    This is the lesson where I feel like everything just finally clicked regarding Se. I've only been searching for the last 2 years. It's good to see butterfly Spanish is still going strong! This was the first channel I came across on UA-cam 2 years ago when I started learning. I've just returned to the channel looking for this episode! Muchas Gracias Ana!

    • @trtsds8901
      @trtsds8901 4 роки тому +11

      Hello, here a native spaniard! You wont understand how to use "se" unless you get used to speak spanish since you are a kid. Actually, "se" has got a lot of functions grammarly talking. Most of the time we use se to talk about someones who is doing something to himself or just when 2 or more people are doing something each other. Rarely, when a sentence hasnt got any subject, the sentence starts with se (Se busca casa, Se alquila vivienda...) Most of the time, these "se" need to go with the verb, otherwise the sentence is meaningless or the meaning is changed.

      Take heart, it is not very difficult, you will learn it definitely if you read newspapers and magazines (and also works of literature), like Ana says.

      Jesucristo Salvador the word “se” is equivalent to the word “on” in French and sometimes it’s used as an improper way to say “we” or “them” or some actions happening to oneself.. it’s tricky word I have to say as there’s no equivalent in English..

      IT's easy to learn if you talk with native speakers and they correct to you. Me and te are easier than, les, las, los (neutral). But le, and se are most difficult. That was difficult for me when I was a kid and I am native speaker. But I got learn it.

    "Se" is the bane of my Spanish learning experience. That and the "personal a". And remembering indirect object pronouns. Oh boy, I think I might be the bane of my Spanish learning experience. Anywho, great video as always!

    • @Gunshinzero
      @Gunshinzero 4 роки тому

      Lol. So many "if it wasn't for ____ I have this is the bag" situations and it changes like the wind.
      For some reason I haven't figured out how to think of the object pronouns. I know they come before the verb but when the sentence continues past the verb I get confused. Like "te voy a ir dejando" that I heard in a song.
      I'm going to go you I'm leaving?
      I'm going to go I'm leaving you?
      I'm going you to go I'm leaving ?
      In my mind putting them before the verb breaks my English brain.

    • @Gunshinzero
      @Gunshinzero 3 роки тому

      @@princelenca524 Thanks for the reply. After making that post I really came to the conclusion that songs are a bad way of gaining grammar but a good way to remember vocabulary. Just thinking about how bad the grammar is in English songs makes it obvious. Grammar is secondary to song flow and sound. You have to hit the rhyme at all cost. lol

      I studied French for five years in school, and I still remember quite a bit. People always say that French and Spanish are similar, and it’s true! There are many things- in particular the numbers that I’ve noticed- that are very similar. Ex: F- une S- Uno f- deux s- dos F-trois S- tres and so on

    "se" is simple for Polish people. We have "się", which has exactly the same meaning, and use, and purpose as "se". The only difference "się" never changes, it's always the same in all persons.
    edit: We also move responsibility onto objects but not that often apparently. "Se me olvidó hacer la tarea" sounds a little funny. We use it, in fact, to make our mistakes appear less serious. Something like: "It just happened to me that I forgot to do the home work.". But you can't make fun of all your mistakes, so we don't use it too often.
