Bushmills 10YO Single Malt, 40% - Whisky Wednesday

- Bushmills is such a well known name, with well known staus across the globe, that sometimes ignorance from certain parts of the whisky community tends to run rife in the idea of commonality.
When I tried that 29YO Madeira Cask last year, my mind was blown apart by how good it was. But, where does trying to access whisky like that come from? Well the ability to release bottles like that to a baying fandom of whisky drinkers is all built upon regular sales of regular stocks, and personally, I believe that Bushmills 10YO is one of the best value single malts that exists on the planet.
Whether you're into Irish whiskey, or not. Bushmills are responsible for such a huge chunk of the Irish whiskey world, that in my opinion, this bottle deserves some attention.

I'm probably biased because I have fond memories of it being my go to, drinking with a good friend in one of our favourite bars when I was living in Tokyo. Plus it was one of the first single malts I got into. It's not going to blow anybody away but I love Bushmills 10. Great value (when you can get it on offer) and nice balance of caramel and fruitiness.

It's very good! If there was a 46%+ version, or a cask strength version, could easily be an 8 or higher.

Just tried last week, my impression was really light tropical summer fruit and mild malt, great for the price and quite approachable

This isn't too different. Really comparable to light Speyside styles.

I like this one …I always get a distinctive grapefruit/citrus note with touch of sweet metallic (in a good way). I agree it performs better than other options in the price range. Thanks for the review
Withiut doubt! That grapefruit note is interesting. Made a sour with it last night and that really popped out.
Some fun notes in there, like the Bramble bush backing in the sun. I reviewed this a few years ago and at the time, I did not enjoy it very much. Just average for me. Time to try it again I think. Thanks for sharing!
It is worth going back to, it's a solid whisky for the money.
Nice review! Try putting a couple of ounces in a sample bottle and stick in freezer. Like drinking nectar!

Whiskey at 40% needs to stop , 46% should be the lowest abv
Whisky not available at 40% would stop most supermarket/airport drinkers purchasing. That would then stop most of the market availability for anything above 46%. It's because of readily available, affordable whisky at 40% that we are able to have such a variety.
