Love how Luke starts off all "I have to walk like an ape, this is so humiliating!!" but within seconds he's fully indoctrinated and ready to bust some human heads. This game is TOO immersive!!
Heh, reminds me of when I play TIE Fighter. That game is brilliant at getting you into the game enough that you're happy to be supporting the empire, proud of your accomplishments in service to the emperor, etc, even though we all know that the Star Wars Empire are basically space Nazis. Well, aside from the whole holocaust issue. Alderaan might be considered a parallel as far as the whole genocide thing is concerned, but that's painted as pragmatism, not a product of a twisted ideology. The books take a few steps toward bringing that in (without going so far as to push themselves out of the YA market), but a person playing TIE Fighter at the time may not have been familiar with them. (These days, they probably would be; anyone who's playing that game today is probably a fan of the series.)
Here I am, back once again, to watch my favourite cheer-up video by this iconic duo, in light of the news about this iconic duo. Luke, the laughter and good vibes you brought about in this and all videos will be very missed! But we can always go back and see presh mems like this 🥹
"Why don't i just kill them with my strong orc arms?" The two realities are bleeding into one. When Luke is ultimately completely consumed during this play-through he will be a hybrid of both Ape and Dob. It was good to know you...human Luke Westaway.
Half-Orc, half-Ape, half-Thor, and also half-Hulk, with the mind of Human Luke Westaway. Kind of explains everything. The thunder, the strength, the dashing good looks, the skin, the agility, and the wittiness. On a side-note: Let's just hope his sister doesn't turn into another Hela.
Ellen and Luke just made me realize that I can laugh over my laughter when Luke flipped the guard off and Ellen started laughing. You cannot get this entertainment anywhere else folks 😂😂
And this is the moment Luke decided he wanted to live as an ape for the rest of this life, however he realised it was too tiring and went back to making OXtra videos with Ellen
I love how it takes Ellen a full second to realise Luke almost punched her at 23:44, clearly Luke has been dulling her senses so his Predator self can strike at any time.
I love this. I live for seeing Luke pawing about happy as a clam (and then listlessly in dead exhaustion) in VR while Ellen stares amusedly into the camera like Jim Halpert from The Office, haha. :D
Is that Luke Westaway or Andy Serkis? It's so hard to tell! I mean apart from the horrifying arm movements, the macarena, and flinging the gun across the room, they're practically identical!
Proof that Luke and I are the same person. When approached by an army scientist who will probably dissect us, both of our first thought were "I should do the Macarena."
"you're getting a good work out here Luke"... He's sitting down, moving his arms. That would be a good workout if he was 90 years old or weighed 400 pounds, haha
4:00 "It's good to be an ape... being an ape is pure bliss." 20:00 "Now I see why the apes are so angry! I never thought that swinging around like an ape would be more annoying than walking."
Ellen's laugh, especially in situations like this, is the absolute best. That said, every time I watch one of these OX VR videos, I'm always worried someone is going to get punched in the face or felt up
VR ape arms are basically my Actual Reality human man person arms. Seeing Luke flail them about like a prehistoric Kermit brings a tear to my hairy eyeball.
I've watched all 37 minutes of this video and still have zero idea what the game looks like because I spent those 37 minutes watching Luke dance with the controls and Ellens hysterical reactions to it.
20:38 I've decided to hear Luke say, "Do I drop down? Do I dare?" as though he's Marius singing an ape version of One Day More from Les Miserables. The chorus responds: 🎶 "The time is now, the day is here" 🎶
want a copy of the video of Luke and Ellen during the gameplay, but without the actual gameplay, Luke's method acting as a human-hating ape and Ellen's reactions to, well, everything are priceless!
If someone doesn't at least hum the Donkey Kong Country theme during this video I'm going to be sorely disappointed. Edit: I trusted you guys and you let me down. The lack of this arbitrary task that makes absolutely no sense makes me unreasonably angry. You will be hearing from my lawyers.
