This video just saved my Singer from the landfill.
😂
The stitch is lock Can't unlock it and I put oil on it,- iand moving back and for. Is there another way to unlock the stech
Mine too!
This video was worth a hour’s watch. It just saved me servicing charges that are more than I paid for my machine. Thank you.
that was the best hour I spent today... I picked up a Singer Simple for a 20... it is soo sticky and she said tension issues... I was thinking probably needs oil .. and wow what a stupid setup.. not a single port to oil unless you take whole thing apart... ok .. I have my project today.. will keep your vid going and follow along pausing as I go.. thank you Sir.. wonderful video.. very very good job! bravo!
Bad news.. I serviced her exactly as shown.. but it refuses to sew still.. it wont stay timed.. a set screw at bottom keeps going loose and it wont make the revolution to pick up bottom thread... I hate this thing
good news.. timing was way off.. took me 2 days of fiddling but its running again woot!! and well oiled now
Thank you so much for your very informative video. My machine was totally jammed up, I had no idea what was wrong or how to go about fixing it. I followed you step by step and in under 2 hours the problem was sorted and my machine is running beautifully again. I really cannot thank you enough.
You saved my machine ❤ thank you so much for making this
Thank you, you saved me the cost of a repair and stress. When you mentioned "make sure your bobbinb winder is off" that rang a bell. My machine started purring! Thank you, thank you!!
You are very welcome, thank you for watching!
Thank you for this video! My Singer Esteem II was completely seized up and your video helped me get her all lubed up and running smoothly again. I greatly appreciate your attention to detail and clear instructions.
Hello there. Just wanted to say THANK YOU for this video. I watched it to know how to open the singer MX60 because i heard something rattling insides had the hardest time opening it. You made it super EASY. And i fixed the issue ❤❤❤
Thanks so much for all your help and the picture. I never had anything on that part of the machine apart, but evidently someone else did. I bought it from a auction so who knows.thanks again!
Had a ton of black gunk come out. This overall lubrication made a world of difference - MUCH improved. Thank you!
Thank you for the great video. Fixed the “stuck in reverse” problem and put everything back using your great instruction! Very grateful for step by step explanations and warnings of how not to damage fragile plastic.
I just finished servicing my sewing machine, really helpful! Thank you!
This vid just completely resuscitated my Singer Prelude and now it’s running like new. Thanks man!
Your very welcome!
Super useful video, thanks. I've never serviced anything mechanical before and managed to pull this off! I feel like a hero💪
Thank you Sooo Much! I was looking for a shop I finally found one and they were outrageous expensive!! I could have bought a new Singer I did the whole Tune Up. Thank you for your patience and amazing demonstration. I appreciate you! Unfortunately I had to store for a couple months. I go to run it and stitch knob turns but no change in stitches and feeder not working 🤦♀️ she was humming like a pro after being jammed so I’m watching this again so I can possibly get back to that!!thanks again. 💜
Excellent!!! Your video is highly informative, clear instructions and highly beneficial… I followed your instructions and my machine is running wonderfully smoothly and no sound. That’s amazing.👍
Good sir, you helped me save my singer simple! I wasn’t ready to throw it out!!!
I just got a top load new but would enjoy watching the repair if ever needed. Singer 3337. Thank you
Thanks for the video! I have this exact sewing machine saved me from buying a new one
Thank you for this video. I am 52 little nervous with opening the machine but it definitely helped in cleaning tips that will try as soon as possible. Thank you once again. God Bless you
Thank you for such a thorough explanation. After watching your video, I feel confident now to check what's wrong with a friend's Singer Simple sewing machine.
Thank you for the detailed video! I was able to find the issue with my machine, fix it and reassemble everything. Now it works like new!
You are very welcome, I am happy to be able to help.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you so much for doing this video! My machine is 10+ years old and I hardly used it. However, I have been a sewing badass the past six months and my machine was starting to run and sound really clunky. Problem - I had NEVER oiled/lubed/cleaned my machine. Now, she's running like brand new!
Omg! Thanks I couldn't remove the front part I didn't know about that screw. I almost break it. I was struggling until I found your video. ❤️😀
You are very welcome!
Thank you!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! i got a hand-me-down singer simple 3116 machine that was making tons of awful squeaking sounds that i couldn't figure out the source of. i went through and cleaned and oiled all the usual spots (i have a brother machine at my parents house) and it ended up being that silly little notch that's unreachable from the outside. i never would have known where to look without this video!
