I like how she been playing him the whole time.
That's what she said!

One time I’m band camp, I glad I watched this video. Haha
…like a fiddle.
@@Dear_Mr._Isaiah_Deringer ...like a flute
i remember being 18 and watching this in the theater. when she says "And one time..." the audience all quipped "AT BAND CAMP!" at once. but then.....she says it.....and the whole movie theater erupted in the biggest loudest roar of laughter i have ever witnessed . i love this movie
@Sllort not just the audience, the earth itself opened allowing satans ripped forearms to come forth from perdition just to applaud
Trying to watch a movie in america must be a nightmare
@@Sam_T1021 Nah. Sometimes the group experience of the shared reaction is the best part of the movie.
this is just stupid enough to be real (though I doubt it was the _whole_ audience, unless the number of people wasn't that large).
@@Sam_T1021 go to Thailand and watch any move there in any movie theater, and you will feel like you are in a funeral.
Alyson Hannigan was probably the best actress in this movie. Hands down!
She’s given amazing performances in how I met your mother
Because of American Pie and How I Met Your Mother, Alyson Hannigan became one of my biggest celebrity crushes when I was a teenager and even now at 32 I still absolutely adore her. Her husband Alexis Denisof is a very lucky man.
if she was hands down the best - then why did you say probably?
Apparently the producers of the movie originally wanted her to play Heather, but she turned it down because she thought Michelle was funnier! I’m really glad she got her way…
she tight
It's crazy how she's both super confident sexually and yet adorable levels of cute throughout
@Mark Michon When you get older you'll find out that there's women like that.
@@macman975 yes they work at the library or volunteer sites..go work at a few volunteer community buildings and I bet within 2 weeks you will find one of these
Anyone else actually try the flute thing after watching this movie? I ended up doing it in middle school with the loaner flute I got from band class lmao
These type of women are often the horniest. And women that act and dress sexually confident are the least
@@kishascape Hahaha wow...
It's funny that she's supposed to be a nerd type. I remember watching this as a kid and I was in awe of her being an absolute rock solid ten.
Sure, but they write the character like she's a consolation prize for Jim not being able to get the "actual" hot chick.
Please. There are rock solid 10's that come in last in attitude. She's a 5, voted most likely to succeed.
The actor did a good job being the nerd type tho, not just looks wise.
Edit: you know, unlike other movies around this time in which the nerd just dressed different
@@to819 Well yes and no. She's not the stereotypical second prize because she was written as having played Jim. So technically they are both each other's seconded prizes which is both a win for gender-equality in dating AND dating expectations in general imo :)
That honestly what I love so much about American Pie; it made me think about morals with regard to dating and gender without being PC at all.
No joke. She was the hottest girl of the movie.
I've watched it over and over. The delay of his spit take when she tells him about the flute is what makes it twice as funny as a fast spit take would be. That, and the way she says it in exactly the same manner and at the same speed as every other story. ....It's so fun.
Just like band camp
Like it took a couple seconds for that info to sink in...
Yup. She nailed it. Then he returned the favor
HAHA. Perfectly timed.
That leads me to wonder if this scene was in the script he had. By that I mean, did they give Jason a fake script that said "This one time at band camp, [something innocent]" and gave Alyson the one with the real dialogue so they could get a genuine shocked reaction out of him.
Alison Hannigan has preserved a spot forever in classic lines! The delivery and they way she just pulls that out of nowhere (give the writer credit too) is classic.
She says today she is so tired of people coming up to her and saying the line from a movie that is now 22 years old. I think actors just don't realize how influential certain lines from movies are. I mean people are still saying, "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse."
Don't think that was an improvised moment either. Wonder how she was when they asked her to say lol
@@edwardcricchio6106 I also think they should be a little more grateful, that doesn't happen very often. Just ask all the unemployed actors out there. I met Butch Patrick (Eddie Munster) once at an autograph signing event and he could not have been a nicer guy. We actually did lines from the Munsters together as a goof! Awesome dude.
@@JOECANDELA22 I agree. Actors sometimes just don't get it.
@@JOECANDELA22 "I also think they should be a little more grateful"
It's not about being ungrateful, but getting to hear that same thing a million times through your life is bound to get extremely tiresome, especially if you have other work you're far more proud of, and then you never get to hear about that, but still hear about that movie you were in 23 years ago.
"This One Time, At Band Camp"- the six words that have defined Alyson Hannigan's career. Doesn't matter what else she does, this is what she'll be remembered for.
I remember her from Buffy and how I met your mother more than I do this movie
I think you forgot about "thank you linus."
No, she’s Willow, she will always be Willow, that’s the role that’s defined her career.
Heck I Was Introduced To Her From How I Met Your Mother
Dark Willow will remember...
I was getting so sick of her Band camp stories when I first watched this 22 years ago, and thinking she was a bore! Then BAM! Instant freak!!! Well played Michelle well played!!!
I cant believe its been that long since the movie came out.... I feel old lol
I had to look it up to verify, can't believe it's been 22 years.
I know, it’s crazy how fast times flies.
jaw dropped first time then I was laughing so hard
This one time at band camp, my bunk mate stuck his flute up my kazoo and played a couple of notes.
I love this plot twist... The fact that Jim always thought he was gonna be in control of the situation makes me laugh every time I see these scenes again 😹
I like how they slowly build the chemistry between Michelle and Jim and we don't get a payoff until the end of the second movie.
This is one of the best plot twist in movies. I mean here you think she is this cute little innocent band geek when it turns out she is a total freak.
Stiffler even points that out in 'American Wedding'.
How it’s suppose to be
Band geeks tend to be complete freaks irl my dude. Boy do I have some stories lol

