As for the armor, this is just bringing us back to the days of when we had to constantly switch out our clothing sets to go into the different biomes based on if we needed to be warm or to stay cool , which they changed it up to add the possible heat and cold resists to each clothing item so we no longer needed to do that, well now we will have to do this all over again based on if we want full sets, constantly having to switch back and forth for certain things. Seems like it will end with more a hassle than anything
It is kind of amusing, as I remember those days. Then they removed it, or rather lessened it even though it's realistic to need to change clothes, it's just super annoying having to.
I like the way they look, but I don't think I'm going to like constantly switching outfits for every little thing. It's not going to feel good forgetting to switch to the farming outfit after having just harvested some crops and realizing how much you missed out on.
Yes. If we can have multiple outfits stored up MAYBE... or a quick-switch mannequin in base, but ... otherwise it'll be tedious.
I can already see myself completely ignoring any bonuses and buffs and just mix and wear what I fancy. 😂
Screw that.
Haha maybe! I think for some specific occasions I need it I'd focus on bonuses, but then have what I thought was cool for the rest of the time. Ie, switch into XP/trap/nerdy for blood moon horde at the horde base for instance.
I'm definitely mix and matching, i chose cosmetic over functionality
Likely the same! Except for specific reasons, such if I go mining for an hour while watching netflix ;) Or a horde night. I want an armour stand or multiple-outfit switch capability.
Armor stand would be nice
I like the idea of the set bonuses, but would have rather seen them as a series of mods, then have each armor piece have a single set mod slot, like dye slots are now.
Yep! I'd prefer mods too!
I just think bonuses on outfits won't mean I'll keep swapping them one settled. Where do they think we're going to store all these outfit changes? Early on, if I wear the lumberjack one, get all the local trees, then go elsewhere where there's more trees, I could then die because despite the extra resources I might get, because I'm weaker against zombies then if I had decent armour.
Oh, and Vedui42 said what I thought near the end of the video whilst I was typing the above! Oh well, I can't see outfits being used and changed regularly.
this is exactly what i was thinking, am i supposed to carry around 4 different outfits for specific occasions because all these outfits serve hyper specific purposes
Interestingly in their new roadmap, they have a Wardrobe system planned. I suspect it's to manage mods/cosmetics, and hopefully quick-switching.
TFP's seem to have forgotten that iron and steel existed long before modern day manufacturing methods. Blacksmiths created armor from leather, iron, steel, and other materials, like linen, or cotton.
I do wish they added a bit more realism, such as more detailed animations for when things are being made. Even an animation for upgrading, which should be tearing the old block apart to a frame, then adding the new material, with a recovery of a percentage of the materials used on the previous iteration.
That would slow building down, of course, but it would be more realistic.
As we get the outfits, I realize that things are going to change again. Great.
We used to have upgrading. Do you remember the old cobblestone blocks? Where you put the frame, then slowly filled with cobblestones, then got the finished block? As to building, I'm getting more and more to be a fan of 100 % return/moving blocks for ease of building. So that I can put down a building.. then decide to change it and not need to spend hours dismantling concrete/steel just to shift a wall a few meters.
Most players are not going to swap armor constantly, they will just wear what they think looks good and use it for everything.
Probably yes. I rarely swapped before either, nerdy glasses on always.
Hopefully the next step will armor appearance mods. I play on a server that has these, so you can change your armor to look like whatever you want- for example- steel boots to look like Gothic Boots. WoW was like this - tanking set, healing set, dps set, etc. Pain in the ass.
Actually that would be nice yes. I wonder if mods (modded in) could affect the visual change of different armor just through adding a mod.
a quick changing wardrobe or something like that would be nice. or an armor stand so we can quickly choose what to wear for the day.
Yeah! I think that would go a long way actually.
I think I'll be modding these outfits to give me all bonuses no matter what I wear.
That way I can wear whatever I like.
NEEEEEED a management system for outfits and even a second outfit tab to switch quickly would be nice.
One should be able to mod the bonuses into actual mods I suspect.
