Very informative! I had no idea why one or both copper lines were insulated -- but now I feel I understand it completely! Thanks!

I'm very curious what replacement insulation you might recommend?

Why is the suction line inside the condenser not insulated? The part outside going to the house is insulated. You can see the uninsulated part inside the condenser sweat when the unit is running.

Hi I have serious condensation problem in my ceilings but no-one ever told me it can be from the condensation. I have flat roof so was told to replace the rubber roof, and it still happened so we silicone the roof and then it still happens every yr Summer comes. I wasted so much money on hiring ppl and fixing roof leaks. I also went through a few HVAC maintenance guy till I myself suspected the condensation was from HVAC lines....now the HVAC company only vaguely said they could insulate the line for me. Is it possible for me to send you pix and ask you for your expert advice?

I understand the cooper line outside needs to be insulated, what about the line that runs from the AC into the basement (65-70 degrees year round) and to the furnace

The suction line would still be cooler than this 65-70° constant. Temperature moves warm to cold so the line would absorb some of the heat. Will it make a huge difference? Probably not as much as say the same line running from outside condenser up into a hot attic space to the indoor unit/coil.

Should I insulate the copper lines running from inside the garage to the furnace? Notice my AC was not cooling keeping temperature and the line outside was wet insulation was hanging and noticed a line through the copper wire looks like someone cut it a little bit with a razor blade hopefully doesn't give me problems later gets really cold in the winter in Oklahoma City but my question is should I wrap the whole line from the outside all the way to the furnace or just outside part

I would like to know the answer to that as well.

@@Martlin ya I wrap the whole line the cold one

@@worstnightmare9772 I'm thinking that's the way to go, too.

@@Martlin after looking a little bit closer I could tell that it was already wrapped previously just needed to be rewrapped again all the way to the furnace all the way outside to the outside unit 👌🏻 Cold line only.

so one is insulated and one isnt because of the "metering device"? da fuq is that
