I was there from the start! My first figure was Grunt. Out of the 1982 line I had the all the Cobra figures, half the Joes, the VAMP, MMS, and MOBAT as well as the FLAK and RAM. It was an amazing time, most of my gifts were either GI Joe or Star Wars for about 2-3 years. I love this channel so much!
I got most of the '82 wave for Christmas that year including the carrying case. I completed that wave with the exception of the Cobra Missile Base and still have it on display. The first 13 are still my favorite Joes. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
1980 through 1984 were the best years of that decade! I wish I would have been jimmy on the stick with GI Joe in '82 but I didn't get involved until '85 unfortunately. I was pretty deep into Star Wars for those years. Star Wars is not GI Joe. I did manage to gather a good amount of early Joe figures through trading with kids in the neighborhood. Scarlett was my holy grail figure due to the fact that I had a painful crush on her. No matter how hard I tried I never could find her because no kid in my neighborhood had her. Still hurts a little bit - I would have traded BIG for that one.
It’s sad that this makes it seem real, that some day, your reviews that I look forward to every week, will end. 😱😭. Keep up the fantastic job, Hoodie Co Co!
Great video, one year complete, 12 more to go, hope we have many long years to go till the end, you know it's the end when rock n roll v2 gets reviewed, keep up the great work, and let's keep going and making new friends.
Unironically loving the Toss & Cross chilling out on the shelf with a load of stuff on it. I just got one for the first time recently, am loving the silly thing!
Very cool. I've never seen the whole toyline (of any year) collected like that. It really gives one an appreciation for the commitment somebody had for getting it going. It wasn't just some figures - it was an entire range. Great job, Commander. One bit of criticism, however: I recommend keeping the variant accessories and so forth out of the opening rotating shot of each figure. It might be better to pick one version and display the figure as it came, saving the variants for the followup shot.
Hoodie, I think I have a (one) Stalker straight arm for you. I meant to send it to you a while ago... but this video reminded me. I'll dig it up again and get it in the mail.
The Cobra Missile Command Headquarters was my very first GIJoe toy. I didn't even have any of the Joes for Cobra to fight against. So I had to use Star Wars figures as the good guys! The good old days!
Thanks for another great video HCC! Between this video and the incredible PSA video you recently released, your quality is only getting better and better!
Awesome, great video thanks! (Finally)Setting up my whole lifetime gi joe collection display, something I’ve always wanted to do. I would love to share it with you when I’m done!! Discovered your videos last year, and really enjoyed them, when was replacing all my o rings. (…And made my first joe purchase since 2003)
Breaker was my first 80s Joe too. Then Rock n Roll. Rock n Roll was my favorite in the comics cause he played guitar, and an M60 machine gun. I wish he would've been in more comic stories. They always concentrated on Snake Eyes and Scarlett mostly. I really wanted a Quinn back then...
They did concentrate a lot on Rock n Roll in the early days. Scarlet & Snake Eyes did take over late in the Marvel run though. Have you ever seen the comic 3 pack figure of Kwinn?
XMas 82 I got Steeler and the MOBAT, with Canada flag stickers. I remember seeing the Cobra Base in the Sears catalog. But I didn't get any more Joe's until 84, because Return of the Jedi came out in 83, and that's all I cared about when I was 8.
Growing up in Brazil, the 1982 and 83 lineup only made it to the store the next year, and in 1985.. As the toys became more successful, the gap shortned. 1985 would "debut" for us in 1986, and so on...
Just so everyone knows some people say breaker was underused in the cartoon that is False. Breaker made many appearances in the first season of the cartoon just wanted to correct people on that.
@@peterang78 Whats worse is half the battle.com lists how many appearances characters had in the cartoon so they could at least check that before making a mistake.
He'll fight for freedom whenever there is trouble G.I Joe is there! It's here the G.I Joe collection Infantry trooper. Codename: Grunt Bazooka soldier. Codename: Zapp Mortar soldier. Codename: Short-fuze Laser rifle trooper. Codename: Flash Ranger. Codename: Stalker Communications officer. Codename: Breaker Machine gunner. Codename Rock n roll Counter intelligence. Codename: Scarlett Commando. Codename: Snake eyes Each sold separately. G.I JOE from Hasbro
I remember back in the day I had snow job and blow torch both of their rubber bands broke I was able to fix them but I mix their body parts together to make my own Joe which I called blow job
The World: "1981" was the best year!" Me: "Just wait a year." The World: "Oh really?" Me: #1. 3 1/4 inch Joes introduced. #2.Masters Of The Universe is born. #3. Cheers, Knight Rider and Family Ties debuts. #4. We get Rocky vs. Clubber Lang (Mr.T to morons). #5. We meet heroes like Rambo, Conan The Barbarian and Beast Master. #6. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Michael Jackson and Duran Duran release their most popular albums. .....And much more!
I must say Hawk version 1 is pretty bad in my opinion. Why would they make the leader of the team a vehicle driver it makes no sense to me and nothing was unique they didn't even change the colors. In the comics Hawk sometimes wore a colonels uniform I wish that was the hawk we had in 82 and 83 and he would be a carded figure. Version 2 of hawk was a major improvement in every way. Version 2 of Hawk may have changed his look but it was for the best since Duke was more recognizable and Dukes action figure was way more leader looking. Version 2 of Hawk gets my overall approval cause that version looked like a leader.
Holy crap so many of us had Breaker as our first Joe.
I really enjoy the first years of GI Joe. I like the uniformity of the Joe's. There's a feel of "Standard Issue" in the line.
I would love too see other overviews of other years like this.
I still remember every year at Christmas digging through the Sears wishbook and circling everything GI Joe good times
I got most of the '82 wave for Christmas that year including the carrying case. I completed that wave with the exception of the Cobra Missile Base and still have it on display. The first 13 are still my favorite Joes. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
That was awesome- thanks. Now I can appreciate why 8-year old me was obsessed with this stuff.
I loved the overview! My favorite GI JOE year! Nicely done, HCC788!
Thanks, Hoodie; see you in 1983!
Glad to see you go back to the 80s. Those bright colors from those 90s figures messed with my eyes😎
I love this series of G.I. Joe action figures (1983-1994). The one that started the 3 3/4" Joes. It's so totally awesome.
My childhood was awesome, thank you everybody at Hasbro for creating G.I. Joe - COMANDOS EM AÇÃO !!! 😎😉😊
Can't wait to see the next retrospective, especially for the next three years after 1982.
83 was a favorite. Great toy line
Ahhh the RAM motorcycle, my first G.I Joe anything! Awesome!