Your tutorial was very helpful, thank you so much for your video’s. Have been sewing various projects for over 50 years, but didn’t know how to service or fix problems with my sewing machine. Your video’s are easy to follow, making it easier to fix the problems. Thanks
Thank you for your helpful and clear video! ❤ I managed to fix my singer 2282 blocked wheel due to a stupid thing that had slipped out of place during transport. You are my Santa this year! Thank youuu 🥰
this video just saved my machine! My reverse button was stuck and you helped me be able to safely take my machine apart and get it going. I had to do a temporary fix with Wd40 I am ordering the Trifold oil and grease now. Thank you thank you thank you!!
Thank you so much for your very helpful video. I’ve received a used Singer Simple and I’m gifting it to my 9 year old granddaughter, but it was squeaking while I sewed. I’m sure a thorough cleaning/oiling will make it right again.
Thank you SO very much. This machine drove me bat sheet crazy yesterday. I'll check out your other sewing video's tomorrow. Again, Thank you I really appreciate it and I'm sure my husband does also being he only had to borrow me the oil. :) Very informative video! Everything went just as you said even down to the bobbin piece having a piece of link stopping the smooth action. Who knew? LOL
Thank you so much!! This was a perfect in-depth tutorial that worked like a dream! It's like the squeak in my machine never existed!
That is awesome!
I am glad you were able to get it fixed, thank you!!
Thank you SO MUCH! REALLY good video, Thank you so much for showing every little step!
I had been asking hubby to help with problem I was having, for ages. Thanks to your video I was able to do it myself. Ian sooooo pleased. Thank you.
You are very welcome!
Sewing machines are a little different when it comes to troubleshooting and repairs so it can be difficult.
That is awesome you were able to get it figured out and fixed, I am happy to have been able to help.
Thank you for watching and commenting, I appreciate it!!
I don’t now what I’m doing but by watching this found the problem with my sewing machine
Thank you!!! I had your video on and it was such a support while I was doing oil maintenance on my Singer 8280 for the first time ever! Appresh!! Peace, Lisa jkg
That’s the best video I ever watched you are the saver for singer machine
Thank you, I appreciate that❤️
17:36 holy CRAP.. I've been trying to take this thing apart for hours and this was the problem!! Thanks man!!!
Great video!! I was able to completely fix and maintain my wife’s sewing machine using your video! Thank you!
You are very welcome!
I am happy to hear my video helped and you got your wife's machine fixed, a happy wife makes for a peaceful house.
Thank you for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it!
Thank you so so much for making this video, you helped me get my machine working again. ❤
You are very welcome!
Thank you so much for this video on the Singer 2263 Servicing a Singer. I really learned so much. My Backstitch lever is locked up and I couldn’t get front cover off. My machine has not been sewing good and had took it apart, but didn’t do a lot of what I should have. Hoping a good oiling on parts will work.
Excellent video. Definitely helped me service a "simple" I just acquired!
Great video, Thankyou for your thoughtfulness and sharing your knowledge.
Thank you so much for your video. I got a Simple at a yard sale for free after no one bought it. It had been sitting on a shelf for years and made a lot of noise when it ran and no zigzag stitches worked. I went through your video step by step and now it purrs like a kitten and zigzags again. I ended up with one screw left over but apparently it was not needed (I hope). The bobbin winder still screeches when winding but I think it is just the rubber wheel getting old like me. Can't thank you enough!!!
Deb
Thank you for this video! I inherited a Singer Simple and it was squeaking when i tested it out. I followed you video and it is working better. I am having a problem with the reverse being stuck though.
Just got this type machine new. The hand wheel feels like it drags sometimes. I plan to re lube it. So glad for this video.
Thanks you just helped med me tremendously….I am currently home bound and really needed my machine…thanks so much…appreciate
Hello Jazzy's Mommy,
You are very welcome.
I am happy I was able to help!
Hope you have a great day.
i am so thankful for this and ready to try.
Great video! Thank you! The hardest part is getting that rear cover off.
Thank you Sir for an excellent tutorial. I'm very experience in all things mechanical but was terrified by my wife's sewing machine. It was knocking loudly! Following along step by step I was able to get it running smoothly again.
You are very welcome!
Yes sewing machines are very different and can be a little nerve racking.
I am happy to have been of help, and glad you got your wife's machine fixed.
This video was sooo helpful...great job thank you
THANK YOU!!!!! Great video, easy to follow and now my sewing machine purrrrrrrrrrs !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the hidden case screw location!
Thank you ,your videos are great! Keep the good work coming👍
Yes ma'am I sure will.