The nerd outfit is fire. The stats/bonuses are amazing, intellect builds for days. Try not to take the outfit so serious, let the devs have fun and creative ideas too.
It's looking to have good bonuses yes. It's just that it breaks with the "seriousness" of the other outfits. If it was put in with some weird crazy (but not normal or good) bonuses for the fun of it sure. But now it's just jarring :)
What a mess. They conceived of this armor mechanic BEFORE the made a bunch of changes to farming, stamina, mining, crafting, and added the "learn by looting" magazines. So now, all the "perks/bonuses" any of these armor sets provide aren't even compatible with the current build of the mechanics in the game. They are 100% doubling down on trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. This game is NOT 'The Division'. Dev's are so arrogantly out of touch with what this game is and how the players actually play it. And I say all that out of tremendous amounts of love for the game we currently have. I understand the need to rework the armor mechanics, but this concept doesn't fit this game. They really should've approached the community for ideas on this years ago.
I think they keep making stupid changes that force them to rework the game over and over cause they just don't know how to finish the game. all they needed to do was add bandits and a simple main quest line with maybe a little lore and be done with the game. then start a sequel or similar game and they could work out all these stupid or crazy ideas they have.
How the F are you telling us that the devs are arrogant? They arent charging you additional shit for the update. And this game isnt competitive and such. You can play this game, quit for a year, comeback without any repurcussion. So why the arrogant?
@@joshuamagsino8450 They handle feedback from the community with arrogance. If you haven't been privy to their communication with the player base over the span of the games development, then it will seem like a baseless accusation. All of the dev streams are publicly available through youtube & twitch, and there's also the forums, if you want to see for yourself. There's a long history.
What the fun pimps do hardly matters at this point, mods improve the game substantially. Even if a22 fixed everything the community is unhappy about I would still only play undead legacy. A21 uses the learn by looting system but undead legacy is still learn by doing with all the visual benefits of a21 and empty water bottles. Let the fun pimps do whatever they want, the game is still perfection once all their baggage is modded out. Basically all they are now are unpaid graphic overhaulers for subquake.
The learn by looting magazines are annoying, most modpacks still contain this method because it's difficult overhauling that whole system, if it the base learning were different it would affect all mods for the better.
I'm a modder and I already see myself instantly reverting all the armor changes to A21, the thing where you have to change every armor piece out for every situation is just not well done. I get that this game is very Arcade, but this change from what I've heard will just be annoying. Maybe have the armor as visuals, or give them very slight bonuses, but 20% more xp for wearing the intellect armor for example is way too much!
I've heard many think that there'll be mods that apply the bonuses to..well, armour mods instead of the actual armor. I think that'd be a nice way to resolve it.
@@Vedui42 fair. But honestly you are already pretty overpowered once you get to mid-lategame. Having +20% xp modificators for example, is not very beneficial to overall game ballance. But thats also just my subjective view. We'll have to see how it will tun out.
Imagine how many inventory space gonna take to bring few armors with u to do some exploring, looting and resources gathering in one go😮
Yeah! Or have to pop back home for a costume change!
It's kind of hilarious how far TFP has strayed from their original vision.
It used to be a horde zombie survival game. Where a horde now is 8 zombies, there are zombies I guess, but there're few survival aspects. I would more label it a First Person Zombie Action Looter :)
Im happy the arms will show the armor sets, but my question is .. which was overlooked when I asked this in their live stream for A21, will the arms themselves show the character's skin color? My husband is African American, his character is too, however in first person, no matter the skin color, his arm always shows as white. A serious overlook for this far in the stage of the game if you ask me.
Yes, I believe it'll show the proper view based on your character profile and/or armour worn :)
I keep wanting to say something like "I'll try anything once"... and be open minded.
