo.html
Thanks I was wondering about this and also asked myself why not just play COC?
coc with iwp is awesome
@cykablyat3680 yes, seem like good reason to revisit.
What Anomaly has over COC is modern engine and better modularity, plus COC is pretty empty compared to Anomaly.
@@CptVityaz Oh, understandable, I literally bought 500GB SSD just for this game. Latest patch was plus 13 GB, it's crazy.
what HUD are you using? just installed old world redux
@@fubliciousbobs9011 I'm using the vanilla HUD that comes with regular OWA
Hey Vityaz, my recomendation for you to play prosectors project 1.7. It is really awesome mod, AI in this project very very smart like real guys. It is not a joke.
I will definitely be taking a look at it, thank you!
Free play mods aren’t stalker for me. Mods like Radiophobia , Complete, OGSR, those are stalker
Complete is just mid, OGSR is ok, and radiophobia is just misery with SoC storyline
Is the gameplay shown one of the modpacks for old world? if so which one?
it's of vanilla Old World (albeit using some addons)
Thank you, I take it you have an addon for the weapon animations and sway for steps, do you by any chance have a list of the addons you use here somewhere? If not thats alright, no need to go outta your way @CptVityaz
works with anomaly 1.5.3?
Nope, at least not yet.
What mod are you using for weapon animations those arent vanilla?
@@axe495 I'm using Old World Gunslinger
прикольно
why is desert eagle so op in this mod, it deals more dmg than svd :(
True, you can literally kill a Chimera with less than a mag of .45 Hydrashok
Chernobylite was cool
Can i just play shadow of chernobyl with owa?
What?
@@CptVityaz its an anomaly or gamma mod right? is there a version for soc
@@gmodiscool14 No, there isn't
just play SoC bro lol

Will run on 1.5.3?
Current version of OWA is for 1.5.2 only, but OWA Custom is for 1.5.3
@@CptVityazGot it thanks:)
stalker2 review plz
That's really a tough one, because as much as I wanted to talk about Stalker 2, I just can't run it on my machine, I'm sorry.
@@CptVityaz oof looks like im gonna have to wait

are you retard?
I personally enjoy hard but rewarding games (Like dark souls) so I thought of giving GAMMA and Anomaly a try. After giving them both a try for a while I slowly realized that I couldn’t be less interested in the experience those 2 mods could offer me that I dropped them both in the end.
I would make like 2 pages of how I disliked stuff in both but it all breaks down to making everything from the original games be completely overcomplicated, unrewarding and unsatisfactory, while also making it extremely time consuming, or “””””””REALISTIC”””””” as the description of this mods says, so basically:
You want to have a radioactive artifact?
