To everyone saying don't drive the truck, sitting is the worst thing you can do to it period. Add a little marvel mystery oil to Gpa's truck sometimes that'll make ticks go away.

FYI what you think is the turbine housing is the compressor housing, the exhaust housing IS the turbine housing.

Good thing short tube headers do wonders for the sound/tone/ throttle response on those motors. Should fix the tick right up.

Sounds like the manifold is leaking pretty common , also another cause could be if you changed the oil and filter and didn't use a mopar filter that will also cause the engine to be noisy

Honestly just sounds like you need to give er some more throttle. I could be wrong. The sound from grandpa truck sounds like a valve tap but could be just an exhaust gasket or something.

I looked at the numbers on the turbo, and it's either off a Cat 3126, or a Cat C7. The cat C7 is the more "evolved" version of the two. It is highly possible that both used the same turbo.

That noise in your grandpa’s truck could the famous “hemi tick” it is very important to change the oil at the right intervals because all of the little holes and areas the has go to. Does it just do it when it is the first cold start of the day and go away when it is warmed up? I have a new hemi and mine ticks for a few seconds on a cold start but mine has less than 20, 000 miles. Do not like that ticking noise. Hope it just an exhaust leak or loose bolts for you. Great video! Great content and keep it up! Stay safe and healthy for you and your family!
