  • Arizona Representative Eli Crane has exposed the failings of the Secret Service in protecting former US president Donald Trump.
Crane, an ex-Navy SEAL, posted a video of himself on Monday walking across the roof where Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire.
The representative's video highlighted several mistakes by the government agency leading up to the shooting.
“I’m up here on the building where the supposed sniper took a shot. It’s not that steep at all, we just had a 70-year-old man back here climb up on the roof easily,” he said.
Following the attempted assassination of Trump, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle faced a wave of criticism.
The criticism towards Cheatle increased following her excuse regarding why the roof Crooks used, was not secured.
“That building in particular has a sloped roof, at its highest point. And so, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,” Cheatle said in an interview with ABC News.