Even more PSVR madness! Luke experiences "full ape immersion" while Ellen does her best to stop laughing. Business as usual on Oxtra, then. Enjoy!
LUKE "why dont i just kill them with my powerful orc arms"
DOB SIMULATOR 2018
confirmed
Does Ellen ever really try not laugh? Not that I'm complaining: it's half the reason I love oxtra after all
Achievement unlocked: Dying Monologue
Now hit the showers Luke you had quite the workout.
It was quite hilarious to see Luke's excitement at the squeegee at first and then the sudden realization and anger that it was a branding iron.
Outside Xtra I can almost see Luke going full-ape after playing this and climbing a tree to get bananas... those sweet sweet bananas.
In Luke's defence, dying while monologuing is something I'd consider very Shakespearean.
Catrin Sara and dying in the tutorial is very gamer
ShAPEspearean 😎

Its brainwash I tell you
Ellen's non-verbal communication is the best thing about this video... and possibly the best thing full stop. Her face went on quite a journey.
Here after the news with Luke leaving. I think this is my favorite video he's in. I love Ellen in this too having the time of her life.
Yeah I keep coming back to the good old times Luke shared with everyone here. It's so bittersweet
I love Ellen's constant side eyeing the camera because she knows Luke can't see it
Luke flinging his gun across the room is the best part of the video by far.
I love Ellens stare into the camera as to say “this is not an act. He’s really like this when he plays games!”
The one Hazmat guy: Ever notice how it is raining apes into this area?
Guard: Yeah, weird isn't it?
23:49 - The way the guard's grunt syncs up perfectly with Ellen leaning away from Luke's punch is my new favorite thing
Ellen's expressions as Luke gets more and more into character... I would be worried, too ^^'

I want a compilation of all the presh mems we've had on Outside Xtra over the years. Ah, the good ol days
"Why don't i just kill them with my strong orc arms?" The two realities are bleeding into one. When Luke is ultimately completely consumed during this play-through he will be a hybrid of both Ape and Dob. It was good to know you...human Luke Westaway.
Jasper Zanovich And probably half Thor Odinson. His proficiency with Thunderwave definitely gives it away.
Half-Orc, half-Ape, half-Thor, and also half-Hulk, with the mind of Human Luke Westaway. Kind of explains everything. The thunder, the strength, the dashing good looks, the skin, the agility, and the wittiness.

Jocose Sonata And let us not forget 100% badass
Of course! How could I forget? All those halves results in a full badass bard.
5:46
Luke was actually able to flip off a character in a game, and send Ellen over the edge!
Ellen’s joy is always infectious.
From now on I’m officially singing “Aapppeeee Macarena” at every party 🦍 thanks Luke 😂
The moment Luke swore at the humans with a hand gesture had me breaking down.
Ellen and Luke just made me realize that I can laugh over my laughter when Luke flipped the guard off and Ellen started laughing. You cannot get this entertainment anywhere else folks 😂😂
“As long as it has long powerful arms, that’s all I look for” well now I want to see Luke in a T-Rex VR simulator
A t-rex's arms are very powerful, they're just really short relative to it's size
And this is the moment Luke decided he wanted to live as an ape for the rest of this life, however he realised it was too tiring and went back to making OXtra videos with Ellen
Luke and Ellen are probably the most loveable duo in human history
Gotta hand it to Luke and Ellen, this was really gripping gameplay
Chris G it was a real hands on experience!
I lost my collective shit when Luke flipped off the guard
I was just waiting for Luke to start singing 'I wanna be like you' and it wasn't even two minutes in before he did.
Glad it wasn't just me. ^_^
Ellen is just pure gold. :D
Watching this, I’m now imagining an ape walking around speaking fluent English in Luke’s voice.
I’m starting to think Luke may be more ape than human after this immersive experience
I love how it takes Ellen a full second to realise Luke almost punched her at 23:44, clearly Luke has been dulling her senses so his Predator self can strike at any time.
mirror's edge still has the most tension-inducing fall animation i've ever seen
Luke playing a VR ape is exactly how I imagine he dances. Exactly. It's adorable.