But Mad Mole's favorite zombie apocalypse outfit being to look like Steve Urkle makes me worry for his mental health. I mean it would suit Joke-mod, or Age of Oblivion ok, but not the core game. And overall, It's difficult to say which alpha (out of 19, 20, and 21) is actually "better". You get nice improvements like Better map gen, graphical improvements, and 1300 block shapes... and then you get other changes like A20 POI's being anti-stealth jump-scare annoyances, dew collectors/no water jars, and learn by magazine... which all detract from the game.
Overall it's a little debatable whether things are improving after A19. I _think_ there's progress, but it's definitely a "5 steps forward, 4 steps back" sort of progress beyond 19. And it's not so much an issue of bad ideas, just questionable implementations. I'm _kinda_ interested in A22, but also _kinda not_ . I would get more hyped if UL for A21 would come out.
Yes I think the overall suits/armor change will be good. It was dated and definitely needed an update. But the nerdy outfit is ... not. It's bad.
I like these new armours, I don't like that they are getting rid of the traditional clothing pieces.
That's a great point. It looks like we'll lose the duster and all of that.
I play with light cloth amor. Because no noise.
I only use cloth, because no noise, far better stamina, and faster movement.
Until... late game (like after day 50). Then I'll choose either military light armor, or steel/swat heavy armor, once i have many mods and perks and such to mitigate the steep penalties.
T1 and T2 light and heavy armors are just cash loot.
5/5 advanced fittings mods, 5/5 advanced muffled connectors, and 4/4 of light or heavy armor perks... makes steel/swat or military armor pretty good. Moreso after reading urban combat book 6. Add the better armor plating mods, and you get a LOT of protection for a minor penalty. Military for stealth, steel/swat for everything else. Even the steel can be better than a lvl 1 in cloth, with full stealth perking.
Also, armor becomes more valuable the closer you get to 100. the difference between 5 and 10 armor is 5% benefit to survival time. The difference between 80 and 85 armor is a 25% difference in survival time. Stack some pain tolerance, etc. and heavy armor can "git gud" ...eventually. But the whole system needs a rebalance, badly.
But early & mid game, it's a terrible trade-off to take on the burden of heavy armor penalties, without tools to mitigate the downsides, and with only "a point" or two of armor benefit. Even light armor sucks above padded cloth tier until late-mid game.
If I had a nickel for every streamer who puts on scrap armor and then gets hit twice as often because they're slow, & complains about their stamina...
Maybe the assassin will have no noise too? :)
I actually appreciate resource farming outfits. Make my life easier just by changing my clothes quick? Sign me up. I don't understand why people dislike it. It would be nice if you could have a couple eq load outs saved, like in Core Keeper.
I think it's because they do not seem necessary. For instance, let's assume you needed special gear to do mining underground. Ie, a heavy powerpack, rebreather, drill etc... then a suit/gear for that makes sense. However for planting or harvesting crops? Any clothes pretty much would work as well. A wasteland armour to avoid radiation would work great in wasteland. A nerdy would work great in a cosplay conference ;)
@@Vedui42, that's the thing, though: They aren't necessary for you to equip if you don't want to equip them. That's actually a good design. Why get upset at options? It's not like they made the mining worse so you _have_ to put on mining gear. You can still go out and mine in whatever clothes you want, but for the players that want to spec for it further, the option is there and it isn't hurting anyone. There's further player agency.
The players that were like, "I don't like it [and it shouldn't be in the game] because I don't want to change my clothes," great! Don't! You don't need to. Having more options that aren't negatively affecting you in any way is a good thing. It really feels like that-not only do people not like change-they also can't control themselves.
Now, if they made harvesting resources much _worse_ to validate their existence, I would have umbrage. Also, I wouldn't be sad to see the nerdy outfit go. That thing is an eyesore and feels like its aesthetics don't fit the game, so a rework would be good. I guess some people might like it, and I have a feeling it will be just _some_ 🤭
@@Vedui42 , idk what happened, but my comment isn't showing up. Sadly, I'll not rewrite all that again. I wonder where it went.
