Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for all-out efforts to fight the impact of extreme weather gripping parts of the country. Floods have inundated parts of China’s southern provinces while droughts have affected areas in the north. State media reported on June 18, 2024, that Xi called for solid work in disaster relief to safeguard people's lives and property.

Hasten the South to North Water Transfer project. Increase its capacity.
If only it were that simple. The problem with flood water is that it flows everywhere, not just in the river valleys and reservoirs where you want it. And water that has flooded a city or industrial area is often heavily contaminated from contact with debris, oils, and other chemicals. 😢
Maybe you don’t understand. The billions or trillions of money and concrete poured into that project can’t just be changed with some magic wand. The system as built was designed for a world that no longer exists. You’d have to rip it out and start over. Nature will probably do that. The dam failures in Africa and Brazil are just the beginning. Every last dam everywhere exists now in a world they were never designed to handle. Chance will determine if they are buried in water or starved of it.
It will make it worse. The water naturally flows from west to east, if you built water conduct from south to north, it will disrupt the natural flow of water underground and cause more adverse consequences.

Southern floods follows northern droughts, as amount of rain suddenlly increase all over China. Because these time gaps, it's impossible to simply move southern water to north, it would only works when there is no extreme climate disaster happens.
Chinese people must be thankful to the party for the abundant supply of water...there is still more water in west philippine sea...