Great video!
I believe I still own all of those 1982 toys except the missile command base... all Canadian Joes.
My Snake Eyes disintegrated over a short time. I ended up with the later version that held up much better.
Guitardudeguy 313 kinda like upgraded little green army men. Tripwire kinda completes the set being dressed in green and holding a mine detector
Very cool video Hoodie. I think the earliest Joe that we found in the box I got at a yard sale for my son was Leatherneck v1.
Unironically loving the Toss & Cross chilling out on the shelf with a load of stuff on it. I just got one for the first time recently, am loving the silly thing!
I can't wait for the other retrospective videos! Yo Joe! 🙏

For me the best came 83 onwards but I have to say I really like Steeler and the Cobra Officer,FLAK, RAM and the VAMP 👍😁
Awesome! YO JOE!💥😯👏🏿👏🏿😁👍🏿
Hoodie, I think I have a (one) Stalker straight arm for you. I meant to send it to you a while ago... but this video reminded me. I'll dig it up again and get it in the mail.
That is cool for him. Stalker is his favorite character
Congratulations on this big milestone.
that was my first too! I liked the adventure team resemblance
The Cobra Missile Command Headquarters was my very first GIJoe toy. I didn't even have any of the Joes for Cobra to fight against. So I had to use Star Wars figures as the good guys! The good old days!

Awesome 👏

I really need some 82 gi joe figures like flash, zap, Scarlett and snake eyes.

Great job as usual!
Awesome review!
Cool review, it’s nice seeing them all together. Breaker was my first too!
my first vehicle was the RAM and first figure was ROCK n' ROLL
Breaker was my first joe too
Cool tattoo man.
I have the new classified Ram with breaker sitting on my router. Reminds me of getting the original RAM AT KMART in 82.
Stalker looks like an English Gurkha
The RAM is sweet
Always loved it

I classify cobra commander 1.5 as 1983 due to being at retail.

Jake Proven yeah that true. I don’t know why many collectors didn’t know that. I guess, some of them never rewatch the cartoons.

Your uploads are a great distraction from the real world hcc788
was this the best year for gi joe?
Why is the flag upside down? 11:45
I remember the guns being different, does anyone know if they were? I live in Canada. My first that I recall were Torpedo and Rock and Roll.
Canadian here too. I remember the guns being the same as in the video.
What are the other years you are closet to completing, bro?

Still need a Scarlett... she's getting more expensive...
Bring back hasbro g.i Joe
Mickey Mouse Cobra Commander?????
Are there any black female GI Joes?
Doc 2, Mistress Armada, Shooter, and Railgun operater Mayday.
