It’s giving you that message bc when you sauté food first, you have to get all of the bits of food off the bottoms of the pot before pressure cooking. Either deglaze with the liquid, or take the chicken out and clean it. You don’t need more liquid, just get the bottom clear. Once it detects a burn, it will not continue to come to pressure, that’s why you didn’t have any.

Buffalo Chicken Nachos! Shred up a rotisserie chicken, mix it with some buffalo sauce, add to tortilla chips and top with cheese. You can bake them or put them in the oven. And then top with whatever you want! Blue cheese crumbles, tomatoes, jalapenos, ranch etc. Soooooo good!!

Best, juiciest, yummiest chicken ever! This recipe is for like 1-1.5 pounds of chicken breast (we're a family of 6) so for you and Mr B you'd probably only need half. The full recipe: 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan, 1 cup mayo, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 1/2 tsp seasoning salt, 1/2 tsp pepper. Mix that together and spoon it over chicken breasts. Bake at 375°F for 45 minutes. I like to line the baking sheet with parchment for easy clean up and usually serve it with glazed carrots and some kind of potato (mashed or roasted/diced). The glazed carrots are super easy. A bag of either baby carrots or the carrot slices, boil until fork tender, drain the water, add 1/2 stick of butter, 2 tbsp brown sugar and one PKG ranch seasoning. Just stir to combine and cool on low for 5-10 minutes (stir often) to let the sugar make a sauce/glaze.

I read that if you use the sautéing mode before pressure cooking, you must make sure to thoroughly scrape the bottom of the pot. You’re getting the “Burn Food” message because the pieces stuck to the bottom are heating up and triggering the sensor. Once you get that message the pot stops cooking as a safety precaution. Hope this helps!! 😉

Try mashed potatoes in the instant pot! Get some yellow potatoes, cut into large chunks, throw in instant pot, add about 2 cups of water. You can also add some seasoning. Cook on high pressure for 15 minutes. When done, you can take some water out, mash (add your butter, sour cream), done. So good and easy.

Yes you have to make sure to scrape the bottom completely if you use sauté mode. You don’t want any of the brown stuck to the bottom. I usually had extra broth in mine to ensure it doesn’t burn. The preheat is normal! It really take a long time to come to pressure!!

  • @kristinamilbach1170

Quick instant pot tip. If you saute anything in it before going to the pressure setting, make sure NOTHING is stuck to the bottom. No bits or anything. Then add whatever liquid is called for. Otherwise it can stick and burn pretty bad. Learned this the hard way. 😆😆😆

Any time you brown something in the instant pot, you must deglaze the bottom of your pan with your liquid. If there is food stuck to the bottom of your pan, you will get a burn notice every time! Also, when you turn your instant pot to pressure cook, it takes time for the pot to build pressure before the timer starts counting down the cook time. So, if a recipe says 5 minutes, it's going to take 5-15 minutes to pressure up before the cooking time starts. Pressure times vary due to the amount of liquid you're using. I have learned in cooking rice in the IP, always put some oil on the bottom of your pan and do not cook longer or it will burn on the bottom. Also, no more than 5 minites on slow release or the bottom of the rice will be scorched.
I love my IP and use it all the time. It's great for cooking frozen meat that you forgot to defrost.
When I make potato salad, it's wonderful because you can cook your potatoes and eggs at the same time. When making eggs that are in a casserole or egg bites, make sure and put foil over your pan to keep extra moisture out of your eggs. When the IP pressures up, all the liquids rise in the pot, so covering eggs, cakes, batters, etc, keeps the pressured liquid out and you end up with a better texture. Just a few of my tips.....hope they help. I also watch "Six Sister Stuff" and have learned so much from that channel. But if there's a recipe I've never made, I just Google it for IP.
Goulash is one of my favorite dishes to make in the IP. So easy and quick. I'll make it for lunch and leave the IP on "warm" and it's even better for dinner that night. Plus, so easy to clean up and not having to wash a lot of pans and cleaning my glass cooktop....win, win!!