One of my favorite videos ever. I love Luke and Ellen's friendship.
I love how Ellen just looks at the camera as though she is on an episode of The Office
Luke Ape noises 10/10
So much of this can be clipped to embarrass Luke for years to come and I love it. I will be watching this a lot when I am down to cheer me up
Luke's yelp review of falling: "Not good"
One star MAYBE Two
I'd watch Luke review things. Probably would turn out better than Andy reviewing paintings in horror games.
I love this. I live for seeing Luke pawing about happy as a clam (and then listlessly in dead exhaustion) in VR while Ellen stares amusedly into the camera like Jim Halpert from The Office, haha. :D
Ellen, I swear you're my bloody spirit animal. XD Lolling so hard at your reactions to Luke's lunacy.
This is still one of my favourite OXTRA videos of all time, so many presh mems were created in this one.
Luke: "It's me, an intelligent ape !"
Ellen, in her mind: *quit monkeying around and play the game*
“Ok, into This ape hole.” Luke says as he unintentionally is looking down into Ellen’s lap. Haha, oh dear.
I always wondered what was in that ape hole? Thanks for showing us the way, Luke
Is that Luke Westaway or Andy Serkis? It's so hard to tell!
I mean apart from the horrifying arm movements, the macarena, and flinging the gun across the room, they're practically identical!
We all need a friend like Ellen who looks concerned whenever we play a VR game but laughs every time we get to into it
Ellen's faces are by far the highest point in this video
We need a soundboard of Ellen laughing to make every game better
Proof that Luke and I are the same person. When approached by an army scientist who will probably dissect us, both of our first thought were "I should do the Macarena."
When Luke flung that gun onto the top shelf I died😂😂. Great vid!!
And here's a joke just for Mike:
What do you call an exploding ape? A baboom.
The makers of Ape Escape have really taken this whole 'gritty reboot' thing a bit far, don't you think?
"you're getting a good work out here Luke"... He's sitting down, moving his arms. That would be a good workout if he was 90 years old or weighed 400 pounds, haha
I can’t stop laughing at this, I always knew Luke made for a better ape
Ellen is so aware of the camera. Much more than other members of the team in videos like this.
5:45 That was unexpected and brilliant. Even Ellen lost it there. Also, someone had to program that gesture in. Clever developers xD
hahaha i could watch luke fall and Ellen's reaction all day lol. never had more fun watching someone play a game as opposed to playing one myself
First time out of the tutorial and luke flips off the army... clever ape
Video didnt end with Luke shouting "I love you Dr Zaius" and im disapointed
Luke's role playing as an ape who is oddly sensitive to whatever is in those tranquilizer darts is second to none!
Maybe the reason Luke couldn't hold on was because the guards suspected escaped and made yellow pipes out of butter
"now I'm in ape heaven. It's all dark"
I'm not sure that's ape *heaven*, Luke
Omg, Luke playing this primate character is exactly me trying to irl as a human.
When Ellen's leaning forward the O in OX looks like an earring. She should get a pair of OX purple earrings!
Luke: Does the macarena
NPC: "What a stupid ape."
We have to accept the fact that Luke can become almost anything now. An ape, Donald Duck, Senu, he's got it all!
Ellen's facial expressions and laughs over Luke's immersion are the best! Please, keep doing more of these.
Ellen kind of feels like Jim from The office, with her constant camera stares.
Even after watching it about a dozen times, this still has me in stitches. Comedy gold ... or should I say apecellent 😂😭😂👏🏼
Still one of my favorite early outside xtra let's plays! So many hilarious moments!
Haha this is the best XD the: why is this an option in de game!!! Made me crack up so much XD
Watching Luke flounder... er...triumph over the great escAPE has been one of the best things I've seen in a while. Vr Luke is my new favorite Luke.
