- Since I have so much to say about how Netflix portrayed the characters of Avatar the Last Airbender, I made another separate video explaining how they got everyone wrong! To be honest, I still have so much to say but this is good for now.

You didn’t talk about my favorite change… Mai and Ty Lee just there, standing. Not moving a single time 😂
HAHAHA FR 😂😬 they should’ve saved them for the next season 😅
It's truly amazing how they messed up so much of the most basic story telling in the show.
Right?? It’s so frustrating 😭
They found the real life Sokka and cut off his wolf tail
FR 😮💨
Great analysis. You're one of the few people who seems to actually really 'get' the original characters. I've seen wayyyy too many people praising this version of Kyoshi, for example.
Aww thank you for saying this 🥹 well, I have watched the original countless times 😂
Fun fact. Making something(weather it's a movie, tv show, animation program, video game or comic book)that's quote on quote "mature" and that it's aimed at a more mature older audience(teenagers and adults), does not automatically mean the content that's made for teens and adults is going to be great or smart or worth watching. Like "mature", "dark" and "gritty" are things that are not even required to produce something successful or amazing. And mature themes does not automatically equals "smart writing" or being "adult" only or "inappropriate" for children under age of 13.
Netflix's live action Avatar the last airbender, Zack Snyder's DC movies, Rebel Moon, Netflix's He-man and the master of the universe revelations and Netflix's Transformers WFC Trilogy are proof that shows or movies that are meant to be very mature and dark and that the target audience are more for a mature older audience... will not automatically make them inherently great if the qualities of them are done poorly. Now look, the examples I listed of movies and shows that are for older audiences, they aren't bad just because they are targeting at a older demographic or that they are dark and mature, but because of how poorly made they were. Those could have been good and successful, but because they have such poor direction, bad writing, lack of originality, low quality storytelling, bad acting, poor written scripts, bland characters and more things that are required for making a movie or show.
So once again, animation programs, tv shows, movies or even video games that are made primarily for kids does not mean it's bad, just means it's made to be suitable and enjoyable for younger viewers in mind. And I'm so thankful that the original avatar the last airbender cartoon that aired on nickelodeon recognises the fact that just because something is made to be for kids does not automatically mean the quality of it's content is inherently bad, the original series definitely was successful for kids while also being successful for the whole family of all ages(shows and movies that are primarily for kids are also usually made to be appealing to family all ages since parents would sometimes be interested in watching something with their kids).
Oh and Netflix's live action Avatar definitely gave me the vibes of "I'm too insecure that I was a show made to be kid-friendly for younger audience under the age of 13 and I want to be taken very mature, serious, dark and gritty".
Exactly! 💯 Netflix's like, "Let's add blood and on screen deaths so that the audience would think this show is more mature than the original. Never mind a good story. Let's just make it dark and gritty." 🫠💀
One of the only positive things the live action brought was more people learning of the show but they don’t actually watch the better original avatar which sucks, so as a hardcore avatar fan I always encourage people to watch the cartoon version (so far I got 1 person to watch it and they loved it)
YAAS! I FINALLY GOT MY MOM TO WATCH THE ANIMATED SHOW!! I’ve been trying for years and it’s actually through the live action that I finally convinced her to watch! And she loved it too! 😚
They messed up so much stuff .
I had to agree with you
I personally despised the Live Action Bumi. In the Cartoon- **Hey I recognize that guy, lets have some fun and see if he can figure out who I am** Bumi- "Aang there will be times that you come across a problem without a clear answer. But if you are willing to look at it with a new perspective you might just be able to see a solution." Live action Bumi- "Hi Aang, Haha rock candy... WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN???" Pulling from the Ember island episode, The original characters started as rough rocks (flawed) that smoothed out over time. The live action almost seemed afraid to have flawed characters so made them too smooth right off the bat. When a character has no flaws at the start of the story there is nothing for them to overcome and their "achievements" feal flat and unearned.
EXACTLY! 💯 The characters in the live-action seemed to have no flaws hence no or little growth as well 😩😭
Obviously they didn't make Sokka sexist. These days you get canceled for stuff like that. In fact I'm suprised that they didn't make uncle Iroh a black lesbian
Tell me about it 🥲 HAHA we would riot! 🤣
Yep 100% on point
I hope they don't ruin Toph as well 😤🥲
@@zidneyuOh, they will.
@@maelxidel8979 i could already see it. Netflix’s already looking for someone to cast Toph so let’s see how they’ll ruin her 😬
@@zidneyu I could be wrong of course, and hope I am, but season 2 is going to be a DISASTER. Because if they couldn’t figure Book 1 out with an 8 episode runtime (arguably the easiest book to adapt) I can’t imagine what abomination they’ll come up with next.
@@maelxidel8979 oh yeah, that’s for sure 😭 guess we’ll just wait and see 😓
I think i sense a slight Filipino account, are you Filipino?
Yess!! Filipino Chinese actually haha but yes, Filipino :)
@zidneyu Im FilAm and I could tell from the boxing class.. definitely filipino. Also when u said Tree instead of three. I had that accent when I was young.
@@dametreusv haha! I’m Filipino-Chinese :)) but living here in the PH haha
@@zidneyu oh cool. what part? My family and fiance are in Angeles, Pampanga.
@@dametreusv ooh NICE! Just the very busy city of Manila!! 😆
they got the looks of katara smack on like there both beutifull but there personality netflix ruined katara
Fr!! A lot of the actors are on point physically so it's a shame that their personalities are ??? 😬☹
Adaptation is not 1 to 1 remake of the animation, even kids know this. Can you make 20 episodes to 8 episodes and not change anything?
criticizing is very easy, everyone can do it. Why not compare with Avatar 2010?
Yes yes, I know! :)) I mentioned it in my video that I'm not expecting a 1 to 1 copy of the original.
I actually made a video about the changes that I liked, you should check it out: ua-cam.com/video/9TBzDQnfknc/v-deo.htmlsi=V6bKdHyiPmrIn7ky
Oh, we don't talk about that movie 😅😆
Totally disagree with ALMOST everything you said. Thank God season 2 and season 3 is coming. It was a fun ride and it will be even better moving forward.
So many angry nerds that need to touch grass. An adaptation doesn’t have to be a 100% carbon copy. And so many people expecting real actors to be as expressive as an animated character like lmao, that’s not even possible .
Nah that’s not it, it’s actually bad and it’s not just “nerds” that think that either
@@alecjoncas7764 tru :(
Being an Adaptation does not justify bad writing
And thats why the adaptation was always goong to be subpar imho. And really doesnt do mich to justify it's own existence.
@@bigkirbyhj666 I'm really HOPING they do better in the next seasons :( or at least justify the show's existence 😅
