Thanks for all the suggestions, but I'm not sure taking a saw to a table on a motorhome that's still under warranty is going to happen. Not with my failed CSE in woodworking!
There's only one answer to your small problem. It's hand in your pocket and buy a small one. 😕🏧👍

Just had to watch your video Bob. Hate is a very strong word!! Our van is only a 2 berth and 6 metres and our table is quite large but it folds away very easily into the wardrobe. We don't use it too often but if it's just something quick we've got a small table we bought from Ebay for around £14, it's about twice the size of a laptop, weighs next to nothing and it folds away extremely quickly and is stored behind the drivers seat. I'm pleased to say there's nothing we 'hate' about our van!
It’s funny reading the replies we seem to have the same dislikes. When we brought our first Motorhome the fixed table proved to be our biggest headache. So when we decided to it was time for a change, speccing up our new Motorhome we were charged for deleting the table? We brought a fold away table which travels in the locker underneath, when on site and not being used sits behind the passenger seat up against the dashboard. I must say I’d struggle to find 5 dislikes! Love the videos looking forward to finding more of them👍
Cut a broomstick in half and use them as supports for the seats.
Leave the big heavy table at home and get a cheap, smaller, very light picnic table for £20
We discounted lots of motorhomes because of the table, so many are unmovable, and have huge great pedestal, taking up the whole living area. We like the one in our Bessacarr, as we can just take it off the rail and store it, when travelling, but would like a smaller one for if we just want a morning coffee. Thanks for being honest and sharing. 😃
Thanks, we had the same table in our Bolero, but I found I couldn't get in the travel seats easily with the table in place, so didn't tend to use the travel seats at all. Also we felt trapped in those travel seats if anyone else came to visit!
Hi Bob and Jenny. We have a similar problem with the struts on our island bed. We have an odd year number (2017), perhaps the even number years get the powerful struts... Thanks for sharing, enjoyed watching as always, Pete & Kaz 😀😀😀😀😀

Just had our first weekend in our new 574 and agree with all your comments. Never really noticed when we were buying it!! Would add one more.. the aqua roll wont fit under either bed. Outside aperture not big enough and inside the beds wont lift up high enough!! We don't really want it rolling around in the shower. When we had a caravan we just put it in the car boot. Bought an oblong water container that will fit under the beds! Great comments you Guys..
We keep the Aquaroll under the front driver's side sofa.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Good idea.. but unfortunately we bought the 574 with the two travel seats. Not a lot of room under either of our seats. A 25 litre water container does the job. Many thanks for your advise it's well received as always. Enjoy Devon and Hampshire.

Great video, don't think we hate anything about our van, maybe a few dislikes or "could have done better", but if you were talking about our first van, I could have wrote a book LOL.

Agree with the table issue! Ours weighed a ton and was stored under the double bed.
So it was a nightmare to try to get it out...it's not something you can do alone. Meals on laps far easier
Hi guys, a solution for the bed, you could design a bonnet stay system . Table, cut one side of the table and fit two spring loaded hinges so you can fold it. .... Great video 👍

Very interesting video Bob and Jenny, and funny how you and Poshcats both picked out the sink! When you look at some of these things it does make you think what was going through the mind of the person designing them 🤣 mind you I’m sure there are far more positives!
Oh, yes, many more positives and nothing we really hate, well perhaps that table....
Hi Bob, If you need a smaller table look at the tables in compact coach built such as the Eldiss 120/115. I'm sure that you could fined a table in an other make of motorhome the size you like.
That table is an easy fix, just buy a roll of the edging material and cut an inch and a half off of the table all the way round, Any DIY Dad who knows his tools can do it in about an hour, It's an easy fix and the table will be a bit lighter for you both to move around, Hope that helps.

@@BobEarnshawMoHo Well if it is still under warranty then take it back to them and ask them to cut an inch and a half all the way round off of it because if they made it so any work done by them would not effect the warranty and they would also have the correct matching edging material, They made the camper so it would make sense to get them to do it, Giving them the chance to put is right will be one thing less you dislike about the overall set up and gives them and their products the chance to be seen in a better light,
Funny how we picked the sink in our Motorhomes. We lay the shelf in the bottom of two of our cupboards to make them taller and then we know where the shelf is if we need it. Sounds like you have solutions to the other issues. Perhaps a carpenter could make a table the right size and shape as you can buy the legs separately. Like us, they are niggles rather than hates 😃 Trev n Sue

Swift penny pinching on the table. One size fits all as we have the same in our caravan and it lives in our garage.
Weight v Use totally agree. Leave mine at Home, unless expect visitors.
You should be able to change the gas struts for some with a higher rating. Hopefully a straight swap.
Hi Bob, great video. Those gas struts can be brought online. There should be a code and a newton number on them. Buy and fit a stronger pair and do as you said and have a strong and a weak one.
easy table solution.. buy an island leg and buy a large kitchen cabinate door. For the bed just have a prop.
I agree with the table issue as we have a similar layout. Do you have the fold out leg heavy table. We have started to lift one set of legs over the front seats so one end of the table is right up against the dash giving extra space in the loungy bit. Not sure if that would work for you but worth a try.
Interesting idea, might try.
I have the same van and so far both fresh water and grey water motor valves have broken down within a year. The reason is probably because both motor valves are under the van and are susceptible to the mud and rain. It would have been better to keep the idea of a manual taps in my opinion. My second hate, is having to return to place of purchase for any warranty work as Swift seem unprepared to give a national warranty service for clients. Keep up the good videos Bob.
Thanks, yes I like the idea of not crawling under the van for the waste taps, but maybe they are vulnerable there.
Our free standing table in our Bailey looks exactly the same and takes up all of the space in what is otherwise a spacious lounge area, so it feels more cramped than it should. If you find an alternative table then let the world know.

