Seahorse Seashell Party is one of the worst Family guy episodes in the history of the show. Dial Meg for Murder is a billion times better. In Seahorse Seashell party she insults them then she immediately backtracks and says that she needs to be abused for them to be happy. Meg being abused is just slapstick and black comedy them trying to make the ending "heartwarming" was awful. Thats not to say stan is perfect but as far as cartoon dads go he’s one of the better ones, certainly better than Peter Griffin, but his family frequently defies and fights him in ways that Stan doesn’t deserve. In one final show of what a generally good guy stan is, its clear that without Roger he was bottling it all up. If Roger hadn’t been there it would have just delayed the inevitable.

He works his ass off; even if the central point of the show ignores that he does work for the government in favor of joking around. For about as long as the show’s run, he’s done nothing but make everything available and affordable for his family. He’s: Paid for the house to be repaired, remodeled, and/or replaced multiple times; he provides money for meals at least to allow for the standard if not better; Family trips and vacations that would otherwise be unaffordable for the standard family despite hijinks; Enables Haley to be the stoner dependent she is because he loves her so much that he can’t seem to bear the idea of actually abandoning her to her own devices; has on numerous occasions tried to help Steve with his personal problems and hyper sexuality, despite discomfort or clear gaps in knowledge, be it generational or personal; and Francine who he’s all but allowed her to be whatever she wants, (from stay at home mom to any job she’s interested in), along with her unhealthy alcohol problem; Claus who’s quite literally only there because Stan hasn’t had the will to kill him even though he could have long ago, and is a massive little shit when he wants to be; all whilst harboring an Illegal Alien from space who makes everything twice as expensive, acts spoilt, and is generally a pain in the ass; all made possible by doing a dangerous agent and officer job at the CIA (which is an extremely high stress industry) which could undo all his hard work in a couple days if caught by the wrong people. He is, quite literally, super dad. And while the brainwashing is bullshit on his part, and wrong, it is a response all his training and perfectionism would go to considering what he is. He just wanted ONE day where they’d get together and treat him nicely, where it wasn’t a family wide thing like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or some other major holiday. Just something simple like a card and hugs probably would have made his day. He’s: Paid for the house to be repaired, remodeled, and/or replaced multiple times; he provides money for meals at least to allow for the standard if not better; Family trips and vacations that would otherwise be unaffordable for the standard family despite hijinks; Enables Haley to be the stoner dependent she is because he loves her so much that he can’t seem to bear the idea of actually abandoning her to her own devices; has on numerous occasions tried to help Steve with his personal problems and hyper sexuality, despite discomfort or clear gaps in knowledge, be it generational or personal; and Francine who he’s all but allowed her to be whatever she wants, (from stay at home mom to any job she’s interested in), along with her unhealthy alcohol problem; Claus who’s quite literally only there because Stan hasn’t had the will to kill him even though he could have long ago, and is a massive little shit when he wants to be; all whilst harboring an Illegal Alien from space who makes everything twice as expensive, acts spoilt, and is generally a pain in the ass; all made possible by doing a dangerous agent and officer job at the CIA (which is an extremely high stress industry) which could undo all his hard work in a couple days if caught by the wrong people.
He is, quite literally, super dad. And while the brainwashing is bullshit on his part, and wrong, it is a response all his training and perfectionism would go to considering what he is. He just wanted ONE day where they’d get together and treat him nicely, where it wasn’t a family wide thing like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or some other major holiday. Just something simple like a card and hugs probably would have made his day.
Mind you, he’s in his own league of fucked with the amount of trauma and general fuckery he’s put them through, but this is hardly his first run at brainwashing; considering Haley once was set to be a hyper effective killer. So, by all means, he has the ability.
How blind do you have to be NOT to expect this from him at some point? He’s a couple inches from snapping as it was, this is tame.
