It isn't Likely - ha. I used to go moose hunting with my grandfather in the 90s around the Horsefly area. That was a nice fall day for a ride. I will be in McLeese Lake for a few days 1-3 April.
You are the first to get the inside, regional joke. I knew very few people would get it, but I couldn't help myself. I know you are busy on 1st and 2nd, maybe we could get a chance to meet on the 3rd. I am not to far from McCleese.
"... It's not Likely." Heh, I see what you did there FYI, Horsefly is home base for accomplished Folk/ Roots duo Pharis and Jason Romero. Juno winners and builders of world famous Romero banjos. Now you know. 🙂
A few people going to Likely have made that one wrong turn and ended up saying "this isn't Likely". I didn't expect many people to pick up on that turn of phrase, but I am glad a couple have. That is cool about the Romeros!
Ah yes!! The best in the business, love this ride video! I can really feel that ride, sound of the bike getting thru the gears, the road, watching this…..that landscape to ride thru just seems to energizes a guy! Simply the best open road riding content out there, brother. I appreciate you and the quality of the content you treat us to.
Hello Igor. Thanks so much for the great comment, I am really happy that you are enjoying my videos. I have a few more new videos coming out and of course I have lots of older ones to enjoy. Looking forward to more comments. Thanks again, Robert
I really appreciate that. There is a lot of effort that goes into each one to make it as good as I reasonably can. Thanks for watching, and taking the time to comment.
My grandfather Jeri Oppenheim took me to Horsefly when I was a kid. He used to have a Royal Crown Lease there. I still remember his friend Cliff the trapper who lived on the hill just above the lake.
@RobertMerz Sadly, he is long gone. He was probably 70 in the 1970's A real old school trapper. I have pictures of him as a kid. I remember him rolling his cigarettes in this really cool flat machines. I also remember this house across the lake with barrels piled up. The neighbors even used an old clothes ringer to get the water out of the clothes before hanging them.
Interesting enough was close to horsefly last summer while heading to my friend’s acreage in Big Lake. The highway 97 is truly beautiful in that area. Thanks for sharing the ride my friend. Cheers, Eddie
You’re right!! Never been to Horsefly, but I did know about this place before. You had an awesome day to ride that road and road condition looks great for a big bike !
"It's not Likely" is a phrase that works on a couple levels. It is unlikely that someone hmmm, let's say in Australia, has been to Horsefly as it is a fairly small, out of the way place. But also after leaving 150 Mile House there was a road to the left, in the vid it is where the "Horsefly Road" title comes up, and that road continues to the small community of Likely!
Hey thank You!, for watching another one! The Likely area is a great place to plan some off road adventures from. One of the most popular is the Likely to Barkerville via Matthew River and for a more hardcore route, via Yanks Peak. Here is a link to a video of a portion of the Matthew River Route: ua-cam.com/video/pxp0nc4mjlQ/v-deo.htmlsi=CUnDAPmWp1E5IqrM
Too bad, I was serving pop corn and the whole nine yards!! I think a lot of people missed it because of a time zone thing (or maybe they just don't care). So I am on Pacific Standard Time for the winter, yes that is one hour later then Central. British Columbia switches to Daylight Savings time just a couple weeks ago, so now we are an hour earlier then before, and that would be the same as Central Standard. Sorry you missed it, but at least you showed up eventually, and I really appreciate that!
My ride videos are a ton of work to edit. Trying to make an hour plus of riding into 15 minutes of smooth transitions, encouraging the viewer to just lose themselves in the journey, is what I try to accomplish with these particular vids. Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment.
I try to protect my hearing most of the time, when I ride I wear ear plugs, not for the engine noise but to block out the wind noise. I find the ear plugs help a lot.

You’ve done the audio and video perfectly. The sound of the engine is so relaxing I fall asleep to you watching ride through towns

Thanks so much Charlie! I am glad you were willing to wait for some new content. I am getting more lined up as well.

Horsefly is still a very cool place, with lots of history. I wonder if Cliff still lives on the hill above the lake.

Well HAY!!! From Cape Caaard.😅
Nice how you dubbed the music with the engine rev. Bike sounds great. Congrats on another safe ride n vid.

I went through Likely road too !
Se estiver de volta ao Big Lake, me avise, pode ser uma boa desculpa para eu dar uma volta.

am deaf, have ridden a m/c in years

Love the videos, but your music needs to get amped a bit, very low sound and quality man, keep up the good rides
Sorry about that, perhaps try watching the video on a different device and see if there is any improvement.
