I saw a twitch streamer talk about how they flip the light against the wall to create softer light that fills the room more too! I love these tips and anything that involves using an iPad feels fancy so I’m a fan of it’s more reoccurring appearances 😆
what that streamer did is called "bounce lighting", really nice method to make your lighting natural, you can even do it with your phone!, simply open the camera and open your control panel on your phone and turn on the flashlight and point your phone to the wall, obv the flash isn't super bright like a light bulb but its very sufficient to give some fill light.
this is the best video iv seen for beginners who dont know a lot about lighting......other videos iv seen dont go into this in the same easy to understand way
Your timing is impeccable! I needed this specific advice before May. Also thank you for filming while you had glasses. Sincerely, a vision impaired queen with a ring light.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 THANK YOU!!! I've been try to figure this out for A LONG time video after video and my lighting was still on the struggle bus. I have a condition called bells palsy and long story short bad lighting just makes me look 🤦🏽♀️ Thank you the demo and explanation
The principle is to only choose the right and not the expensive. This principle applies only to popular demand. Now the common parameters of the latest lamps in 2022: 1. (1) There are 10 levels of brightness, and the color temperature is 2900K-6700K. If you can't reach it, you can pass it directly, because they are out of date; (2) The computer clip used by 6-8inch has the disadvantage of damaging the computer screen. 10-12inch use desktop stand, limited lighting range and usage scenarios. 14-16 inches, these two sizes are relatively small, neither big nor small, and the scope of application is limited. 18-20 inches, more recommended, the brightness and usage scenarios can meet most needs, 21-22 inches, the brightness is better, but due to the large head of the lamp, the bracket is unstable and easy to tilt. (3) Most of the brackets on the market are of the same specification, and the selling points of each are concentrated on the ring light. 2. 1%-100% LED display, I suggest that non-professional photographers do not need to choose, can you see with your eyes where the difference in brightness between 10% and 15% is? When we generally use it, we use our eyes to see if it meets our lighting effects. It is just like the general rotation and buttons to adjust up and down. 2. There are two types of power supplies, one is USB and the other is Power Adapter with Plug. If you have high requirements on the brightness of the light, choose the Power Adapter with Plug, because it includes all the brightness of USB and higher. 3. The number of lamps directly affects the effect of lighting. The more lamp beads of the same specification, the more evenly distributed the light. Color Rendering Index CRI>90, the higher the CRI, the better, the closer to natural light, the more expensive the price. 4. The more lamp beads of the same specification, the more uniform the light will be. If you can't remember so many parameters, it doesn't matter. Look at the title. The parameters displayed in the title represent the seller's advantage. If the advantages of the title cannot reach the above parameters or the description indicates that this parameter is lower than the basic parameters on the market, Sellers want to highlight their advantages and make you want to buy. Different usage needs, you can choose the one that suits you according to your own needs. mtw.so/6aV1zK
Why do I get a yellow color on the face of my model? Is it OK to use ring light and another led light at the same time to take a portrait photo? I am a make up artist. Thank you very much.
Great tips on tech specs when buying a light for the 1st time. Tx. I read 40inch light and colour correctness of CRI >90 but never thought about the power supply.
I like how you explain it with subtle sarcasm - I had a good time watching you give your lesson and it went straight to my head!! Good work yes, I am fond of artists who demonstrate/express their perspectives
I don't have tons of studio setup experience but from playing with the configuration, I got the best lighting by having the camera (DSLR) aimed through the center of the ring light and had a second light (a large softbox) offset at an angle to create soft shadows. The two lights together made it easier to take control of the contrast. Of course, that's fine for a studio setting where you don't have to haul equipment and have the space for a space-hog of a light fixture.
I'm lucky to have a local public library with a dedicated photo/video/podcast studio that's free for patrons to use, and includes the big ring light & softbox.
Great video! Thank you. Really simplistic while being detailed enough to understand light and the effect on images. Drawing on the photo really drives the principles home. I have to buy and use a ring light for helpful. Instant subscriber even though I am not a content creator.
Thank you so much for this video. It was so incredibly helpful. I have felt for a long time now that my ringlight makes me look like I have a double chin and it was driving me crazy and now I know why. 😭
You are like the cool elementary teacher who make sure that our foundation of knowledge is built great but in a fun engaging way without making us feel stupid ❤️
Wow!! I've been using the ringlight wrong all this time!! 😱 Like you said, lighting is quite complex! I appreciate this quick and simple tip so much! 🙏💕 Can you do a video on how to find a good backdrop for someone like me who's not a photographer? I'm always curious how you know where to pick certain spots to take pictures (like where to shoot inside a home, a restaurant, a park, the street etc)?
Thank you so much for all this wonderful information!! I have a question.. how to position a ring light when wearing glasses so that it doesn’t reflect in the glasses constantly? I am thinking towards standing up moving around a bit in front of the camera showcasing art for sale.
Please give me answer.... At 6:19 which setup you do... How much light and friquency.. I have a good ring light but I am not able to use correctly... Please any one suggest me
I'd love to learn from you how to take photos of animals or food, since those can't pose, how can we make them pose? Lol i hope you know what I mean. Thank you 💖💖💖💖 lots of love and light for you
yes and no.... this is a great tutorial on how to use a ring light as a key light in a one light set up, but a ring lights benefit is the concentric lighting, and circles in the eyes...a technique which originated from ring flash techniques. if you don't have access to other lights, then go this route, but if possible, use a dedicated light or flash with a modifier on it as a key light

This is exactly what i do for my zoom meetings