Excellent video. Helped me repair my mom's machine that was stuck on reverse.
Thank you so much for this! This was so very helpful to me. I started adding oil to the part you mentioned at 22:42 and a bunch of black stuff kept coming out. Also at 31:10 is when you mentioned the brand of oil / grease you use. Going out to get some of that today
Just went through and serviced my machine for the first time today. I was intimidated and stopped sewing for a long time because I couldn’t afford a new machine and I was afraid to mess mine up; but now it sounds quieter and runs smoother 🥹 thank you so much!
You are very welcome!
Thanks so much
Great video. Thank you so much!!!
Thx alot for xpending ur time showing us how to do it, very well xplained,my machine has da same sound as this, thanks again🙏
This was INCREDIBLY helpful!!! Thank you so much!
Thank you for a great video! I am just going through the whole process and everything seems great. The only thing I haven't fixed is when I go to refill the bobbin, it starts screeching. I have oiled what I can see or get to, but nothing changes. If I adjust the height of the needle, then it mostly improves, but the problem is still there.
I have a front load bobbin. Thank You for this video
Your very welcome!
This was so helpful thank you.
Front load thanks for the tips!
Thanks dear i fixed my 3229 simple machine with your assistance as it was stuck
Thank u very much… fixed my issue
You are very welcome, I am happy to have been able to help!!
Thank you for letting me know>
Very Very informative video👍👍👍
Your videos are great! I did opt to drill a dime ( a little smaller actually) size hole through the plastic to access the spot on the Simple Singer machine to add oil. Hope it does help since the MX 60 model does freeze up so often! :( but its so lightweight I'm doing my best to work with it and keep it. Thanks again.
Thank you😃
..Спасибо.. Очень подробный обзор.. Всё понятно и точечно рассказано, и показано.. 👍👍👍👍👌👌👌 ..
Many thanks❤
You are very welcome.
Thank you!
Thank you so much!!!
You are very welcome, thank you!
Thank you for the tutorial. I have a Singer Starlet that sews really fin but smells burnt every time a start sewing. So I'm gonna open it.
NOTE FOR REASSEMBLY: I had to hold the reverse lever on the front panel up while fitting that panel back on to ensure that the lever on the panel was properly catching the mechanism on the inside of the machine.
I noticed this too
Much appreciated the video.
I have an issue with the needle. It is stuck at the left side and it doesn't get to the center position even moving the knob for changing the type of stitch.
A "professional" worked on it and it came worse than it came.
Thanks!
It's really help a lot❤
Thanks so very much !!! Mine froze it only hummed and i followed you advice I’m still not sure about motor Felts ? But I will watch that tutorial. But my simple front loaded works now !!!
I struggled with the felts too! They are between the outer casing and the little metal piece right on the other side. There’s a tiny gap where the felts are right on the side of the casing. Sandwiched between them. The 3 little metal parts that you can see on the little blade thingy just on the inside is what keeps the felts together. Like the “bread”.
But if you put a little oil right along the other side of the casing you should be fine :)
Great Video
Please mention that if the machine is set to thread the bobbin the turn handle will lock. This is a really simple fix that most people don't know about or forget about. Thanks for your video friend. You are a very good teacher. I would never take the machine apart, I'd take it to a professional. However, this machine was given to me for free brand new and now that I figured out why the turn handle was locked I have to figure out why my bobbin thread is jamming in the bobbin area. Free is never free, right? lol. 😆
Yes, on some machines because how the clutch/stop motion is made when the bobbin winder is engaged it locks the hand wheel.
Here is a video to help you better understand your machine and why it loops and jambs up.

Thank you
Your very welcome!
Thank you!!
What an Awesome. Amazing tutorial.
Thank you soo much for your excellent explanation.
I have a Singer 1425 that I bought in 1982.
I can't find any service videos on it.
I am trying to figure out: why when I remove the bottom cover oil it and run the machine sounds fine. . But when I put back the bottom cover it sounds hard. . !
What can it be?
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!
God Bless!
Greetings from Bakersfield,California
😊
This was THE MOST helpful video! Detailed and easy to follow
Thank you!
Just watched your video, then feeling I was confident enough went ahead and got my Singer out which I thought was jammed
took it all apart and followed you advice, still not able to get the band wheel to turn towards me it would turn no bother the other way, by pure chance I noticed that the bobbin winder was engaged, which of course stops the shank from turning !! Wasn't
I feeling stupid ,but at least it got a good service Now for my other machine a Singer confident it's playing up the stitching is all to pot , the stitches are tiny and taut maybe you could do a video on that please. Anyway thanks for all the great advice I learned heaps watching you , All the best from Aberdeen Scotland.😊
Thank you!