The burn notice is because you either have not deglazed the bottom of the pan good enough after sautéing the chicken or you do not have enough liquid. I usually use 1 1/2 cup or more of liquid with anything I cook in the IP. After sautéing you want the bottom of your pan free of any bits sticking. Another tip I would suggest is if your IP came with a trivet to use it after you have sautéed the meat. I always use the metal trivet that cane with mine because then it’s not directly sitting on the bottom of pan which will also help to avoid the burn notice. Hope that helps. 😊

    @vivianalmeda5308 3 роки тому +9

When you make anything with rice use the rice setting! It will prevent the burn signal from coming up. It’s not burned , it’s just stuck to the bottom so that should solve the issue.

I have the Ninja Foodie and there is NO rice setting and it signals for me to add more water before it even comes to pressure. I had to stop cooking rice in it! It cooked rice PERFECTLY when I first got it but now it scorches or wont finish cooking right. Anybody have any ideas so I can walk away from the rice?

  • @kristenar5976
    @kristenar5976 3 роки тому

Yes that six sisters Chelsey chicken and rice is AWESOME!! We also half the recipe but still use a whole can of cream of chicken.
I’ve never had trouble with it.. I don’t think you need to stir it all unless they state specifically to do so. Just make sure rice is submerged. Maybe try deglazing the bottom before once you add your liquid. I have a different pressure cooker than you so.

  • @jessibellxo

I love my instant pot. I was intimidated at first but it does get better I promise. The pot will say pre heating until the pot comes to pressure. When it comes to pressure the timer will start counting down from whatever you sent the timer for. The preheat can take some time honestly.. especially when you are adding cold ingredients or a pot that you didn’t sauté in. Another thing I’ve noticed when it tells you the food is burning for me it’s meant that there’s not enough liquid in the pot for it to come to pressure. I promise it gets easier just don’t give up lol! the first few times I used the pot It was a new world.. now this thing is my go to weekly!

You don’t have a bad pot. It takes anywhere from a few minutes to 20 plus to come to pressure depending on what and how much you are cooking. The preheating is getting the liquid hot enough to boil and build pressure before the cooking starts. Hope this helps.

When it says burn it’s because you need to make sure that any food isn’t stuck on the bottom of pot or use broth or other liquid to scrap bottom of pot make sure there are no food particles stuck on bottom of pot before sealing the lid to finishing cooking. Preheat means its coming to pressure. Takes a few minutes before it’s ready to pressure. It’s all good.

Okay, y’all are not deglazing well enough. Deglaze really well with your chicken broth. You’ll get a burn notification if anything is stuck to the bottom. Honestly, if you just dump everything and go, it’ll work better. Just work quickly. Pinto beans would be awesome for y’all to cook in your InstantPot. Plus, y’all should do a roast. A half lion pork roast turns out amazing and it’s so much leaner than a pork shoulder. It just takes some getting used do. Y’all will catch on.😊♥️

I’m new to your channel and I’ve been bing watching all of your videos!😍🙌🏻🙌🏻 As far as the instant pot goes I have learned from six sisters stuff that you need to pour in your liquid before adding your other stuff on top. Especially if the other ingredients are of a thicker consistency. Hopefully this helps some. I’m still learning with my instant pot and I’ve had it for several years but I LOVE IT!!! Believe me there also some days I want to throw it in the trash bc I’ve done something wrong and it won’t come up to pressure at all through the whole cooking process! Instant pot. When you saute, deglaze with your chicken stock after sauting then turn off. Then set time for pressure cook. Remember that the pot needs to build pressure so this takes about 15 minutes. It will automatically start counting down the time once it gets to pressure. When it's finished pressure cooking the time will begin to count up which is a slow release. Most foods need about 10 minutes to slow release, then you fast release the last of the pressure. The knob will drop and you can then open the pot

You can try spraying the bottom of the instant pot with Pam baking spray. Also I had an insignia instant pot and when I sauteed I couldn't use it after words cause the lid wouldn't seal. I figured it has something to do with being too hot after sauteing foods.

I love my instant pot! The key is to deglaze the bottom after you saute. I would recommend deglazing when you put in the chicken broth, scrap the bottom at that point the hot liquid will help. When you put in rice or pasta never stir it. Just 'pat down' into the liquid. Hope these tips help. I watched a lot of UA-cam videos when I got mine that's how I learned!