Hey! I saw it! It's showing up for me, at least! Maybe just took a while due to caching? :) For me I like more sets, I just won't use all. It's definitely better than getting nothing new at all :D Just... nerdy doesn't fit. That one they could remove and I'd be fine ;)
@@Vedui42 , hmmmm interesting. It's still not showing up for me. My like, 3 paragraph response is visible to you?
Yeah, definitely better than nothing, for sure. We've needed new outfit models for a long time, and new character models! Finally!
I really hate no 3rd person view when you can custom dress.
I think 3rd person would work well in 7dtd, as it's pve, not pvp
I agree that the nerdy outfit looks stupid. But I'm typically playing the nerd role, so I guess I'll be wearing it.
Yeah, the other outfits seem ok, but that one just isn't realistic :P
A class/background system would have been better.
They have sort of setup a system that doesn't quite allow it. In the end people specialize a bit (ie, fortutide vs agility etc) and then everyone in the end has all skills unlocked anyway.
@@Vedui42 yea fair enough
I’ll never wear the nerd outfit. Everyone will wear the nomad.
I think wasteland looks cool, or scavenger :D
I trust that the modding community will save us from this mess, many of this outfits if not all are not meant for combat, just for other tasks, are the original outfits still be there and this ones will be secondary to the game? like i said I trust modders to save us, just like some did with the magazine debacle.
Not sure, in the past you've hardly (ever?) seen any armor/clothing items from modders. Weapons yes, but not armor/clothing. So I'm not sure whether it's due to lack of interest, or just much harder.
@@Vedui42 well if memory serves, I remember that Kaine made special armor mods in darkness falls, he also made functional the Hazmat suit, then in the Asia mod armor looks as the period, don't remember if the mod author made specific mods as well, most of the changes I see are with vehicles and weapons.
Now that said, going to battle in the farmers or nerdy outfit is going to make a playthrough like an episode of Looney Toons , seriously who would like to be in multiplayer game in those outfits, ight as well make an outfit for female players a Tutu and ballerina pointy shoes.
Love your content keep them coming cheers from Canada.
Hello Nemo! I've definitely seen armor mods, just not special armor. Mods are easy to do as they're not visually represented nor hooked up to character models or animations. I think that's why actual armor/clothing has not been seriously explored by modders, as they're a pain to put in compared to just re-using what's there and making mods that change the bonuses :D Have a great end of Sunday in Canada! :)
Gonna be pissed if iron tanky armor isn't in a22, not that I don't already absolutely hate the armor sets as they are currently looking to be implemented, but still overall this doesn't look great.
It's a bit weird it wasn't mentioned in the list for sure. I don't see why you couldn;t have some generic "leather armor" or "heavy plate armor" as well, since they already have the primitive outfit. Just give it more generic bonuses.
Yeah, I'm not carrying around six different sets of armor.
The roadmap does seem to contain a wardrobe.. maybe a quick select/change?
Im just going to say it damn gamers now a days cry so much. Lets see what and how this all works before needing a hug from a loved one lol. Have a great day everyone.
I think it's less crying, and simply disagreeing and wanting it changed prior to implementation :) It's EA, we're supposed to tell TFP when they're going the wrong direction ;)
@Vedui42 hey man love your videos and i appreciate your response and I'm with you on what your saying. I m struck playing the original console version lol and still love playing it today. And I can't wait for it to finally arrive for us console users cause my PC is no good at running most games today lol. I will say I think one of the problems is the fun pimps have been working on this so long they keep coming up with new stuff which can be great but also deviate from the original plan they might have had. Again sorry for the long post my man keep up the good work
Why thank you! I really do look forward to cross-play, as I'd love to have console players come join me on my community servers finally! :) One day! One day!
i don't know about you but i'll never wear that nerd outfit.
The thing is... let's say you got a fight at your base, blood moon horde is coming. And nerdy gives +15 % xp, +20 % trap damage, +25 % fire rate for junk turrets... or the like. It'd be very tempting to use just for the blood moon.
@@Vedui42 true, but i'm pretty sure we've been playing without those specific benefits for like... what.... 13 years? I'll be fine without that outfit.
