    TESTIMONIALS
    ‘Started hitting the moves laid out in these courses the very next class...extremely uplifting to have such a quick improvement in my game’ - Houston, TX
    ‘I’m the only white belt in the academy doing these moves…I’m suddenly competing at a blue belt and above level…thanks Coach Tom’ - LA, California
    ‘Some of the best strategies you are going to see for control and submission’ - London, UK
    ‘The detailed way Prof Tom breaks down his moves into the absolute essentials is just next level for me. This is absolute gold‘ - Sydney, Australia
    ‘Most of the guys at my Academy, have about 60lbs on me, but since purchasing your ‘Kimura Attack system’ and ’14 days’ everything has changed. I feel much more confident, roll better and the guys on the mat have commented on the same. Thanks, Coach Tom’ - Dallas, TX
    ‘I know you have your names for your courses, but I’ve renamed them the ‘Zero to hero’ courses, I went from getting constantly owned, to now being completely dominant on the mat in no time at all’ - San Diego, California
    ‘I use the course material heaps, and just recently put it into action at a local comp, walked away with double gold. No one was more surprised than me! - Miami, Florida
    ‘As a new white belt, these classes have helped me so much, Prof Tom’s technique, the details, and his attitude. I love how Prof. Tom shows the ‘mistakes people make’ and then shows the correct way of doing things. The only one I have ever seen do this’ - New York, New York
    Great videos, great instruction. I just watch them for hours…Melbourne, Australia
    ‘The instructional saved me big time at a recent comp, my opponent was def more experienced, but that was ok, coz I had Prof Tom’s video in my brain. Nailed it and scored gold’ - Colorado, Denver
    ‘All of it. Everything you show in your awesome videos are now my ‘go to techniques’. Thanks for your vids Prof, Tom’ - Houston, TX
    ‘You really have to watch every second of the video because Prof, Tom drops these little nuggets of gold throughout the course. And they make ALL the difference. The only one doing this. Keep them coming Professor’ - NY, New York
    ‘If I could only be taught from one person, Prof Tom would be it. I can’t wait to train in person one day’ - Dallas, TX
    ‘Went to a recent competition with these videos fresh in my mind. I knew I had an edge and the confidence this gave me was unreal. Got the gold. All submission wins! - LA, California

    if you’re like me and come from a strong wrestling background and love spamming overhooks when you feel like you’re in any type of trouble, this is a great way to start developing a system when on bottom. thank you!

    Somehow, from all the people giving tuts on the internet, your techniques always work really well for me!! Like a shit load of them. I guess because we have similar body types and I'm not very mobile and therefore not into scrambling and inverting too much. Simple, tight and effective moves straight out of the basics. Love em.

    Thank you so much!!! I always lost my overhooks, I thought it was because of the sweat. Now I know that my hip placement was poor. Thanks coach!

    It is nice to see that what I am doing in my self defense training when I am in the guard on the bottom is pretty much that (plus getting up). Excellent use of the guard also when strikes are involved. Thanks for teaching

    This is so good I had to rewatch it about five times. Got the overhook from closed guard easily during a roll the other day but failed on all other details and ended up stuck there for about five minutes lol. Can’t wait to try again...

      I like to distract by pretending to attack/compromise the opposite wrist, and when they try to move it away from their body, clap

    I'm a bit surprised there is no (ude hishigi) hiza gatame. I've never done it in no-gi, so maybe that's the explanation, but with the way you put your knee you're already almost in position.

    Coach Tom, To be honest I have been trying to get into this position from closed guard but am having trouble and gave it up. I'd like to go back to this, any more suggestions on how to get the overhook from closed guard?

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  6 років тому +1

      Break their posture and move your hips out to the side. Otherwise, use it opportunistically when finding yourself with a guard overhook control. Happy rolling (-: Coach Tom Davey

  • @guam58
    @guam58 5 років тому +3

    You mentioned it's not a whizzer and your not trying to get your partner or opponent down. But, can you use it to bring opponent down to break posture, shrimp out a little more, throw right leg over back to hold posture and reverse arm bar or oma plata? What would be negative outcome?

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  5 років тому +1

      There are many attack options too numerous to list here but experiment and find out what feels right to you and works on the mats! (-: Tom Davey

    Hey coach, curious if you feel the same way about these techniques 6 years later? Have you found much of this obsolete with the advancements of your own game along with Jiu jitsu as an entity? I really like to hear what coaches feel about their techniques years later. Thanks!

    Can you show us the Frank Mir submission he did from the guard? Kind of like a Gable grip twisting into an americana.

    Hi Tom, great video. Ive been trying to attack overhooks from guard, and ive found some moderate success catching the omoplata. One problem im coming across that Im struggling to troubleshoot is that im frequently catching the overhook from a flat position instead of off to the side. Do you have any tips for creating angle if you're dealing with an opponent who likes to pressure and stall in closed guard when you're flat on your back?

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  5 років тому +1

      Just keep repping and set your body position up first and then attack the omoplata. Happy omoplatas (-: Tom Davey
