100% agree, my dude. Internecion Cube really is Vickers at his best. It mashes that signature blend of his (cute, creepy, funny, and surprisingly thoughtful at times) so well
I think something severely disappointing about Liam's animatics and animations is that they never get enough time to have real stakes. Yes, I do indeed like the "murder waifus" however I also want to see them legitimately threatened by something that forces them to actually listen to whoever does the thinking in each case to overcome or at least survive it. Murder Drones can potentially be the first one of his works to MAYBE get to that point, since he's not the only one responsible about the project, which has me hyped. Also the ranking was surprisingly spot on for my opinions. IC actually stopped and gave us quiet moments of character interaction that displayed some depth, making Max and Ic-0n far more entertaining and easy to get invested in than most of his protagonists.
I've thought about that, too. I think Internecion Cube could also avoid that problem (if it does get continued) since it seemed like it was actually trying to set something up with Krow, IC-313n, and the Refinoc facility.
@@Tyromaniac I doubt the weeb duo will serve as very threatening foes, they give way too much of a team rocket vibe. Kirie is being built up to be more on the antagonistic side but she's also an emotional mess, having potential for being a very interesting, dangerous and most likely tragic figure. As for Refinoc, I hope that they come off as genuinely competent. Probably by having some devil cubes that'd play the role of side characters, like 313, eventually recaptured in one way or the other and few yet nearly successful attempts against our protags. But they may be used as more comedy fodder, who knows, Liam doesn't have a great record on making shady operations seem like they know what they're doing *cough* design *cough*
True, true, true, and true. While the weeb duo and Refinoc might not end up being perfect villains, I think that they symbolize that at least something is being planned. It seems like we're never hearing from CliffSide or Let's Split up again, so having anything in Internecion Cube (even if they don't live up to expectations) is better than nothing.
@@Tyromaniac Let's split up was always meant to be a single short. It was intended to be a low effort project for fun. Cliffside never got approved to become a legitimate show, something Liam anticipated, thus the pilot being surprisingly low on plot hooks. A lot of the community thinks that it is unfair, but to be honest, considering that he's a storyboarder, not an animator, it is likely that the concept was fine, but production would have a lot of issues if it was approved. Cliffside actually also had A LOT of monster designs ready (designs that got me personally more interested than the entire pilot) but with the tone the show was about to have, most of them would probably not be intended to convince the audience that they may actually hurt the protagonists (other than the adult Migrant because Kaijus are usually big deals no matter what). I still really like the idea of a terror bird with a cowboy hat though. As for Murder Drones,I think he went to the right direction with the setting's big bad company. From the POV of the drones it is,as a collective organisation, a nearly eldrich force that acts following corporate logic to a scale they cannot really grasp. This is Liam's first series where we get a far bigger setting and the antagonistic force has grown in scale to match, to the point where the protagonists are so far from a priority they are safe because of it. The company is a distant, looming, impossibly large threat that doesn't even consider them *YET* I hope he keeps it just as threatening till the end.
I forgot about the monster designs, you're right, especially the siren (which to me seems like a callback to Yellow Halogen). Also, it did really seem like J.C. Jenson was gonna become the big bad of Murder Drones, but we're just gonna have to wait and see I guess.
Liam can only make a handfull of character archetypes, like psycho girl, goofy nerd guy, badass chick; but dammit, he can do them well Also, that one creepy face keeps appearing in all his animations and it makes me think that his stories are all in the same universe
You need to see Episode 2 of Murder Drones... It leans more into the darkness than the comedy, but still has a little comedy to pad out the darkness so it doesn't devolve into an edgefest.
I wish that Internecion Cube would continue already, though I don't know if I'd give up Murder Drones for it, but that's more because Murder Drones is a pretty close second, though Cube is definitely my favorite
I have a strict "no kink shame" policy however that doesn't mean I don't ask questions. Does anyone have any clue when Liam has a... ahem... "a girl who can kill me in ways that should not be physically possible" fetish? I like to imagine he saw that scene from RVB where the two guys are talking about how this super soldier ripped someone's skull out of his head, and beat him to death with it. "Wait a minute. How can you beat someone to death with their own skull? That doesn't seem physically possible." "That's exactly what he kept screaming." [FLASHBACKS] "AAAH! This doesn't seem physically possible!"

I remember finding a whole bunch of indy animation projects like song in the sky, and among those was cliffside and my does Liam's work have a unique art style that U absolutely love
The problem with murder drones is that it suffers from konosuba syndrome, in that they trade comedy for good characters. Example: uzi's dad was sacrificed for the sake of a few bits where he's obsessed with doors. Which arguably wasn't even that funny. Uzi's dad has potential to be a good character. But if the series picks up from the pilot, they can do one of 2 things with uzi's dad. 1. Continue the door joke 2. Completely reset him to be a better character. Thats what makes Internecion cube better, is that the humor works well with the characters.
I was more thinking that the comedy undermined the horror elements, but I see what you're saying about the characters too. There were definitely a few moments where a character trait was played for laughs when taking it seriously would've made it so much better (J's religious devotion to the company, for example).
My first exposure to LVA was through IC. Then I found out he was the guy behind Murder Drones and then I found SSTWL. My gosh, IC is heavily revamped design. As much as i fucking love Design, I feel like it had some iffy areas, especially when 104 did you know what to you know who. IC seems to borrow the best parts of Design, while also having Liam at his best. I legit hope that once Murder Drones is done, he returns, hopefully with more time and money, because if IC is only left at three episodes then this is gonna suck. Also everyone get LVA to 1 mil so he will work on IC again.

I do not entirely agree with the result of the ranking for me it would be like this 1- Cliffside 2- Internecion Cube 3- Murder Drones Let's Split Out would put it out because without 2 animatics and not much can be said about it Cliffside seems to me to be Liam's Magnum opus, it has a perfect balance between comedy and terror, charismatic characters and a good script. Internection Cube, although it is very good, let's be honest, it feels incomplete, not only because it is animatics, but also because the story is a bit vague if you can understand what the plot is about, but there are many things that we don't know why or what, because why I-Con and Max are destroying the factories that is the cube is an android or is it a substance that was never made clear And Murder Drones, although it is good, has problems in the pilot, they have a terrible balance between horror and comedy, something that improves in ep2. In fact, ep2 seems to me to be the best for now in the series, but ep3, although it is good, feels rushed. Ultimately it's my opinion and I respect yours.