Honestly I don't much care what fun pimps does since ill just play the modded game any ways.
Modded rocks!
the nerd shoes should let you run faster too...
Run or skip? ;)
Hi, great informative video as always so thanks for that. And nope HATE them. Sure, commando and wasteland armours look cool but it's four pieces. Not five. So what we are basically naked under our armour now? Breaks immersion(especially that goofy bile-in-a-tumble-dryer looking nerd armour) and still I'm playing the game to craft and survive not put on a fashion show when I go mine or chop wood or fight a horde. What do I look like, Zoolander?? Now I'm scavenging for car parts. Raiders show up and I'm in light armour with no bonuses to weapons... RIP me. Unfortunately I think TFP lost the plot after alpha 20 and now they are just floundering on any idea that jumps in their head. And also with the RNG gods of this game and the learn by reading bs it's just going to be headaches back to front... But that's my two cents. Keep making great vids man.
Yes, some of the outfits (shorts??) make less sense. Who'd go adventuring in shorts.
@@Vedui42 I know right? That's begging for a crawler to mistake your leg for a chicken drumstick... I still would be more open to the armour of the replaced the current clothing system with that. Because then it makes sense. I need wood... I'm a lumberjack so armour up because it's still an apocalypse outside ya know. Cosplay and work specific attire is kinda pre apocalypse schtick🤣
What a pain in the ass. Who has inventory space for carrying extra armor?
I agree. I find it annoying in V1.0
The nerd outfit is frankly ridiculous. I hope it’s a bad joke because the game loses realism with that garbage.
Also, I can’t state that for sure, have to wait the release, but it sure seems they are aiming for less crafting options and itens. It seems the character will lose at least 3 slots since the outfits are also armor.
Yeah it's an oddity, and since it was teased 3.5 years ago, people really didn't like the look.
All i see is tedium in switching armor the way we are already switching glasses.
This houlds just have been skins. that you can slot in like you do with dye's.
Yes. I think that having different armor is cool. But maybe have the bonuses as part of mods.
Boring and unfun mechanic
We'll see how it turns out!
I eagerly look forward to the mods that follow that give us the bonuses to put into what ever armor we want to wear plus the mods that replace armor with better looks.
Yeah :) Maybe modders willsimply pull all bonuses OFF the armor, and put into mods, making it much more flexible.
The problem of having "themed armor" that gives a buff, is problematic, because it turns into a repetitive pattern in multiplayer, everyone will blend and look boring.
They should do something kinda like ark, you can customize your armor with dyes and visual mods, creating a much different scenario, everyone might be wearing the same top tier armor, however you can't tell, because the visual skins make them all look different.
The nerd outfit is disgusting, it looks nothing like something anyone would wear in any apocalypse, it just looks like some crazy dude lol
would you agree that the whole "blend together" aspect applies to alot of the new assets being introduced as well because some of the new weapon models look like they have a very "personalized" design despite being universally available to like 20 different people
I think it's got pros and cons, just ... I'm glad they're doing something, but I do favor games where I can look teh way I want, without it hugely impacting my gameplay for NOT looking the way THEY want me to. If I wanna have a cowbow hat or a beanie instead of a baseball cap, I think that should't "break" a set and make me lose bonuses, for instance :)
I think all these changes are best for the game!
You love the nerdy look? :D
I don't think I like this. I feel like it inhibits versatility and I don't want to have to change my outfit depending on my planned task...
Depending on how the bonuses work, definitely.
Have to see how it really works out, since TFP are so bad at actually explaining things inside their heads. That said, if they are trying to have us carry around multiple sets of armor like 7d2d is suddenly a MMO... well, the wanning interested in the game will probably plummet to only the white knights and a few select CCs. There are other survival games that are in a better state and with Devs that actually listen to their player base these days...
Yeah plenty of survival games out there, I'm having tonnes of fun playing many many more.
I hate this outfit idea with a passion. We all know the ability of the devs to f thing up. Oh boy, I want to be wrong.
I HOPE it plays well!
