I agree.....This overly casual , even sloppy interviewing technique seems to be the Par for the course now-days. Another trend I have noticed is that no longer does an individual even have to be literate ,or speak well to get into media work. All you need is an annoying overabundance of personality, and be handsome or pretty.

Short, sweet, simple idea, mind-boggling. none of this... deal three piles choose one pile give me the remainder cards choose another... mathematical Voodoo. Shin is top notch

I got this figured out. The reason why he had to ask her to push it back in is because when she did it at first her hand was covering the top of the card so Shin couldn't see. The deck is special kind where there are subtle differences on the card cover face which tell you which card is which. He got a good look at it when she push it in back in the deck.
Yeah but how does that explain how he cuts the deck perfectly at the end to get it on top, maybe he would just keep splitting the deck until he finds the one he’s looking for? Hmm ..

ok so a friend of mine used to guess all the cards i used to pick out. told me after that the back of the card has a pattern, which you can tell which card it is. at 2:25, she puts the card in and shin had no idea because she was quick...so he pops it back out again so he can study the pattern. happens quick but you will notice it.
I do not know how he did the trick, but if I was to guess, I'd say all of the cards were marked on the back so that it is easy to know any card at a glance.

Cassidy did say late last year in 2020 that she was leaving to pursue her Internet endeavors, not to mention the effects of the pandemic, which is why I haven't even seen her on TV news either. But glad that this meeting was able to happen right before the sh*t hit the fan a month later.

When the deck is given back, he simply puts the card he already had in his hand (4 of hearts), to the top. While she's shuffling, he can also take a peek to see what card it is which is how he knew even without revealing. I use this trick often, but it only works if the insertion of the card back to the deck isn't perfect.
@@flyingchimp12 in the context of this type of interview, the interviewer is supposed to stare back at the camera repeatedly. This back and forth keeps the home viewers (or live audience) engaged. You see it on virtually every interview for late night shows (Colbert, Fallon) and morning shows (Good Morning America, CBS This Morning).

btw if you want to know how he did it, here you go. He uses a trick deck called the "svengali deck". This deck has all the cards shaved on one of the sides so if you look at 2:20 he turns the deck 180 degrees. This makes her selected card have the shaved side opposite to every other card in the deck. When this happens, he can cut to her card instantly.
I hate to reveal the secret,, but I'm pretty sure the deck is marked. So when she put the card back into the deck, Shin Lim rechecked & read the card while asking to push it all the way in. And then,, as for the shuffling part and the cut.... putting the picked card back on the top of the deck,,, IDK... lol