Could you fit an additional stronger strut or replace one for a stronger strut? would your dealer do it? to do on the cheap a car tailgate strut from scrap yard may do it

As for the TV we originally bought an August 10 inch and that was good!

The TV is in a real awkward position, much better in your old van. I think you should design your own custom van and get someone to build it, might cost a bit though! Cheers Martin

Cheap solution to your bed storage. Get a car bonnet strut from breakers yard and fix to side of bed to hold it up
Hi there. Just found your channel. Fairly new to motorhoming. I've just watched your Motorhome essentials video really good advice and I intend to act upon it. Just one thing, What length water hose and electric cable would you recommend please?
Most electric cables come as 25 metres. Recent experience tells me your water hose should be a flat, roll up, food grade hose, preferably about 25 metres too!
I retro fitted some adjustable gas struts for a friend awhile back. They were adjusted by an Allen key until they were balanced. I think they cost him around £40 of the internet.
Hi we have just got the same motor home and agree with your comments but we have a query on our first trip this week we have had a warning message on “ over heat red fail “ the main control panel please can you help us find out what this means ? Many thanks Cheryl and Jim

My number 1 hate in the Motorhome is the location of the power sockets and lack of them. The designer must have been a blind man.

Can't change the table top on the existing table as the legs won't fit. Still looking for the perfect solution.

At least it’s nothing major and you can work around them. There are camper van/Motorhome sites that do smaller free standing tables and I’m sure you will find one.

No, there are plenty of things we love about this motorhome, especially no travel seats!

Yes, because we have two vehicles in one. The main benefit of a motorhome is that it is a flexible vehicle. When we stay at sites for shows and we stay in one place for a week, we can, we tow a small with us for that. No need to move, and much like a caravan.
When we want to travel around, stopping over night at places, we can. Great for touring Europe or Scotland.
When we want to go out just for the day, we have everything with us, toilet, cooking, fridge and even our beds. Great for visiting museums and castles.
A motorhome can be used for many purposes, towing a variety of trailers, a car, or a boat, or a box trailer or trailer with bikes, motorbikes.
The best thing is that everything is self contained and you can never forget things when you go out in it!

You could probably upgrade the gas struts to ones that are slightly more stronger

Can you take off the original top and replace with one which is narrow. I know they are made light weight and are corrugated paper inside so you cant just cut yours down. We have a narrow one in our A/S symbol so they are available. May be your MH manufacturer does a table for their smaller vans which would fit the bill.

How is the fuel economy on the new van Is it any better than the last van?
Averages around 25.7, slightly worse if anything, by about 1 MPG, the new one weighs less, so it may be may something to do with Euro VI or I may be towing the car more. Only done 6600 miles, hardly run in.

could you not get a tv bracket similar to ours that you can spin the tv so you watch from the Captains Chairs.
I could move it now, but tend not to as it it's bolted in place so it doesn't move when I'm driving. Also think it might be a bit in our face, maybe a combination of a smaller TV and moving the bracket.
I find the table weighs to much and also the legs get in the way when you try to shuffle down the side seats

Space and size is the main difference between motorhomes and Campervans.

Noticed you share the same problem with your sink as"Poshcats".Has "Thor" remained watertight during the recent thunderstorms?
Yes, the Bolero became the Bessacarr and then became the Swift Kon-Tiki Sport very quickly after that. Yes, we have been severely water tested today, no problems.

If you look at the rear , the shower drain is on the left and the tank drain on the right.
Unless perfectly level it's not happening..

Top of my list is Bought from Brownhills in Newark worse dealer in the country. 2nd its an Autotrail what a waste of money,
*How much you Bob & your lovely Wife would be better off with towing a Bailey Pegasus 4-6-2 like we have and pitch up and explore local regions in our Tow Car. So much better in my opinion. My Brother has a Motorhome and his wife drives the car to enable them to get around to anywhere like StarBucks or Wetherspoons, we often visit them and they are so glad to be relieved - pardon the Pun. OK it's possibly back to the MotorHome v Caravan but have you ever looked at say the Bailey Pegasus 4/6/2 which gives so much space and comfort with a HUGE Rear End Washroom. You would need an enormous CamperVan to get anywhere near.*

I dont have a table in my van. 14 years without one and i dont need one.

No, we love our Motorhome and these are annoyances, every motorhome we have ever had has them. You only find them after you used it for a while! Not selling for a while.

Remove your table top and fit a smaller one ,not rocket science.
The rocket science would be to get the folding legs to fit a smaller table as they take up much of the length of the table already.