Ahh this was so good guys! Ellen, your expressions were priceless😂
4:00 "It's good to be an ape... being an ape is pure bliss."
20:00 "Now I see why the apes are so angry! I never thought that swinging around like an ape would be more annoying than walking."
You have to watch these twice, once to see the game and once to watch Ellen’s priceless expressions
Didn't know this video existed before the presh mems video. I'm so glad I now know.
I think Luke just likes things with powerful arms
I apparently completely missed this when it first went up and only learned about it from the 2018 presh mems video...
Ellen's laugh, especially in situations like this, is the absolute best. That said, every time I watch one of these OX VR videos, I'm always worried someone is going to get punched in the face or felt up
Ellen you deserve a medal for keeping it together as well as you did
VR ape arms are basically my Actual Reality human man person arms. Seeing Luke flail them about like a prehistoric Kermit brings a tear to my hairy eyeball.
I had to keep rewinding because I was too immersed in the ape play that I didn't see Luke's amazing miming and Ellen's reactions.
Can we have a clip of Luke falling and going “aaaaaahhhhhh” in every video from now on?
Ellen’s laughter at Luke’s failure in this vid is pure joy 😄
"Luke's Ape Escape" and not "Luke's Apescape"? You're slipping guys need to keep Andy booing
Ape Escape is a great game
Max Littlewood he won't shut up about it I'm in the Mojave and can still hear him booing...
Max Littlewood it's a reference to a video game
Once VR fully incorporates the legs into their games you never have to worry about skipping leg day again!
I've watched all 37 minutes of this video and still have zero idea what the game looks like because I spent those 37 minutes watching Luke dance with the controls and Ellens hysterical reactions to it.
Was feeling a bit down today, but Ellen's laugh fixed that right up! You two are amazing, keep it up :D
25:45 is pure comedic gold.
'before I'm completely humiliated'
*woosh* *bonk*
20:38 I've decided to hear Luke say, "Do I drop down? Do I dare?" as though he's Marius singing an ape version of One Day More from Les Miserables. The chorus responds: 🎶 "The time is now, the day is here" 🎶
Love this format is just one person being an idiot and the other just officeitting it to the camera
I felt comforted by all of Ellen's laughing.
"stupid humans" - Luke 2018. Uhhhh is his programming off again?
Caitlin RC Jane's designs always have a few kinks to them. Oh well, off to the incinerator with Luke #39!
That’s funny. I always thought that ‘stupid humans’ was Jane’s line and that Luke was such a nice boy... ape... orc...
INCINERATE!
I always thought Jane's been secretly mentoring him.
This is like watching The Office. Luke is Dwight, and Ellen is Jim/Pam looking at the camera knowingly whenever Luke does something ridiculous.
Impressed by Ellen's cat-like reflexes when Luke almost punched her, barely a second passed before she reacted.
Ellen's expressions and giggles make the video for me. also luke's top-notch ape impressions. cheers for this
want a copy of the video of Luke and Ellen during the gameplay, but without the actual gameplay, Luke's method acting as a human-hating ape and Ellen's reactions to, well, everything are priceless!
You remember when they did those Show of the Weekends where Andy became one with the snow? I feel like we're witnessing something similar.
Where is Bud Fensler when you need him?
Sovash Chettydude get on my 64th platform im playing the 24 hr loop in a background tab
I'm so upset I could throw a barrel
Excellent, I do enjoy these episodes of "Luke wanted to put another VR game on his tax return"
Don't you all think it's bananas how apecellent this game is?
I guess you could call it a 'Simian Simulator'
I think it's more of a "Falling To Your Death" simulator.
Sim sim for short
Dammit Sim Sim!
"Shakespearean" say's Luke as he shuffle's off his mortal coil.
This has probably been the most enjoyable VR play through video to watch ever. Luke make me hate human, human bad ape good! Hail Caesar!!!
One of the most absolute best Luke and Ellen video.Comedy gold!!!
