- Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year everyone!
Waking up at our first camp site in the Wakhan we were greeted by some shepherds who had stopped to have a campfire breakfast. Whilst their heard grazed they invited us over to join them to a simple and yummy meal of vegetables, bread and tea. One of the men could speak English quite well which was great being able to have a chat about their lives. We gifted some eggs, and fruit (something they were very happy to see - smelling it like a they hadn't had any in years). Life seemed to be replicated on the Afghan side with the shepherds droving camels, yaks, sheep, cows and goats. All very friendly often yelling out ‘Hello’ from their side while stopping down at the river for a freshen up.
After breakfast as the shepherds got on their way up the valley, we did a little housekeeping before packing up too and continuing on our way down. Passing many more shepherds with their herds, we enjoyed the incredible scenery surrounding us as we followed the Panj River down the valley. We’d planned to drive to a fort, one of many which can be found in the Wakhan, though upon arrival discovered it to be off in the distance and in quite a state of ruin. Never mind though, we’ll try again at the next one. When we got out of the car to try and find the fort 3 kids from a nearby house came to say ‘Hi’. This was the beginning of the friendly greetings we would encounter from the locals, and also the funny pronunciation of Mark’s name, Muk :P
Hitting the road again we continued on, stopping at the prettiest village to get some food, before founding our next camp spot nestled just off the road in some dunes. This was one of those pinch me days; the beauty of our location, as well as the friendly locals, all seemed so surreal.
Thanks for joining us, we hope you’re enjoying the episodes!

And this is exactly why I watch UA-cam .... You get the real perspective. Not the doom and gloom or western media
Outstanding place my country Tajikistan 🇹🇯 ❤ you guys always welcome
I would like to visit this place in my life from Pakistan 🇵🇰
Just discovered your channel and have been watching all of the episodes in sequence. I knew so little about Central Asia and now it's on my bucket list. Besides the gorgeous scenery, I really enjoy seeing the beautiful spirits of the people that you encounter.
The reason at 7:10 the girl said Mark and looked into the sky is because Mak in Wakhi language is called moon
Well there you go! We had a suspicion it translated to something else though couldn't find it, so thanks! Not sure how I feel now about being a big round white object haha
Beautiful shots of my home country, thank you guys. Genuinely left me happy, smiling and wishing to be back ASAP!
Much love to Tajikistan from brother Pakistan.
The little girls were smitten with mark lol
Such a beautiful, unspoiled and unpolluted land. Thanks for your efforts in showing it to us.🙏
Happy New Year to you both from Nova Scotia! This made our hearts feel good. Thank you. Stay safe, Barb & Sandy
Thanks Barb and Sandy, and a Happy New Year to you too! Glad you enjoyed the episode.
Really love to see how you exchanged food with the shepherds. Simple, yet meaningful gifts to each other.
Thanks guys, those shepherds smelt the fruit we gifted like they hadn't had any in years. Was a great experience!
Beautiful! Gorgeous water. What color! But whoa... some of those roads, with drop offs... would really freak me out. 😳
Yep, we love these roads, sure makes for a fun drive. The incredible scenery just tops it off!
Hey Jolie and Mark. Greetings from Oz. Amazing scenery and friendly locals. You are very lucky. Enjoy.

Tajikistan was one of our favourite countries we’ve ever visited! 🇹🇯👌🏼
Beautiful landscapes.Thank you.
Beautiful place and beautiful people. Wow
What a friendly bunch of people. Sorta looks funny, the barren desert landscape (which you'd think is hot) and higher up is the snowcaps. A real good vibe vid.
Thanks Colin, there is definitely a massive contrast in the landscape and colours all jam packed in one little region. It's incredible to drive through, continually changing around every corner.
Have a good one guys... the people are very welcoming.. love it👍
Whole central Asia, Turkic, Semi Turkic, Pashtun, Tajik, Hazara, Baloch, Panjabi's etc all are competing each other in being friendly :) A Big Salam to Wakhan & to you too guys... The Heaven & its Happy Residents.❤️

Thanks Mehdi!
Enjoy ur trip love from pakistan
Thanks!
👍👍✌✌🙏🙏
Happy New Year
Glad to watch your new video, like always.
Do you recommend a bigger truck, instead of troopy??..for the same route from Pakistan to Central Asia??.. I’m just double minded between comfort and capabilities. Troopy reaches almost every where while bigger RV doesn’t but have a little home like comfort like shower and sitting room!? Pls advise as you went through all the ups n downs!!
Happy NY!
We haven't travelled in a bigger truck so can't confidently speak for their pros/cons. We could imagine the internal size could be great though for us the size of the Troopy is perfect and allowed us, as you said, to go everywhere we wanted. There's definitely been tracks and roads which would of been impassable in anything bigger than the Troopy. While not as spacious as bigger RVs we still have space in the back of the Troopy to sit at a table, cook at a bench, and wash up at a sink. So I guess it all comes down to personal preference - How much time are you going to be spending inside the rig? Are you buying it for comfort or accessibility?
isn't it winter over there?
Is now though this was filmed in spring.
🇵🇰☕️👍♥️