I am glad I could help and that you got your machine going again.
I make videos on the machines that come in for repair, when I get a Singer Confidence I will make a video on it.
If your stitches are small check your stitch length, if it is making a mess under the fabric, make sure it is properly threaded, the thread is between the tension discs and in the take up lever.
Mae sure your tensioner is between3 to 5 or on auto depending on which design you have.
Check your needle plate and bobbin case for damage and repair or replace as needed..
Thanks so much will do what you suggest 😀

You are very welcome, Thank you!
Love the video! Just need plain color fabric for testing.
Thank You!
Yes please do a video for the top load.
This video was so helpful and I got my machine working again!
I am now having a problem with the stitch selector. When I switch stitches, the spring doesn’t bounce all the way back, so I can’t get to a straight stitch. Do you have a video on how to fix that?
Thank you thank you thank you thank you !!! !
This is exactly the same model I have -- singer 2263. Tonight the length dial is stuck between s1 and 0. Maybe I have to open the machine and hopefully I can fix it.
I have a top load bobbin on my Singer Simple 3337. So count me in on learning how to service it. Thanks
Hello Richard,
About a few months ago, Debora wrote to you about replacing a broken bobbin winder plastic arm assembly for our Singer Simple 2263. The machine we have looks exactly like your video machine. To make along story short, the replacement parts from a supplier that are guarantied to fit -> didn't. Two months later and after two parts that that didn't fit, then on the third try I asked for the bobbin winder assembly part for the Promise Machine. I removed the bobbin winder arm with the tire and put it on the original bracket. It worked!!!!! Now to my next problem. I started to reassemble the machine. When I was given the machine, the shuttle hook holder, the shuttle hook and the bobbin case were loose in a plastic bag. The machine moves nicely without the shuttle hook and shuttle hook holder. However, once I put in the shuttle hook and the holder in place; the right toggle lever was hard to turn left onto the holder. So I loosened it and turned it. Now the shuttle hook is on so tight that it does not want to move, when I try to turn the hand wheel. What am I doing wrong?
You should never loosen the the holders that hold the hook in place.
It sounds like the parts you received in the bag with the machine ( the hook and race) are not the correct parts for the machine.
This is the same machine I have, and I love it, and I love this video. So nice to be able to give extra TLC to my machine. I am curious, it seems like there's a place where a post could go to have two threads loaded for double needle stitching. Is that an option for this machine?
❤❤very very super happy
Thank you for so much great information. The machine I am working on(same one as in this video) has timing issues. Where do I find the set screws to adjust the timing? I don't want to create more problems than I already have! Would really appreciate your help. Thanks again!
Could you do this level of maintenance for a Brother Simplicity machine?? My student grandson has one and it has not been oiled or maintained in longer than I want to admit. Your coaching is so excellent.
I have an older singer 860. It still runs quite well, but have noticed a loud static noise when I do any adjusting to the stitch length knob (and sometimes it continues on after adjustment). Above it is the stitch width knob. I have never taken the front piece off my machine. So do you think I can just pull the knobs off to see what may be happening with stitch length controller. Thank you for any suggestions you may have or perhaps you may already know why that noise is occurring??
Front load just got it today
When I step on the gas, it struggles. I am not sure what to type in for help. When hand turning, counterclockwise is ok, clockwise is a hard no. Your video is great!! You helped me get it apart without breaking it. What am I looking for?
@@cindyhathaway2181
Sounds like the machine has a heavy buildup and needs to be cleaned and then re-lubricated
I managed to do that. Had my husband do the motor as he is mechanical and I am everything but. Does the housing to the motor usually get really hot? And when hand turning, should it go both ways? Thank you for your advice and especially for your video.
Thank you for your help, I’m waiting for my oil to come in but my question is when I took off the front of the machine removing the last screw a spacer bar fell from something. Can you tell me where it might have come from? Thank you
Thank you for this video. You are give all information very clearly. Thank you so much.my singer 1306 machine having a humming noise when I switch on. Even when not using.can you please give me an advise to fix it
Sounds like there is a problem with the foot pedal not shutting off completely.
Thank you for this video. I am trying to fix this same machine for a church class teaching youth to sew. It won't move, just sews in the same place. It must be the feeddogs. What kind of oil and grease do you use?
I have 3 older Singers - all bottom load bobbins. On one the gears are locked up to wind the bobbin. And the front will not swing open. The two others the stitching is messed up.
