    a life time ago i thought i was the fastest cab driver in sydney .i remember what a blast it was coming off the bridge onto the cahill expressway and hitting the right turn as you go into the tunnel with the old HX just hanging on heading towards the domain with a terrified passenger hanging on topping it off the the radio turned up and the power and the passion coming out full blast .it was a great driving song when you were in a hurry

    41 years ago I saw Midnight Oil at The Royal Antler Narrabeen. I have to thank the boys from The Strand house at Dee Why for taking me to the gig.
    It was late 1979, a warm night, people pouring jugs of iced water on each other and Peter Garrett's head, steam coming from the Lead Singer's bald cranium.
    Their music and especially their lyrics have made THE OILS one of the most important Rock bands in history.
    This new song ' Gadigal Land' is an instant Oils Classic.
    Words cannot describe how much I love this track.
    Sydney Radio station MMM played it every hour yesterday, so credit to them for that.
    Before they played it the first time I was thinking " oh, I hope it's good "
    I loved it from the opening chords, the thumping Drums, the throbbing Bass and Garrett's vocals delivering every word that is punching the Colonial invaders in the face.
    Well done boys, this is excellent!

      Good point, that’s what he does, he listens to the band and adapts. A lot of adlib when oils play live, makes it so mesmerising. Compare to their studio versions you can hear the bass versatility .

    Love this band. Grew up in the 70's-80's listening to them. Beds are burning is one of my favorite songs of all times.
    Im glad I found and subscribed to this channel! It has given me full access to all their songs, videos and current projects.
    The ONLY thing that would make this better and truthfully blow my mind and make a memory of a life time would be for Peter to respond to his fans here, or my selfish side says it would be even better to get a message or comment from him directly!

    holy crap that was good!!!.... crowd started singing the chorus & after that I knew the brass section should be starting, but I didn't know the horn players would be there until I saw them (I wondered if maybe the horns would just be played off of synths (which would still be fine, 'cause you know they'd do it well) ), but damn, when that ending hit, I got goosebumps!!!

    Ryde hotel Victoria rd Just before Parramatta in the early 80s was the place to be oils played there all the time,loved that pub

    I like the Oils, got into them about a year ago, I am a 33 year old Australian male thinking they were a boring meat and potatoes rock band, was kinda wrong about that...

      I think the meat & potatoes PR problem arose when they hit the commercial big time in 1987 with a very specific song with a catchy chorus and diatonic chord progression. I do a face plant into my hands when Im talking to someone about music and I mention Midnight Oil and they go "Oh yeah Beds are Burning right??" I recover my composure and then kindly suggest they listen to 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 + everything before that, and then try Red Sails in the Sunset.

      I am glad that you discovered them. Pretty amazing, hey. My top three Australian bands, in no particular order are: AC/DC, Midnight Oil and Cold Chisel. They are all great bands, for different reasons.

      I am born Eurpean and sadly was this band Midnight oil never known here.mow I saw the great band on u-tube premium It would be nice to see what they done .87 long time now. 2019 today awesome great mesmerising. Does any -one gotten more material as information about them? I think that we sure would need it.here in Europe the bad are rising.     The audio mix sounds fantastic here! The previous Wave Aid and Sound Relief live outdoor recordings didn't sound anywhere near as good as this. The digital video is also top-notch this time around. Looking forward to the day my preordered DVD set turns up in the mail.

Old money wants to remain old money for all time, so in order to get any kind of compromise at all out of those people, you usually have to give far more than you get.     While Bones is a very good bass player, I always preferred Peter Gifford who I think always had more punch and a better tone.

      Giffo quit in 1987 because he didn’t want to tour for Diesel & Dust. Bones Hillman held down the bass guitar and backing vocals amazingly until he died of cancer Nov. 7, 2020 - around the time of your comment. RIP Bones.

    Coal is porous. which means that even if its not used for heating it's still pourous. so what are you protesting the co2 or the mine

    My whole life I've never felt this band. They obviously good but just to heady. I think it really held them back from major international success. It's a shame really

    What a hypocrite , Peter Garret the lead singer in Midnight Oil joined the Green Party which he abandoned for The Labor Party & ended up in the Federal Government of Australia as Minister for the Environment . He was completely incompetant and his actions in the " Pink Batt fiasco " killed young men which he never apologised, plus resulted in other disasters imposed upon the people of Australia. He did more harm than good . He should have stuck to singing for his supper.
