One thing I've learned with this vanish is that sometimes, after talking for a little bit, it can be powerful to reveal the coin as if it was inside the pen by just pulling the cap off with the hand with the coin and then simply dropping the coin into your palm with a downwards motion as if the coin was inside the cap.

I see you actually took out the bit where he says "Please take this part out." this time. Glad that the joke ran it's course.
Funny at the time but I'm glad it wasn't repeatedly beaten until it dies.

before doing this move you could make the pen vanish on the third tap (tell them to watch closely, while they are waiting for the coin to vanish, stick the pen behind your ear before striking the third time.)

Whole bunch of practice required. I love the subtlety of misdirection, people watch the pen and where *it* is and not where the coin is. That seems to be the key to misdirecting from the sleight of hand

you could try to transition into the Downs Palm(DP) trick afterwards to show that it's not in any hand, Then complete the DP trick, making the coin appear back in your hand.

I did a variation of this where you put the pen behind your ear/in your shirt and come back down with no pen and then say, " huh that's not supposed to happen. I must have messed up." No one knew what happened and then I took a second pen out of my pocket and did the original it was awesome. It's hard to explain but there's a way to make both disappear

In the performance, do you think you could set it up as "I'm going to tap the coin three times, on the third time it will change into a ____", then go "One, two-" and on the second tap have it vanish, ditch it and pretend it vanished...
    Is this too ambitious?