@@chucky7285 lmao
HAHAHAH
Well since that's the title of the video I think anyone watching this does
One of the best things about this is her LOOK! She LOOKS like a chipper little band geek the whole movie, from the way she holds herself to tautness of her face, but as soon as the flute story is out, her entire image RELAXES. You can read in her look that it's all been an act up until now and this is the real her. Underrate Alyson Hannigan at your own peril, ladies and gentlemen.
Not so much an act as another side of her. she really is a band geek, she's also a freak in the sheets.
@@Logan_Baron In my experience after 7 years of marching band, those two are weirdly a package deal.
Geeks can be very sexual too...
She looks like my second girlfriend...old memories
she acts like my ex. book geek and freak in the sheets.
A good-natured, very frank young lady who asked the most important question in the whole film: "How come you don't have any stories?" If only little teenaged me had known that becoming that kind of being would be a lifelong aspiration.
Hello beautiful how are you doing today hope you are safe over there?
pause
I'm thinking that with all the great stuff Alyson has done in her career, this is what she will ultimately be remembered for.
I passed on American Pie when it was first released in theaters, so my introduction to her was through Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I can't believe I'm alone in that respect.
I recognise her more through How I met your mother and I'm ok with that. Great series.
Jason Biggs will always be remembered as pie fucker lol
She'll always be Willow to me.
I remember her in my stepmother is an alien
Jason Biggs bouncing right off the bed at 3:39 is just a great piece of physical comedy.
Especially the look on her face right before when he says "this will do"
not sure why but always laughed at that part, i could have seen it happening to me hahaha.
John Ritter would be proud.
Big 'Scrubs' energy
Has Chandler vibes
When I was a kid I would constantly start stories with "one time..." and my mom would always say "at band camp" after, but would never tell me why she was saying it, and now I am finally watching the scene at 21, and omg this is hilarious.
“and this one time, at band camp”....she is my favorite character in American Pie! Hilarious movie!
3:11 he got so use to hearing the band camp stories the sexual part went right over his head lol
Oh FACK, Sherlock ovaries!!!
'Mhh'
3:12
Not gonna lie, the set up for this was pure freaking genius. She spends the entire movie saying, “This one time, at band camp…” and it’s just stupid, silly stories. So when she actually says something purely sexual about band camp, we the audience are taken completely off guard the same as Jim. I remember hearing this for the first time, and I was drinking a soda, and I literally spit it it out the same as Jim and mumble, “What the fvck?!”
I don’t think any teen centered movie will ever pull this massive level of a bait and switch as this one did.
Ever since I watched this movie in the theater, I always think "this one time, in band camp" whenever I hear the words Band camp. It has been 22 years.
HAH, watch closely. She DOES ask if they'll go to the after party BEFORE she says yes. Used him to get to the party, to cross geek-cool clique lines. Also, this means Stiffler deserves all the credit for setting these two up together, which gets him credit for Jim's virginity loss, survival of the bet, confidence with women, greater happiness during college, marriage, children, and family to look after him when he gets old and bury him when he dies!!!!! Stiffmeister ftw
ironically when I was a band nerd in HS all the non band kids wanted to come to our parties, like she said they were all boring to us and didn't have any interesting stories.
Underrated comment! Good observation, too.
This is why Stiffler makes it up to them in the 3rd movie.
@@flightofthebumblebee9529 was that the movie where stiffler tries to mate with one of thr bridesmaid?
What a Lucky Flute!
True. However, the trumpet in the sequel wasn’t so lucky.

My sister went to band camp when this movie came out. I never let her live it down.
How old is she?...
Was she a flutist?
Did she play the flute?? 😂😂
She is so freaking adorable here. and that line had me on the floor the first time.
I love how jim was totally unaware of his own emotions throughout the movie, and finally realised it in the end when he uttered those words himself.
That's the 2nd movie dude
Everyone who was in marching band knew a girl who started every sentence with “This one time at band camp”
I when to high school with a girl like Michelle, she was a chatter box too, and I am really kicking myself today that I didn't ask her to the ball. Funny as a teenager you are so picky, but when you turn 30, you just take anyone in your age group.

2:04 "Stiffler's mom got a divorce"
one of those genius script writers' techniques. Slip into ordinary conversation in a scene dominated by something else the setup for a HUGE payoff way down the line
what does that mean?
@@majidie5301 I think the quote should be, "Stiffler's Mom got it in the divorce." Meaning she got the house in which the after-prom party happened.
Why would you think that was the line?
They're approaching the lovely home that the after party is being held At And he clearly says stifler's mom got it in the divorce.
It’s hard to believe she was actually 26 years old at the time this was filmed.
And then you look at high school students now and its like WTF!!!?
It's hard to believe that someone born when this was filmed would be almost the same age she was when she filmed it
Hows it hard to believe she is 26
@@SpaceRanger187 Because she looks about 20 here.
I remember when this movie came out and we could all tell the actors were in their early to mid 20s. Now that I'm past the age they were when they filmed this, they all look like baby faced kids 😂😂
I always loved the way she says "Michelle" after he asks her what her name is (1:26). Can't even put my finger on why. It's been more than 15 years since I last saw it and it just made me smile just like it did back when I first saw the movie.
Me too man, me too
Yeah I get what you mean. She says it in such an easy-going way yet filled with possibility.
she says it like a cat noticing the mouse nibbling the cheese in the trap.. . (because she read the script and knows she's gonna say the "..why i accepted this date" line later. )
Anyone know why they sat next to each other in the last days of senior year and he somehow doesn't know her name? Role call?

This line still haunts me. I was in high school marching band just a couple of years after this film came out.
