- Fleet Defender: The F-14 Tomcat Simulation, Campaign: Fighting Withrawal: Amphibious Assault, Stormy Night Mission, All Authentic lvl-4, Wingman's got Medal of Honor!

Fleet Defender is a combat flight simulator published by Microprose in 1994. It features the F-14 Tomcat and, as a commercial game, "is one of the most complicated and realistic PC air combat simulators ever created." The game features exclusively the F-14B version of the aircraft, even in scenarios where it constitutes an anachronism, because the developers found that flying the original underpowered F-14A was very unforgiving and "not much fun" for a commercial flight simulator

I loved this game. I believe it's 104 or 114 keys to learn and I knew them all. I can even remember getting the game through the post. For it's time, this was jaw dropping on my DX2 50 pc. A definate landmark in my pc gaming. I'm 53 now. Those were the days when you got a box and thick manuals. Had pc's for gaming for over 25 years and this game still sticks in my memory. It was ground breaking. Thank you for posting.
Even the manual contained numerous air combat tactics, radar guidance, and many othet stuffs. Felt just like a real Tomcat pilot.
Does this game have a dynamic campaign or is it just mission based? How does it compare to F-15 Strike Eagle 3 in this regard?
Have you ever played DCS?
With "Fleet Defender" on Steam being basically "Fleet Defender Gold" it is fun also playing the Korea and India campaigns.
Man, I love watching this. Could be hours long and would still be entertaining.
I spent a lot hours lost in this game as a teenager. I eventually saw a dragon flying.
That brought back good memories, I still have this game. That's when it was enjoyable to go to game store and see the latest computer games. A-10 Cuba, Chuck Yeager- Air combat ect. A lot of interaction with fellow players and ideas as well. Good video
Thanks for posting these. I remember playing a wireframe flight simulator, in the late 80s, that I think was an earlier version of this. There would be 3 or 4 incoming bogies the moment you took off from the aircraft carrier. Defeating all those with AIMs was doable but I only managed to do that and then land back on the carrier, to rearm and refuel, once.
How appropriate, you fly like a cow. Now this takes me back to my early teens, god I lost so many hours to this flight sim.
Great work Major ! Liked 👍
I'm enjoying your old school gaming videos! Perhaps this has been suggested 1000 times but in that case here is the 1001th time. Please consider using "aspect=True" in your dosbox conf file to correct the horizontal stretching that you get. Dials should be round, not oval. Yes it is odd that we used to stretch 320x200 (16:10) to a 4:3 screen back in the day, but in these modern times with square pixels, please consider correcting the aspect ratio in DosBox! :-)
Hi and thanks. I started using real crt tube monitor for dosbox and again setting "aspect=true" wont capture 320x240 (with dosbox's build-in capture, which i mostly use) and with dosbox stretching it messes the pixels as it just stretches the picture
@@thriftweeds Ahh I see, should've figured you used a CRT :-) Theoretically you could probably use OBS to capture and aspect correct it, but that begins to sounds like work and OBS tends to have its issues from time to time.. Anyway, its fun seeing old games, some I know and some I didn't!
great job!
Funny how the RIOS upper screen looks off an F14D
32:50 "Good job, bring her home"
Too bad you don't have enough fuel to make it back to the carrier.
does that little ACM Jettison switch work? The cover opens and closes but I can't get to the jettison switch. It's the red switch to the right of the AOA
could this have been a 2 person sim i.e 1 person was the pilot the other person could be the RIO in the same aircraft but on another pc or was it not possible back then? I was more into SWOTL back then.
I remember this game looking a lot better, haha. Still was far ahead from Mig 29 Fulcrum.
Great video. Was refuiling in flight an option in this game?
You mercifully turned off the music.
Why SW and not SP on 1st target?
How did you managed to fly that much with 700lb in each tank?
can i have the specs for dosbox?i use dfend as a frontend for dosbox..
What specs? there are no specs? Do you perhaps mean emulated CPU speed of the computer? You can raise and lower the "cycles" in dosbox which means speed on mhz. but anyway check these links here . - www.dosbox.com/wiki/Configuration:CPU -
