The way to learn how to play is put your runes front and center. Look at runes instead of your ability bars to know what you can press

Absolutely true. I would add that this guide is for people who either don't want to learn how to manage their runes (maybe they have given up trying lol) or people who are just starting out.
To become a better BDK you have to start managing runes and abilities yourself. At this point, as you said, get those runes front and center and start casting your spells manually. Start out with maybe just casting your own Death Strike and then as you become more competent and confident manage more and more.

this will work in heroic raids but very doubtful when it comes to even normal raiding. I would recommend reading guides, practicing rotations and watching vids on how to play it rather than rely on a one button macro.
