Young father battling pancreatic cancer is resting when Secret Santa's elves come to his door

The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local Secret Santa give $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season.
Oscar was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer in February. Since then, the cancer has metastasized and spread to his sternum, ribs and lower spine. He goes to chemo every week and has multiple doctor appointments a month - some of which are in Salt Lake.
Oscar lives in American Falls and has to drive to Pocatello or Salt Lake for all of his appointments. He has been unable to work since late February, making his wife and mother of their children the only source of income. They have tried several different types of chemo on Oscar, none of which have worked, and right now he is trying to get accepted into a clinical trial in Salt Lake.
Doctors do not know what the outcome will be for Oscar and although his family is hoping for the best, they are also preparing for the worst.
"My dad has stayed as positive as can be expected throughout the process and we have all been able to lean on each other," his son wrote to Secret Santa. "We are hoping to get my dad to see his mom and siblings soon and go back to his hometown one last time. He has not been home in over 15 years and he has not seen his mom for over 10 years."

My father had pancreatic cancer and the outcome, unfortunately, is rarely positive but God the Father can and does perform miracles and we all need to pray for him and this family🙏🙏🙏🙏
I wish him well but the plain truth of the matter is, if they have caught it early enough, he has a chance. If not, his outlook is not good. No one else bar the medical profession and his attitude has any influence over his future, least of all, a deity that may or may not exist....but whatever floats your boat I suppose. Pray away.
@stevemurrell6167 the thing with that though it's so hard to catch early because there's no signs at all and by the time aby symptoms appear it's already spread which is why it's the worst cancer out there

It's 5:20 am here and I'm crying too , also a Canadian.
My wife of 44 years passed away in April 2019 of pancreatic cancer. She was diagnosed in December 2018. I hope he has a peaceful life until the Angels come to call. Hope god is merciful.

I so wish they did an international secret Santa one year. My daughter has acute leukaemia and has been battling it for the past year and it is soul destroying seeing her go through so much. We do have charities such as The Teenage Cancer Trust who has been a big help as has Young lives versus cancer but my husband has been unable to work this past year due to our daughter either being in hospital as inpatient for over four months including two episodes of sepsis and then daily visits for chemo and he has become her primary carer as I am in a wheelchair so cannot be there as much as I want to be, I do all of the cooking and sorting medications and emotional support but practical things my husband has to provide the help. Anyhow I am really glad this secret Santa exists and that the people in Idaho are getting the help. They all seem like lovely people in Idaho and God bless to everybody who is going though a tough time right now.

My dearest friend passed away from pancreatic cancer. She tried very hard to survive long enough to watch her son graduate from high school but sadly she did not make it. PC is a formidable opponent. Not long after my friend passed away the priest at our church also died from pancreatic cancer. I hope a cure can be found soon.

What a wonderful person you are Secret Santa! Sometimes people on cancer treatment can't think straight because of the side-effects so it didn't mean that he didn't appreciate these gifts. I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my mother to breast cancer on 2/23/22 and my father passed on 12/5/22 from pancreatic cancer. My youngest sister is currently battling multiple myeloma. Five months after Mom died, my father was diagnosed with cancer. Two months after my dad was diagnosed, we had gotten the news my youngest sister had cancer. God never said life was going to be easy. We have to trust and have faith in God. One day, we will see our departed family in Heaven. May God bless you and your family. I understand the hardship that cancer inflicts on a family both physically and financially. My husband was also diagnosed with cancer but sadly lost his battle to it.

My aunt found out she had pancreatic cancer, 3 weeks later she passed. A good friend found out on a Friday that she had pancreatic cancer on Monday she passed. I hope they find a cure for all forms of cancer.

My sweet little sister 57 passed away after fighting 2 1/2 yrs it was an up and down roller coaster of surgeries, and procedures, chemo, and radiation. She was so brave and strong the up and and won was hard “ we got it all” “ it’s back” “you’re clear” “ sorry it’s back”

My grandma was diagnosed 2 days before she passed from this. We held off from telling her because that was her #1 fear of dying of. I hope he gets to see his family soon.
Theres truth in that; sometimes hearing the word has a more devastating effect than the actual illness. In England they didn't tell you they told the family and they decided whether or not to tell the person - they may still do that I don't know.
