Why do soo many anglers ignore subtle patterns?? One tip when needing to slick back fibres, be they marabou, fur, or hackle, I use a section of cut from a washing up sponge place it into a small container be it a lid from a spray can, plastic, glass or ceramic. With a small amount of water in the base to dampen the sponge. Then lightly press the sponge to dampen your fingers. This is an old trick used in banks and pay offices when checking large amounts of notes, a bankers sponge as used for hundreds of years. It also works when picking up a single feather a length of tinsel or wire up from the bench or when threading a bobbin. Water will unlike saliva not gum up the bobbin tube as there is zero oil, or grease in water. When done you just pull out the sponge give it a squeeze and empty the container if you are not using it for a few days or if it part of a mobile setup.