You might already know this, but when using the instant pot, you don’t stir. You put the wet ingredients in, add the rice or pasta, and then just press it down into the liquid. You’re probably better off removing the chicken and adding it back in on top after you push the rice/pasta down. Also, press the seal on the lid in really good each time you use it. That will make sure your pressure doesn’t leak out. And it does take a long time to pre heat, but if the seal on the lid is loose, it won’t come to pressure and it will take FOREVER to preheat. It took me a while to learn all this. Hope I was able to help!

You two are so cute together! Remind me of my husband and I. We were high school sweethearts and just celebrated our 15 year anniversary! That instant pot can be tricky when you are trying to learn how to use it. If you saute anything before you pressure cook you have to deglaze the bottom of the pan really well. I usually add some chicken broth and scrape it well. If there are any bits stuck you will get that burn notification. Also, it seems to like thinner sauces rather than thick so try to use thinner liquids. You can always use cornstarch at the end after you release the pressure and saute for a minute or so if you want to thicken a sauce. Also, you have to over season foods because it seems to get lost in the liquid. Give it some time and you will learn to love the instant pot!

Team NO Onion here also lol🙌🏻. I do like the flavor though and use onion powder, but not even the onion flakes😬. Haha. Great video!😊

That first dinner from Hello Fresh looked amazing! Bunkey's panic over the amount of seasoning was so funny. haha Your cheesy chicken rice looked good even if some of it burned. I don't have an instant pot so I've got no idea. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Haha and then on the last meal he was complimenting your seasoning sprinkling....haha I love that you leave in all the commentary. Honey garlic chicken looked and sounded amazing!

It’s not a bad machine just the wrong pot. You need the non-stick pot to make rice and pasta dishes or they will always have the tendency to burn. I have an instant pot and the same thing was happening but the non-stick pot helps so much. Good luck!💕

It heats until it builds pressure and that takes a while anywhere from five to twenty minutes depending on amount of liquid then it starts counting down just leave it alone every time u take the top off the pressure starts again. also burn notice means not enough liquid or something to thick. If the burn notice comes up before the pressure starts it won’t start sometimes if it comes up during it will finish like when I make rice pudding I get the burn notice and there’s lots of milk

Set the time you want it to cook. It will build up pressure about 20 minutes and then the cook time will start. When you saute the others are correct you need to deglaze .
To build up pressure(steam) there must be water or other liquid.

It does take a bit to preheat, you gotta wait for that. You also need a good amount of liquid in there and it won't show burn.

I think while you were pressure cooking so preheating means that it is coming to pressure. Once it comes to turtle pressure it will then take six minutes to cook and then you let it depressurize or natural release for about 10 minutes and then you can push pressure button to release the rest of the pressure

IP's like pressure canners/cookers take alot of time to build pressure and preheat!! By alot of time depending on recipe over 30 minutes.

My pot takes awhile to get to pressure too. As hard as it is, I add all the dry ingredients first and then the liquid last...and I never stir. No burn notice. :)

Whenever I try to use the sauté feature and then pressure cook I get the burn notice as well. I made a delicious garlic Parmesan chicken rice but the instapot wouldn’t come to pressure because it said it was burning. When I googled it says I don’t have enough moisture but after trying the recipe twice I just modified it to use in a pot on the stove because I can’t with the instapot fussiness lol.

I made this for dinner today and for once I didn't make extra cuz I was nervous about the sauce smelling strong of ACV but oh my goodness it was soooooo good! Boyfriend even high fived me and said I had to make it again. How dare I question Joanna Gaines?! Lol Thanks for the idea.

I want to try that last chicken first!! The cheesy chicken and rice looked amazing but I don’t have an instant pot. I had one like 3 or 4 years ago but I don’t know if I was dumb or if I got a defective one but it wasn’t working lol. I’ve considered trying again but I’m scared to lol

. I made gnocchi with bolognese sauce for dinner tonight, it is freezing here so it was delicious. I love cous cous, I have a recipe that is great hot with chicken, or cold as a salad.
