I am always excited when I see another video drop on your channel and this one did not disappoint! I also appreciate the extended length of the video as it was the perfect excuse to jump on the trainer for a spin session (it is still cold here in Nebraska!). I always appreciate your honest review and the point of view of the cycling enthusiast vs. the reviewers who are parroting the vendor talking points. This space absolutely needs the truly independent viewpoint and we are lucky to have you! Finally, I truly appreciate your even-handed review of this bike on its own merits. I am sure that it would have been easy to let your ordering/customer service experience impact the review. I felt you did a very fair job of reviewing the bike on the characteristics of the bike...well done!
Thank you Batman! Good to see you hear again LOL! So funny you said that too. Any time I need to watch anything over 30 minutes, I save it to watch while I'm on my Kickr. Thank you for your kind words! I figure I might as well put out something genuine to add value for those who may be considering the said bike. Take care and be safe!
Thank you, I am looking at getting this bike in November. I have had Ribble bikes before and have been very impressed with them but moving into Areo bike I was always a little unsure when you have Trek Madon ect but after watching this and a few other videos I am sold. The foot strike is not just an issue with this bike but also others, I have a Trek and the same thing happens on this but with some adjustments it can be overcome.
Chris, thank you for spending time with me! Kudos to you suffering through my banter... Hopefully you fast forwarded some bits LOL... I am hoping to be able to feature a new Madone and a new Aeroad pitting them against the Ultra at some point this year. Good luck on your search sir!
Hi Cornel! Thanks for checking in! I've been mega busy with my businesses as well as moving where I live. Life has been a mess LOL! I got several episodes cooking up though so please do stay tuned!
I love that paint scheme regardless of its history. I would have ordered the same if it were still available when I ordered. I appreciate your review as I wait for mine to be built after three delays now - I was almost ready to cancel after I got the last delay notice. I'm back to being excited for this bike again! You mentioned the tri bike usage and I remembered seeing an optional attachment for the bars for an increased aero tuck. You can find some photos if you search for Ribble Ultra SL R tri edition. Hopefully they will bring this around as an accessory at some point for those looking for a little extra tuck. Enjoy the ride!
Hey Paul! Thanks for your time watching! It is a breathy episode...She's been a hoot! Hopefully Ribble won't screw things up any more than they've already done and get you your bike soon!
A full length feature film! Awesome! 😂 you’re videos are very well done and you provide such great info. I was trying to decide between the BMC Teammachine, Canyon Ultimate or Aeroad, Cervelo Soloist, Ribble Endurance SLR or Utra SLR, or Pinarello Prince Fx. You have covered a lot of these or in the family of them. I did actually make a purchase just as I discovered your channel, but I still enjoy and value your perspective. Thanks for the videos!
Your bike lineup looks like something out of my garage LOL! Nice options to choose from! You're the one who recently got a Prince if I recall. Well done, sir. Thank you for your time hanging out with me! This was a LOOOOONG one...
Great video, very informative. Been waiting for a video like this for months. I have the same bike and share your opinion on a lot of aspects you’ve reviewed. Thanks very much for posting 👍🏼
great detailed review. I was fortunate to Demo this bike recently, Rapid! impressively so! but just adding to your thoughts on the rear chain stays at 45:15, I rode a Large frame and with my Size 11UK( 12US/46 EU) i found i would strike the drive side chain stay on my pedal stroke. It wasn't a big issue, and perhaps my worn cleats allowed for a little more float and I was able to position my foot so this didn't happen, but I did notice this- so worth considering if anyone is looking to buy. Very nice bike though!!
I am also 5’10 but I am confused which size to buy, my inseam is 83.5 cm can you please recommend me a size in this bike , and what would you recommend this bike or the Canyon aeroad ?
Haha. Review was worth the wait. Accurate from every standpoint in comparison to my feelings about this whip. It's silly quick, crazy stiff, and doesn't make you feel like you're at a disadvantage on climbs despite its weight. Really happy with this one from all angles
Right? Like I always tell people, weight shouldn't be taken at its face value. This 19 pounder definitely feels different than another 19 pounder. I'm certain I wouldn't Everest on this bike but on normal rides, I am not at a deficit I reckon. Thanks for your time hanging out with me, Raymond!
we are definitely steps ahead of the aerobike we use to have nowadays with different tubless setup and different carbon structure we gain lots of compliance n comfort. 😢I actually went thru this whole headache with ribble... I ordered ultra slr di2 11 speed bike on Sept 2021 and I anticipated that it'll be delay due to covid/storage. Due to the long way I was told my 11 ultegra would be upgraded to 12. However I had tons of headache just trying confirm the special colorway that was on available. On top of that email communication takes 4-5 days majority of the time. I waited about 9 months and told them to refund me even though they said it's on track to finish to finish July but I doubt it and requested refund. That handlebar was one of my biggest worry specially its bolted on system. I use to run 42cm and slowly went to 40 and eventually settle on 38cm hood to hood to me it's the best for my setup.
