Haydn Divertimento with Hamilton Cheifetz, from Palo Alto

A story: When I was 18 years old, having studied for 2 1/2 years with my beloved teacher and second father, Janos Starker, I returned to Chicago and began getting work as a cellist. Shortly after that, I was asked to play a recital in Madison, Wisconsin, and I learned a program on my own, with no instruction, and it was a wonderfully liberating experience. One of the pieces I learned was this beautiful Divertimento by Haydn, arranged by Piatigorsky. Starker loved the piece, but he used to say that it was actually 30% Haydn and 70% Piatigorsky, or something to that effect. It will always occupy a very special place in my heart.