So sorry to hear. And so familiar... Have you watched my episode going over my troubles with Ribble? Thankfully the bike is one I truly love but I did not enjoy being jacked around and definitely would not buy from them again... There are other bike manufacturers out there that wouldn't jack their customers around "as much" as Ribble did....
Hi Caspar! As my tribulations with the company went on I did have doubts if the bike would turn up solid. Thankfully the bike is 1000x more solid than the company that built it. Hopefully yours will turn out great as well. \m/
Great vid Bro! But hey, test out the Cervelo px5 top of the line bike please. Which is your most comfortable bike to ride and also fast too? So far I think it’s your soloist by Cervelo?
Love the in-depth review. Great to get the perspective of someone who actually owns the bike and rides it a lot. I love the colour scheme, even if the team is now defunct. Ribble are actually backing another team here in the UK, called the Ribble Collective. Different colours, though also really nice. I think the standard colour scheme for the bike is fantastic as well. I have a question about the handlebars. They look amazing, and I am a sucker for technology that offers fractional gains that I don't really need 😆 But can you ride on the tops comfortably, e.g. if you are climbing? They are angled forward towards the hoods - if you rest your hands on them in a natural position, doesn't that splay your elbows outwards? I would have thought if the bars were going to be angled, they should be angled the other way.
Hi Richard. It will sound weird but I absolutely love the extra bulge on this bar. There's "substance" to hold on to and all the curvature absolutely money. The bulge was created for "creating turbulance" if you watch their marketing material which I don't know if I can have an opinion about. The boomerang shape and the angles you are asking about - my Vision bar and Zipp Aero both have the same design going on where they are angled forward towards the hoods. Resting hands on the top, I don't notice any issues in my form. Froome has flat front bar yet has his elbows out to next town. More the person than the bar I reckon.
@@DiabeticCycling I didn't realise there are other bars with a similar angled shape. Your Chris Froome elbows out point is a good one! 😀 I think my query is actually more about comfort rather than aero form though, given the whole design of the bike, my question should have been focused on the aero side. I just thought the direction of the angle must force your hands to point outwards even more than a flat bar, which might be uncomfortable. But I guess most people ride on the hoods or the drops most of the time, especially on an aero bike. I definitely want to love the aero bar, as it looks great!
What are your impressions of the DeRosa Pininfarina? I always saw it as gorgeous frame set and I’m curious as to how those good looks transfer to the road!
Hi, DC, Thank you so much for the fantastic videos. I really love your channel. One thing I would like to ask. What would be cost on top of the bike price when you purchase a bike overseas, like custom fee, VAT, etc? Do you need to pay sales tax? Thanks again.
Pro team like UaE and jumbo visma they are using 380*130 stem. They said it more aero and more comfort when your shoulder normaly at 37 to 40. I think 36 for asian guys are good fit, maybe i will try at 36 on next time im buying new frame. Im consider to buy Factor ostro and Colnago v4rs, but i think colnago will be better than. 😁

a few thoughts don't regret the color scheme it's amazing the weight is not that bad for such an aero bike and maybe with longer axle pedals the chainstay rubbing can be fixed i don't like the look of 99% of the current disc brake bikes but these one is spot on that 1% that looks good even with disc brakes 💥
The bike ships with a Selle Italia SLR Boost. I dropped it and switched to a Selle Italia SLR Boost Superflow. (it's the one you see in this video) The two are identical in shape. Just the rail material and center channel cut being the differences.
@@DiabeticCycling although I’m a heavy rider, personal experience they’re very comfortable, light and stable in cross winds for what they are. 35mm external width makes a difference, more so than any fancy pants Zipp NSW waves IMO. I own 353 NSW also.
Your head tube spacers are fitted incorrectly on your bike. The thin round spacer should be at top above stem, not below the under spacers creating a gap at top of frame. Ribble put it on below stem during transport for some reason.
Hi Fawaz. No issue with geometry at all as I made sure the reach/stack numbers were in the range before I put my order in. Their sizing is on par with others. No need for getting used to, dimensions were dead perfect for my fit.
